Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Arrival on Skyland

Lynx looked at the Robot that only looked down at him, but then the Robot looked away and spoke while looking around once again.

"For those who have harmed others deserved to be harmed too"

"Seek revenge, don't seek revenge, that's all up to you" The Robot added in its slow rusty voice.

"You can change the world and remove all those who wish to harm others, create a society of peace, love and even family" the Robot spoke while looking around, but said the last part and met Lynx's gaze. The last word lingered and replayed in Lynx's mind, "A family" and the Robot went back to repeating everything it said from before.

"How can you help me?" Lynx asked looking at the Robot. The Robot looked down at Lynx and then spoke.

"Who are you?"

The Machine went back to being silent and Lynx was lost for words. He didn't understand as the Robot in front of him said he could help him few moments ago, but now it was asking who he was.

"You said you could help me" Lynx said

"Do what?", "Restore the world and make it a better place?", "Help those who have been wronged for thousands of years?", "Do you seek peace or a happy life?", "Remove all Monsters from the world and become a hero?". "What do you seek?", the Robot asked while looking around before it looked at Lynx again with it's dark empty voidfull eyes.

"I want everything you offer, I just want a safer place, a place of equal for everyone"

"What would you give up for that?"

"Everything, anything I don't care I just want Iron 99 and dad, everyone from AE and the others, I don't care just take what you want and help me" Lynx cried with determination as tears rolled down his cheeks. The Robot looked at the boy before it silently as if it was reading him, contemplating what to do next and then a hatch opened from the Robot's chest.

"Eat it", Lynx climbed up onto the Robot and saw a small old looking pebble object.

"What is this?" Lynx asked but received no answer, the Robot remained silent gazing in the distance. Lynx took the object and hesitantly brought it to his mouth before swallowing it. At first he didn't feel anything, but then after a few seconds he slowly felt his body heating up and soon he felt a burning sensation within his chest. He released his hold and clutched his chest falling from the height, he didn't even feel when his body hit ground. The only pain that dominated his body was the excruciating burning feeling that was felt as if it was trying to escape his body. The images of pleasant and horrific scenes flashed before him as he was suffering, he coughed up blood uncontrollably and blood ran from his nose and painful tears came from his eyes. His vision blurred as he took a last look at the Machine that looked as if it was glowing and then everything faded into darkness.

Lynx woke up some time later with his clothes ragged than before as few strips of his shirt hanged to his body, and his pants were also torn up. He carefully stood up and opened his eyes and looked around, his eyes were hurting upon opening them, but within a few seconds they adjusted a little and the feeling was slightly gone. He looked around slowly and the surrounding was new to him. Light hit his skin and he shirked back searching for the shadows, when he was in the shadows he stuck one hand out into the brightness and then he realized it was light, possibly from the glowing ball that was called a sun. He had heard stories about it but never had he came in contact with it. He slowly took small steps forward and went out as the sun rays hit his body and he felt an overwhelming warmth and comfort, even discomfort, it burnt but it didn't bother him. He looked up into the sun with his eyes open and a single stream of tear rolled down his face, sometimes he would cry when he found something exciting or when he was sad, if he was where he was back then he would cry tears of joy, but now his tears were neither sadness nor happiness, he cried because he felt nothing despite finding a discovery. He stood for a few minutes basking in the sun as it was his first time feeling such warmth.

"It feels so warm" he muttered inwardly and closed his eyes.

People passed by him and saw him but simply ignored him. Lynx was dirty, ragged and looked homeless. After admiring the light Lynx turned around where he saw people, but they didn't care about him and didn't even bat an eye to offer help. Lynx was once an oblivious, helpful, kind, and caring person, he always painted a good picture for everything, but now things were different maybe he changed. He just stared at them with his empty eyes as if he was studying them and then walked away. Lynx had an expressionless face, an expression that could not be read. Lynx walked around and ventured wherever his mind told him, he continued walking without paying attention looking at the tall sardine packed buildings. Every corner, building and structure was new to him, while gazing he bumped into someone.

"Watch it man" a man said as he pushed Lynx aside and continued his journey. Lynx didn't say anything and kept walking, soon he passed a building and it reflected his reflection. Lynx took a few seconds observing himself, he realized he was dirty and covered in rags and so he tried asking for help as he didn't know where to go and the place was new to him, but everyone scorned, cursed and chased him away. As Lynx was walking around being shun by others a man watched from the side lines as he observed the boy closely and he could feel a rather unusual feeling about him, the man then walked over to Lynx to offer his help as he felt bad for the boy. The man had a cheerful aura and a bright smile as he offered his help, Lynx took the offer and followed the man as he led the way. As the man walked he gave information about everyone he passed or about the buildings, Lynx remained quiet and used his head to follow the man's finger as he pointed. They finally reached a building that was in a rather unusual state, but Lynx didn't mind, as they walked closer to the door the man introduced it as his home. He then explained that the room at the front was his and the other that was round the corner to the right, the room on the left belonged to someone else, going pass the room to the right the other room also belonged to him and the ones at the back going to the left belonged to others, Lynx could only nod as he tried to create a map with the man's description.

