CHAPTER 49šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„

JAKE'S POV šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„

I couldn't believe my eyes.

The last time I saw my father, I was 13.

When he asked me to take care of Cara, and be a strong man for him. He told me he was going on a journey that would benefit everyone. That he's going to be a hero. And I believed him.

He abandoned Us just to come to this place. I always dreamt of finding him and always wanted to ask him why he never came back home.

I even wanted to use Cassie's powers to find him. I was that desperate.

But somehow Cassie still led me to him.

"Father?" I questioned, my voice shaken.

"It's nice to see you again son. My Goodness, you've grown A lot. Into a handsome young man I must say." He said and smiled.

"Spare me the sentimental compliment. Where have you been? I almost thought you were dead but apparently you're very much alive and healthy from the looks of it." I said to him still in disbelief.

"Son, I know I have a lot of explanation to give both to you and your sister. And I am willing to explain but son, you cannot leave this place especially with the fifth element with you." He said to me and looked at Cassie and back to me.

"I don't understand, you left us! You left me! And you're worried about Her leaving?" I asked him, all the emotions I had slipping in.

"Jake, me leaving was for a good reason. I didn't just leave to go take a vacation. I left to build this resolution that is to come. I left to lead the great crusade into freedom." He said proudly.

"What crusade could be more important than your children?" I asked him heartbroken.

"My son, we will have a wonderful future as a one big happy family. I promise. But that can happen only once we win this war." He said to me.

"What war?!!! You are the only one who wants this war, You!. The school's merely trying to defend themselves from all the attacks, apparently you have been sending. So just stop this nonsense." I yelled at him angrily.

"I knew this would happen. That they would brainwash you and your sister and turn you against me. But it's fine. Once we win this war, I'll make sure to unbrainwash you my dear son." He said to me and I shaked my head.

"No one brainwashed me. If anyone is brainwashed, it's you and your stupid crusade." I say to him.

"Do you not realize all the terrible things that school has done and is still doing? How many children they've deprived the free given privilege to study at their heritage school? The suffering those that are cast out has to go through. You wouldn't understand son, my only mistake was leaving you and your sister behind with the enemies." He said to me.

"But now it's the time to make things right. Join me here my son, lead with me, let's give these people their freedom back, help me win this war." He added trying to convince me.

"I'm not staying here, and I'm definitely not helping you win anything. You have no right to ask that of me after all you've done to me and Cara." I simply said to him.

He let out a small sigh.

"Son. You have to stand by me. I am still your father, your flesh and blood. You cannot betray me by standing with that school of yours." He said sternly, looking serious and intimidating.

I squared my jaw and faced him upfront,"I am not fighting this war with you. Father. And you're not going to keep us here against our will." I said to him looking him right in the eyes.

We maintained eye contact for some seconds before he smirked at me .

"Of course son. Whatever you say. If you want to leave, I won't stop you." He said to me.

"Okay." I replied abruptly. I don't know why I suddenly felt a sense of sadness that he wouldn't even try to stop me from leaving.

He looked over to Cassie, "Its a shame, your father would have been proud if you decided to join us in this war, I guess you ARE also your mother's daughter. A betrayer, just like she was." He said to Cassie.

"Hey don't say that to her. You have no idea who she really is." I defended Cassie.

"And you do?" He questioned me.

"Of course I do. And I love her too." I said to him.

"Oh son, I hope one day, you will realize that Love is the beginning of weakness. And I do not wish weakness upon my own son. Infact that is the reason I left you and your sister, just to achieve this greatness." He said to me.

"Your words mean nothing to me." I said spitefully to him.

"Very well. Mr Ken, do you have everything you need?" My father asked him.

"Yes, I believe I do." He said and smirked.

"Delightful. Do make sure my son is escorted out of the gates with his friends." He said while looking at me.

"Very well Sir." Mr Ken said to him.

"This way please." Mr Ken lead the way for us to follow.

I looked back one more time to take in the sight of my father. He did look a little older, but of course it's been Seven years since I last saw him.

I put my face down and focused back on the way being shown to us.

"Are you ok?" Cassie asked me.

"I'm okay." I replied and gave a weak smile.

"I had no idea he was your father when I first saw him." She said trying to explain.

"I know. Don't worry about it or him... we'll be home soon." I said to her and she nodded.

We finally came out where the others were waiting. "Okay, they're free to go." Mr Ken said to his little minions.

"What? Why?" The blue fire boy asked him.

"Even the girl too?" The other ice girl asked.

"Yes. It's an order, directly from the Boss. They're all free to go. But don't worry, you still have the war, and during then you can do.....k*ll, whomever you like." Mr Ken said to them and they nodded disappointedly.

"That's a bummer. Guess I'll just kick your ass next time." The fire boy said to me.

"Don't hold your breath." I said to me.

"Now, I do believe you all know the way you came in from. Please do make use of the same way and kindly exit yourselves from the premises. Have a lovely and dark night." Mr Ken said to us and left us standing there.

His minions followed right behind him.

"Okay. That was unexpected. They're letting us go, just like that?" Damon asked curiously.

"Yeah. Guess they are." I said to him.

"What happened in there though? Did you guys meet someone?" Sage asked me.

I looked at Cassie and she was already looking at me.

"No one interesting. Tell you guys later. For now, we better get out of here before they change their minds." I said to them all.

"Right. True!" Madeline supported.

The five of us made our way outside the gates swiftly and was out in a few minutes.

"Well never doing something like this ever again. Sorry Cassie." Madeline said out loud.

"I don't blame you. How are we even going to get back to the school? Do you guys still remember the way back?" Cassie asked all of us.

"I guess us getting back to school is in her hands now." Sage said and gave Madeline a scowl.

"Hey don't pressure me! I don't like it when I'm being pressured." Madeline replied to sage.

Ok I admit getting home might take a while for us..
