Captain Holo is amazing. He wakes up every morning two hours earlier than me to train with his weapon.
A nail is what he called it when I asked for it's name. It's kind of short but Holo always hits his targets.
During today's dungeon dive ,we started descending deeper than usual under the Captain's lead.
We managed to dive all the way down to the tenth floor. Surprisingly ,the captain was basically toying with the orcs on this floor.
I tried to keep up by killing imps and even a orc or two ,but the captain somehow managed to use his nail to slice orcs into ashes in just a few seconds
During all of that he also never tired during battles. Every few minutes he would spend a small bit of time with his eyes closed.
Only for eight seconds. But those eight seconds seem to instantly restore his stamina and even heal small injuries he acquires during battle.
Lili's bag was eventually filled up to the brim ,so we headed back up towards Orario.
But on the way up Captain Holo looked a bit downcast with a vague shadow looming over his face ,so I tried to find out what was wrong.
"Holo ,you look a little disappointed about today's dungeon dive."
"Hm. My nail is a little weak. I felt restrained by it's quality."
Huh? This is the first time the Captain has spoken more than one sentence at a time. He seems pretty concerned about his nail.
It's decided then ,pool our money to help the Captain! I'll even take out my savings under the couch at home.
"Should we go out to a blacksmith shop after visiting the Guild?"
Now that I'm thinking about gear and all that. I should have enough money to buy a new set of armor too.
My current set is pretty worn out so I should probably replace it.
As we were making our way back through the seventh floor ,there was a rumbling sound of a monster stomping towards us.
It's distinctive roar sounded out as the monster approached ,it was a Minotaur.
"Why is there a Minotaur on the lower levels?!"
While I was panicking Captain stayed calm and started walking towards it.
"Lili. Stay back. Bell! Fight or Flight?"
The captain's decisiveness as he shook me out of my panic in a single moment set me straight.
I held my short sword tight and prepared to fight for our lives with the Captain.
He closed in towards its side in a single moment and then slashed out as he passed by it.
It seemed somewhat shallow but as the Minotaur tried to turn and retaliate ,I sprinted forward and slashed towards its left eye.
Slashing through the middle of it's eyeball ,I managed to reduce its vision before jumping backwards.
I threw myself onto the ground to avoid a counter attack and rolled away to gain enough distance to get back up.
But as I got up I saw the Minotaur turned towards me getting its back slashed up by the captain.
The only thing that came to mind was 'Death by a Thousand Cuts'.
With how slow the Minotaur was he managed to slice up its back seven times before retreating at a ghostly speed.
But as he retreated ,the Minotaur staggered forward and suddenly the captain reappeared behind it continued to slice up its back.
For someone who was concerned about their weapon's quality a few minutes ago ,the tip of his nail seemed unusually sharp.
Every strike managed to draw blood and in just thirty seconds the Minotaur was slashed to death.
After finishing of the Minotaur ,Captain Holo's face lit up and he even smiled! I've never seen that in the entire time I've known the Captain?!
