Selene
The road twisted sharply, trees thickening around us as we crossed into territory that didn't quite feel like the rest of the world. The air changed—denser, quieter. Like even the birds knew better than to chirp in this part of the forest.
I leaned against the car window, watching shadows flit between branches. "We're close," I said, voice low. My fire buzzed faintly under my skin, not in alarm—just… recognition. The kind you feel when you're about to walk into something that will change you.
Azriel's hand reached out, found mine without needing to look. His thumb traced slow, grounding circles over my knuckles. I didn't realize how tight I'd been holding my breath until that moment.
Behind us, Zion was softly humming again—something oddly hopeful, and off-key—and Grace whispered like she was listening to spirits only she could hear.
Then, as the trees opened up, we saw it: a ravine.
