Vienna's crowd escorted Louis XVI all the way to the barricades at the edge of Vienna.
As the leader of Vienna's populace, Grand Duke Carl stood next to Louis XVI and shouted to the French Army outside: "Soldiers of the French Army! Former King of France, Louis XVI, is here. I am Carl Ludwig Johann Lorenz, the commander of the people of Vienna, Austria! I request a dialogue with Andy Frost, the Commander of France!"
The French soldiers below exchanged glances, then a Sergeant shouted: "Then we need to report to His Excellency, please wait!"
A soldier then actually ran back, presumably to give the report.
Meanwhile, the French soldiers started to exchange glances with Louis XVI on the barricades.
Louis XVI felt awkward and asked Grand Duke Carl, "Are we just going to wait like this?"
Carl nodded: "Yes, this way we can also see how efficient Frost's command structure is. If it were the Austrian command, he probably wouldn't appear until three in the afternoon."
