Ivana Bennett was never one to overcomplicate things. Once the business conversation was over and everything that needed to be said was said, she immediately hung up the phone and threw herself into her work.
Placing the phone back on the table, Ivana raised her wrist to check the time.
By this point, it was already late night in Bitterford. Worried that she might disturb Olivia Parker's rest, she refrained from calling her right away.
Picking up the locator on the table, she double-checked the positions of the two children. Once she confirmed they were both safe and sound in their rooms, her gaze returned to the crystal globe.
Inside the globe, the blue liquid continued to ripple gently, and the tiny boat floating atop swayed along, as though it were sailing across an ocean in the face of wind and waves.
Staring at the crystal globe for a moment, Ivana straightened up, carefully cradled the globe in both hands, and placed it on a shelf inside her bedroom.