They then entered and the man placed down the materials he was carrying at the door, looking over Lynx's appearance, he then took him to a room and took out a set of clothing from the drawer, as the man did Lynx looked over the interior design of the room he was in.

"I think these will fit" the man said looking over the clothes before he threw them on a bed that was by the wall. He then showed Lynx to the shower and told him to come down when he was finish. Lynx nodded and watched the back of the man as he walked out closing the door behind him. Lynx walked to the shower undressing himself and entering. He looked around the shower wondering what to do next, while in thought he spotted a handle, using common sense he reached for it and gentle turned it multiple time before water finally ran out from the pipe above his head. Lynx jumped back when the water first sprayed out, but then he lowered his guard and approached it slowly, he then caught some in his palms looking at it closely, Lynx brought it closer to his face for closer inspection and it looked almost invisible, as if it wasn't there, but he could feel it. After a few seconds that felt like hours of studying the water in his palms he then started showering. When he was finish showering and getting dress he went down the stairs from where he came, as he walked down the stairs he then saw the man entering as he just came from outside.

"Oh you're finished, you took so long. I'm sure you enjoyed the bath" The man said with a heartily light laugh.

"Yeah, thank you" Lynx responded in a low voice as he nodded.

"Oh you can speak, I almost thought you were dumb" the man said with a laugh.

The man then told Lynx to sit around the small table that was in the room and he would be right back. Lynx was sitting and admiring the interior of the house when someone walked in looking down at some papers in his hand.

"Dad?" a boy called out not looking up from his papers.

The boy looked up from his papers and met Lynx's eyes and then went silent. The boy narrowed his eyes and strode over to Lynx, standing a few steps from him he kept his eyes down at him.

"Who are you?" the boy asked in a flat tone. Before Lynx could answer the man then appeared from behind the corner and greeted the boy.

"Ash you're back. Look I found him, he was wondering around and so I-", but before he could finish he was interrupted.

"Took him home" the boy said his irritation evident as he finished the sentence before the man could. The boy sighed heavily before speaking again "Don't you learn?"

"Anyways this is…" The man continued trying to change the topic then paused.

"Let me guess you don't know his name" The boy said as a statement instead of a question.

"Well everything happened so fast" the man said trying to defend himself with his lame excuse.

"Sure" the boy added obviously not listening to the man. Lynx stayed quiet watching them bicker amongst each other.

"Anyways what's your name?" the boy asked ignoring his father as he made eye contact with Lynx.

"It's Lynx" he answered plainly in a low voice. The boy then repeated the name multiple time before saying it was an unusual name, but his father just told him that the name was unique. The boy then asked for a Surname, but when Lynx heard the question he didn't know what the boy meant.

"A surname?" Lynx repeated unsure what it meant.

"Anyways forget that, the person here is my son Ash" the man said introducing his son trying to divert the conversation. The man then told them he had to go and that Ash should be nice. The man left without saying another word and took the papers Ash was holding. Ash stood there for a few seconds before sighing loudly.

"Anyways that idiot is my dad, His name's Wester, I bet he didn't tell you"

"No" Lynx said answering his question.

"I know, that wasn't a question. He's an idiot so don't believe everything he says". "This is such a hassle" Ash said to himself sighing once again. He then walked to the stairs and told Lynx he was going to his room and invited him to come with him because his father said he should be nice. They both entered the room and Ash went over to one of his drawers looking for something before pulling it out and handed it to Lynx.

"Here you can play this in the meantime" Ash said handing a small handheld game machine to Lynx who took it. Ash then went to the small table that was in his room and started reading, Lynx was only looking at the thing in his hand and soon Ash realized he wasn't hearing any noise, he then looked over his shoulder and saw that Lynx was only looking at the game console while turning it around.

"Don't he know how to play?" Ash muttered to himself before walking over to Lynx. He then took the game from Lynx's hand and turned it the correct way before turning it on, Ash felt like he was an older brother looking after the younger one, but he dismissed the thought quickly. He looked down at Lynx and finally noticed that he was in his clothes, but said nothing about it, he knew it was his father's doing. Ash looked at Lynx and was curious about his whereabouts.

"So how old are you?" he asked looking down at Lynx who was playing a simple run and jump game.

"I don't know" Lynx said plainly trying to focus on the game and Ash squinted his eyes in response.

"I see"

"Where do you live?" Ash asked continuing his investigation.

"Nowhere I guess" Lynx answer again without looking at Ash

"Is that so?" Ash answered trying not to be fazed by his plain answers. "So then where are you from?"

Lynx hand then paused as he died and the game screen displayed game over. Lynx was frozen trying to remember where he was from. His hands slowly reached up to his head and gripped his hair as he muttered to himself,

"Where am I from?" he asked himself repeatedly, he looked as if he was going into a panic. Images then flashed across his mind and he jolted backwards falling over the chair, his heart beat increasing as he gasped for air. Ash looked at Lynx's sudden change in actions and called out to him.

"Lynx?" Ash called out. Lynx heard a voice in far off corner of his mind and then he abruptly stopped breathing heavily and went back to his normal composure as he picked up the game that fell. He fixed the chair and sat up straight and started playing again.

"I don't know" he answered once again with a plain voice.
