Chapter 6 - 006

THUP,

"Well done whiner, I didn't expect you to sense mana so early. Should I call you a genius now?", Nara said pulling my cheeks. She looked like she was genuinely surprised.

"Good work Roy", Anna also said with a surprised expression.

"How on earth did I sense mana, I spit out blood for God's sake!",

"That's normal brat, as your body's meridians were clogged, mana had to forcefully open them up which slightly caused you that discomfort. The next time you try sensing mana, you wouldn't experience such a thing again."

"Meridians, what's that??,"

"A typical human body has 7 meridians, the spots which allow the flow of mana and generally to sense mana the meridians must be unlocked. It's a complicated process, I'll explain it to you when you grow up a bit" Anna said.

She then held out a huge transparent orb in front of me and told me place my hand on it.

I quickly placed, curious as to what it was.

I felt a prickling sensation on my index finger and a small drop of my blood flowed into the orb.

The orb began to glow, it suddenly displayed light green colour. Initially the glow was dim but slowly the glow began to get brighter and brighter.

At one point the glow was so bright that I felt blinded by such intense light and this was day time.

Nara was grinning from one ear to the other content with what had been displayed.

"Wind, the brat has an affinity to wind, and it's even higher than mine.", Nara said pinching my ears.

Anna was pretty content too, I didn't know if it was good but seeing their expressions it must be good.

If not for one, the orb once again glowed, this time displaying, crimson red glowing as bright as the previous one.

But with this I felt heat, I could feel the surroundings warm up.

Even I could deduce what element it was.

It was fire, the most destructive element said to ever exist.

Seeing the crimson red light, both Anna's and Nara's expression turned dark.

It felt like they were remembering some bad times.

The silence was loud, way too loud.

"What's wrong??", I asked snapping them out of their dilemma.

Nara looked at me with unreadable eyes, but it quickly changed.

"Look at you brat, dual elementalist, that's very rare. That's the element of fire, you awakened. Both the elements are of high grade, congrats kiddo",

This was the first I ever heard a compliment from her.

Anna as usual stroked my hair like a proud sister.

Unlike what I read this is completely different.

Mana only awakens after the age of 10 for commoners due to their bloodline difference.

That shouldn't be a problem but, I'm only 7 or 8. Although one might argue for premature enlightenment, that's impossible in my case.

Anna precisely said the words 'Mana sense', meaning that I already awakened mana.

Such a case is only possible if I was a noble, the one with a pure bloodline.

If that's the case, then why are we living in the slums?,

My doubts slowly were increasing. I knew something had happened.

Anna, Alice and Nara. All three of them looked like they were nobles.

They match the generic description of a noble from the books I read.

The question was me, I looked like a being from slum.

My face wasn't a handsome one, nor did I have an amazing build.

I was pretty mediocre, so why did I already awaken mana.

There were a lot of questions running rampant inside my brain.

My chain of thoughts were broken by Nara's words.

"Let's go Roy, it's about time you too learnt the sword", she said and dragged me to the basement.

The entrance to the basement was right next to Reynolds room, who was currently unavailable due to some urgent work.

I quickly began heading down the wooden stairs.

Rocks were arranged diagonally with a small glow stone placed on every 4th rock.

The stairs looked well designed. Roughly after a while, I saw a huge space decorated with a lot of weapons and necessary utilities.

The walls had lot weapons hung on them.

The area was huge, at least a 1000sqft.

There were numerous racks containing, all sorts of weapons.

The white wall along with the shiny metal hung on them, made this place look like a weapon treasury.

Nara chucked at my dumbstruck face.

"Let's go, although you did say you wanted swordsmanship, let's get you the weapon suiting you the most",

.

.

.

"Choose a weapon you dorkhead",

"How am I supposed to know, aren't you my elder. Give me some ideas",

"Just examine everything and the moment you feel the weapon you choose it",

"Feel a weapon!! Do you really have no brains, guess you're all muscle, eat some vegetables Nara",

BANG,

"Shut up and do as I said, if you keep whining I'm going to chew your head", Nara grumbled with an irritated look.

TCH,

I walked toward the weapon ignoring the pain on my head.

I tried swinging every type of weapons I could find.

Spear, bow, Scythe, Mace, Shield, Nunchaks even a plain staff but none of them built my interest.

I then went to the sword section.

I picked a long sword and tried swinging it.

I felt a bit connected but still out of place.

I tried every type of swords, I felt most compatible with one side sharp blades like katana, kodachi or a taichi.

But the moment my eyes landed on one particular type I knew this was the one.

A Scimitar.

Not a regular one but this was longer than a typical scimitar.

It was not too bent nor was it perfectly straight.

For me, it was just perfect.

I swung the blade a few times, and felt content, but scimitars are always meant to be dual wielded, so I picked up another scimitar of the same length, I held them both in my hands.

I then felt it, the satisfaction, a strange feeling, but I knew this was the one.

I turned to look at Nara and saw her smiling.

"It's quite rare for someone to choose a scimitar, good choice, oh and I also dual wield. For your surprise I wield a khopesh, let's get along then, S T U D E N T", she said with a sadistic smile.
