A/N: OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I'm burning things.
————————————————————————————————
"Hey, Al. Where should we go this sunday?"
Yang barged in the shed, now designated; with Tai's permission, as Altair's room. Altair looked at her from the makeshift bed, [ Panthera ] with a foam mattress, with some pillows and blankets. He had just woken up from his nap, when Yang barged into the room.
"I don't know. What about a bowling alley?"
"A bowling alley? Isn't that kinda boring?"
Altair sat up on his bed before contemplating.
' Cafe? No we just went thre yesterday. Arcade? Nope, I'm not winning against her. Camping? Might be fun. Or ma– '
Before he could continue to think, Yang's voice interrupted him, as she announced something very surprising.
"What about we go camping?" Yang said while leaning against the door, looking at him with eyes glowing with anticipation. He was somewhat left speechless by her suggestion.
"Are you psychic?"
"Nope. Just been planning that's all" Yang pulled out a packed yellow bag from behind, just on the outside one could already see the camping essentials, a sleeping bag and a tent, attached to a bag big enough to hold clothes, untensils, pots, butane canister and a burner, foldable chairs.
"Since when?" Altair asked with curiosity as he went to inspect Yang's bag. Yang smiled smugly, welling up with pride, as she rubbed her the top of her lip with her finger.
"Since you said so a few days ago"
One might be asking, what happened a few days ago. So let me enlighten you with a flashback.
—————————————————————————FLASHBACK(6 Days ago)
"It feels like we've been to all the spots to have a date in Vale" Yang slumped down on the table, while Altair, who was besides her patted her back, whilst taking a sip of his iced coffee.
"It's because you insisted on having a date every day"
"But it's to hangout more without Dad seeing us. Do you know how much I have to hold back from hugging on the house?! It's excruciating." Yang complained, her voice muffled by the table beneath her. Altair just smiled as he finished his coffee.
"Then why don't we go camping?" He said as carried her in his arms away from the booth. Yang didn't resist, letting him take her away, as she thought about what he said.
————————————————————————————————Present.
"So, from my off handed comment, you prepared for a camping trip in advance." Altair said as he looked up to Yang, who still had a smug smile. He let out an amused sigh, before he stood up, and hugged her.
"Yup, yup. Reward me for my efforts!" Yang smiled brightly as Altair patted her head and gave her kisses on her cheek.
"I'll go prepare my bag then"
"Oh let me help" With that the two packed his bag together, spending the whole afternoon with packing and preparing ingredients they were going to cook. Ruby and Tai helped them, with Tai thinking it was a trip with friends, and Ruby knowing that it'll be just the two them going on the camping trip.
A few hours later, the two hopped on [ Panthera ] and drove away to a secluded campsite Yang reserved for the two of them.
As they drove, the sun set, casting a beautiful orange glow on them, as the air rushed passed ther bodies. Altair focused on the road, while Yang hugged him from behind, happy about their "Camping Date".
The road to the site was peaceful, it was just the two of them and the road. Silence filled their journey, but it was a serene silence, rather than an awkward one.
.
When they reached the campsite, the stars had already appeared on the deep dark blue sky, untouched by the light pollution, letting the light of the galaxy, and stars to shine through.
Exhuastion weighted down on their bodies from the long trip. However it was worthy it. The campsite was a sight to behold, a crystal clear lake sat in the middle of a beautiful forest, on the side was dock with a few boats parked. A restroom, situated far away from the initial site. And sink just near enough to not be inconvenient to go to.
With no more words, the two went to work. Yang set up the tent, while Altair made a fire, and readied the burner in order to cook. Tonight's dinner? Steak and premade mashed potatoes with gravy.
Yang finished setting up the tent, and went to Altair to help him, but she smiled, seeing him already cooking their meal for tonight. Altair didn't talk, as he focused on cooking the meal for the two of them. After a few minutes, he finally finished cooking, he got up to call Yang, but she was already sat on a foldable chair, besides her was another chair meant for him, while in front was a small table.
"Let's eat then" With a tired smile, he set the food on the table and prayed. Yang waited for him to finish, and when he did they ate in silence. The only noise heard came from the fire, as it crackled. And the crickets from the distance, chirping.
"Tasty as always" Yang said, having a spoon full mashed potatoes and a slice of steak. She lightly jabbed Altair, who just smiled before offering her a spoon full of food.
Feeding each other was the mood.
Heh.
"Oh, look the stars Al" Yang pointed at the sky, more specifically, at a constellation she knew. Altair looked up with great interest, looking at where Yang pointed.
"Those stars, from there, there and there, form the constellation Freja minor—" Yang continued to explain the stars, while Altair listen carefully, committing every word she said into memory.
And so they sat there peacefully, leaning against each other, letting the night run past them. Together in each other's warmth.
