Chapter 26 - A new bond

Grey didn't know why her smile shining through the dark cave only illuminated by her glowing eyes.

And although any other rabbit would feel fear at her fangs but for some reason he felt excited like some wave of happiness pumped through him.

Jade was looking at him using her infrared vision and saw his face heating up slowly

"Are you ok you're heating up. Don't die I'm sick of being stuck here." She said sound really worried.

Grey quickly snapped out his daze "your very kind worrying about me Jade but I'm just thinking how to silently hunt the bats."

"WHAT! no I'm a cold and uncaring snake why would I worry about a weak rabbit, I've just been alone for months unable to hunt properly. I just… want to go home or anywhere else but here." Jade said slowly becoming more sadder the longer she talked.

Grey just grinned in the dark he could hear the sadness in her voice. "Don't worry I promise to bring you out of this mountain."

"Mountain? Aren't we in a cave in the golden fang kingdom."

Grey just stared at her "that is a few days from here, we are in a mountain near the hills of endless mist."

Jade just sat in thought before her stomach let out a loud rumble and she quickly coiled up her body to lessen the stomach pains.

Grey saw this and tried to come forward and comfort her.

"NO!!! Ssstay away! I might eat you by accident. Just please get me some food."

Jade said voice full of pain and sorrow.

Grey stared at her for a bit his golden eyes barley glowing full of concern in the dark caves. "Don't worry I'll get you plenty of food just stay here. I'll be right back in a second just don't umm don't move." He said in a panicked worried tone dropping his waist bag on the floor abruptly.

Jade just grunted and grey hopped down the caves humming using the sounds to scan the surroundings in a quick frenzy

Until he found a group of two dozen bats hanging high along the ceiling.

He wanted to let out a loud bang sound in the caves but he knew the sound will probably attract nearby trouble while hurting him.

Grey thought for a few how to silently kill them

Before he gave up with a "To hell with it" as he called forth his golden haze.

It appeared in his paws as golden sand slowly forming together in a disc shape.

Grey threw it at a wall with a slight power boost of raw flowing energy bouncing it towards the group that was at the top before he silently recalled it.

It sliced through the fur six bats but only killing two bats. Half the group went to where to sound originated while the other half attacked the nearby bleeding bats causing a big fight among them.

Grey ran to the two corpses but sensed a few more bats also going after them so running on pure instinct he charged up his disc with a loud humming sound before throwing it again.

This time it killed several slicing through them like water before cutting through a thick wall next.

Everything froze for a few seconds before the bats started eating their fallen kin.

Grey used this opportunity to grab two more on his back before sprinting back to Jade bringing back a total of four bats for her.

He arrived in front of her still coiled body he just plopped the bodies near her still huffing from sprinting all the way here.

Grey lazily strolled to his bag only to find his berries and snacks all soggy from the heavy rain earlier ~sigh~ "this bloody day keeps getting better." He stated sarcastically.

A pair emerald green eyes hovered over the now slumped grey. "We can share if your that hungry?" Jade said. Her body half coiled still in place but her face extended to him.

Grey looked up at her glowing eyes the only light in the pitch darkness around them. "I don't know how to cook and I haven't had raw meat before."

"Well there is a first time for everything so let me cook these up and we can dig in." She said with a wide smile

Grey watched as she slithered to the bats her body started showing green static coursing through her body before she bit the closest bat. The green current slowly cooked the body inside and out only letting out a little steam.

Grey looked at her puzzled and questioned "are you a tier three beast you seem kinda different from the one I knew?"

Jade just giggled a bit "nope, I'm a dual awakener it means I was born with two runes and when I became a tier three I might have four runes."

Grey could hear the smugness in her voice but just silently agreeded she had true talent just like karma he thought.

"Let's dig in before others come and interrupt us." He said as he slowly crept to the cooked bat. "Here goes nothing." He bit into the steamed bats wing with a quick bite.

He suddenly froze his eyes now a blazing red and his body felt great. He felt bats scent was now addictive before he started eating the whole thing while finishing the bones too.

Something that most rabbits wouldn't do not even the barbarian Hares.

Jade watched this shocked but didn't say anything as she started eating her bats.

Thanks to her shadow rune Jade had some night vision abilities so only she saw what happened after greys eyes started turning red he grew fangs and his ears became bat like whilst his fur turned black.

Only to slowly fade away after he finished eating. Leaving Jade puzzled but not pushing the matter for it seemed grey didn't mind the changes.

But he had no clue what was happening within his body at the moment. For he evolved into a crime against nature by accidently drinking a higher beings blood.

"Hey jade do you want to go back home? I'm going to visit the golden fang kingdom when I go back home I can always help you out."

He said sincerely.

"NOO!!!! sorry but I can't go back I am… I mean I have my own problems and the original plan was always to escape those cold blooded bastards."

He noticed her tone and put together that she was on the run from something but he didn't pry it wasn't his place.
