Even as he looks at me, Tyne's fingers don't stop moving. He gives me a deep look, then checks the phone of my best friend, before he smiles as he raises it toward me.
"Done. I have wiped out everything you have stolen. So why must I despair? You don't have anything against me anymore, but you are still here, close at hand, while your friend is still in my hands. What is it that you are counting on now?"
'Now despair, and prepare to become the masterpiece in my pets' collection!'
I smile brightly at him. I hold my bag instead of carrying it on my back again, and hold my hand over the edge of the rooftop.
'What the fick is the flat chested bitch doing now? Does she have something else to save her?'
"Didn't you think that I took too long to answer when you called me to the lab?"
Tyne frowns. I relish the ominous feeling that spreads in his mind like ink in water.
"The first thing I did before coming here is to make a copy of the files on another cloud library."
Really, now Tyne is not smiling anymore. Not even a bit. His face changes, before he looks at me with calm, chilling anger that almost breaks my composure. Fortunately, his mind is an open book. It is just tiring to keep reading it. My mental stamina is bottoming out after a whole day of class followed by a chess match where the stakes are high, then this, the confrontation.
"Yes, Mister Tyne. It is exactly as you are thinking. Hey! Stop!"
My shout manages to make him pause and I hurriedly fire my next arrow.
"I set a timer for a few emails to be sent out with all the files in the library. There is only a few minutes left. If you take another step, I will let go of my bag, and by the time you manage to get my phone again, everything will be too late. And I made sure to add a detailed explanation to the whole thing."
*Ba-Doom*
The way his heartbeat resounded in his mind gives me a rush filled with the sweetness of revenge, not only for the girls he has abused, but mostly for Emmie, who he has left unconscious downstairs.
*Boom– Boom– Boom!!!*
Tyne almost jumps at the sound. It came from someone banging on the door he has locked. He turns back, then whips his head back to look at me, looking fiercer than ever.
"What have you done!?!"
He growled those words more than he said them. He sounded just like the monster he is inside when he spoke like that. But at the same time, my situation becomes more dangerous.
I can only keep firing arrows at him to keep him at bay and prevent him from letting his madness run its course.
"I said making a copy of your library of trophies was the first thing I did, not the only thing."
"Speak!!!"
His shout startles me, and the adrenaline makes me speed up as I also raise my voice.
"I connected my phone to the broadcast system! Everything we said here has been heard throughout the whole school and by everyone who has yet to go home!"
Tyne freezes. Like, literally. His mind stops thinking, his body does not move, and his heart almost seems ready to stop.
*Boom– Boom– Boom!!!*
I exhale, and continue more calmly while the door is still being assaulted.
"You are not the only one who has things to do after classes are over. But you should know that, right? Early in the morning and late in the afternoon, those are the best periods to assault the students you were supposed to guide in their adolescence, right?"
"..."
I glance behind him and try to spread my calm toward him.
"Now you have little choice, teacher. No matter what you do, it is over."
"Is it?"
"Huh?"
Tyne seems to come back to life, and I don't understand his question. It leaves me confused, and I suddenly feel like he might become a beast with his back against the wall.
"What do you mean by that?"
"You called me here. Do you have anything to defend yourself against me?"
"..."
*Boom– Boom– Boom!!!*
"You don't? It doesn't matter. I can help you improvise the weapon you threatened me with to make me lose my reputation out of some sick adolescence's antisocial desire. I suppose that started with the accident of last year and the death of your parents, didn't it? Poor thing. However, what you just did can cause trouble for you and your family!"
My eyes go wide in surprise. The bastard is basically twisting things around, painting himself in the best light possible and turning me into a deranged student suffering from a psychological disorder.
I don't regret choosing the rooftop, because only here can make him oblivious to his own words being broadcasted throughout the whole school ground. But it is only now that I am fathoming the danger of the situation, now that everything is about to be over, and Emmie is already out of the woods.
*Boom– Boom– Boom!!!*
I subconsciously look at my bag for the phone inside.
'Humph! With the phone in there, it is useless now!'
I whip my head back to look at the owner of that thought, and I see his smile which is sinister like something out of a gory movie depicting a serial killer. It is like Jack the Reaper in another world, in another time.
*Boom– Boom– Boom!!!*
I look at the fucking door that refuses to give way again, and that is my mistake. Tyne runs to me and I fail to react fast enough. I reflexively let go of my bag and clamp my hands on his wrists as he tries to choke me.
"You– Let– go–"
That is so stupid of him. I'm happy that he has become stupid.
How can he be so stupid? I actually feared the plan he spoke of more than this stupid act of violence and all the blind rage I read in his mind. But that doesn't take away the fact that he might kill me.
No! He is trying to kill me!!!
