Due to the tsunami, the entire library now only had the first floor restrooms open, which is why Sophia had come to the restroom on the first floor.
When Sophia came out of the restroom, she just so happened to see Flynn Taylor.
Flynn Taylor was on the phone.
Having failed to find his son at the library and supermarket rescue centers, he had gotten in touch with Fred Andrews.
Fred Andrews had arrived in Dowel two days before him, and was relatively more familiar with the situation there.
Speaking of which, Fred Andrews had always just missed Paul and Alan. When he reached the temporary rescue center at the supermarket, Paul had not yet been brought there. When he reached the library rescue center, Monica had not yet been rescued to the library.
Also, since he hadn't found the people he was looking for at those two rescue centers, Fred Andrews then went to the racecourse to check the situation. He only knew that Paul had taken Alan to see the horse racing.
