Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Die Beneath the Peony, Languish as a Ghost in Style!_1

Upon hearing the mention of ghosts, Little Beans's reaction was particularly intense.

She let out a startled cry and then threw herself straight into Elder Sister Su Yike's arms.

Throughout, she dared not take a deep breath, shivering incessantly, fearing that any larger movement would alert the ghosts to her presence.

As for Second Sister, Su Erke, standing beside them, although she was equally panicked at the moment, she didn't have such an exaggerated reaction as Little Beans.

She instinctively shrank back, trying her best to find some sense of security.

But overall, she was still relatively calm.

Compared to her two sisters, Elder Sister Su Yike was in a much better situation.

Apart from some initial panic, she quickly calmed down and started thinking of a way to deal with the Solitary Ghosts outside the window.

As she pondered, Su Yike's eyes suddenly lit up.

That's right, Li Hang! He moved back in a few days ago! Erke told me he's evolved into a Semi-Advanced Level creature, apparently strong enough to even kill a tiger—so ferocious, so ridiculously strong! A Semi-Advanced Level creature... That's what so many people strive for their entire lives... For such a formidable person to deal with two Solitary Ghosts that can barely break a window... wouldn't that be child's play? This is it, we're saved! There's a way to survive!

"Bro, I'll go find Li Hang for help." With those words, Su Yike hastened out the door, taking two steps at a time and trotting away from home.

Su Yan wanted to say there was no need to bother others, but his sister had run off too quickly.

Before he could utter a word to stop her, she had already dashed away without a trace.

In fact, Su Yan could handle the two Solitary Ghosts outside the window on his own.

He had just looked up some information on an online encyclopedia, learning that Solitary Ghosts are actually like experience piñatas.

Not to mention their low killing power; even their intelligence was deficient, and their danger level wasn't high.

The only thing to be wary of was their Creature skill, the Ghost Soul Technique, which was incredible.

Creatures with this Skill, whether torn apart by Five horse dismemberment or having their bones crushed and scattered to the wind, could resurrect on the spot with full health within a certain time after death, as long as one of their kind was within a ten-meter radius.

But to Su Yan, that was no issue at all.

Those two Solitary Ghosts outside the window—without exaggeration, he could finish one with each punch.

And that was without even putting much effort into it.

He could wipe them out instantly, with no need to worry about them infinitely reviving each other.

TAP TAP TAP...

Just then, a series of footsteps echoed from the corridor outside.

Su Yan had just looked toward the sound when he saw a group of people walking in.

There were men and women, young and old, and leading them was his Elder Sister Su Yike.

Undoubtedly, these were the reinforcements Su Yike had run to fetch, ready to strike hard at the two Solitary Ghosts outside the window.

Su Yan glanced briefly at the assembled neighbors, and a tall girl about his age successfully caught his attention.

The girl wore a loose T-shirt, her messy brown hair cascading beside her delicate cheeks, giving her an air of disheveled beauty.

She had a very prominent nose, and her eyes held a hint of light blue; at first glance, she seemed like a Mixed-blood Little Fairy.

Noticing Su Yan's gaze seemingly sizing her up, the girl's cheeks flushed with a hint of red.

She looked at Su Yan somewhat shyly, managing a subtle smile and a nod as a polite greeting.

Su Yan also smiled and politely nodded in response.

At this moment, a sturdy young man in the crowd noticed this interaction.

He slowly walked out of the crowd and said with a smile, "Su Yan, for the sake of your health, I advise you to minimize contact with girls."

The smile on the young man's face was sunny, giving off a refreshing warmth.

Seeing Su Yan look somewhat astonished, he quickly explained, "I took a brief look at your physical condition and felt that you're suffering from a surplus of yin and a deficiency of yang. It's really not suitable for you to be in frequent contact with girls."

He had barely finished speaking for two seconds before he realized he might have said something inappropriate, and he immediately added with a laugh, "Of course, if it's between relatives, it probably won't be a big issue. Blood relations are close, so it won't cause a conflict in your destiny."

This sturdy young man's words, at first listen, seemed caring, but they had a way of exposing others' sore points.

Everyone in the neighborhood knew Su Yan had once had his essence drained by a Fox Demon.

They also knew his body was always sickly; he was frequently admitted to the hospital, languishing in bed and leading a very miserable life.

Thus, everyone usually avoided this sensitive topic on purpose.

After all, it was a sore spot for him, and hearing about it would undoubtedly cause some discomfort.

As the person in question, Su Yan was, of course, well aware of this.

He looked up at the burly young man, who was none other than the Semi-Advanced Level creature Li Hang, often mentioned by Erke.

This was the kid from next door who used to come over to pick fights, only to be outmatched and thoroughly beaten by Su Yan every time.

So... is this guy here to settle old scores from childhood? Su Yan couldn't help but feel both amused and exasperated. This guy really holds a grudge, he thought. Just to take a dig at me now, he doesn't hesitate to feign profundity in front of everyone. Talking about imbalances of yin and yang, and how for my health's sake, I should stay away from girls. But the thing is, the current me is no longer the sickly kid of the past. I'm a powerful Advanced Level Being. And how could the body of a grand Advanced Level Being suffer from an excess of yin and a deficiency of yang? Even a casual onlooker would know this is blatant nonsense.

Su Yan figured, Li Hang is just spouting rubbish. He probably caught wind of the incident with the Fox Demon draining my essence, and my subsequent sickliness, which is why he made such a remark.

It was a good thing the neighbors present were all merely the lowest-grade Ordinary creatures.

They mostly couldn't tell that he was feigning profundity or malevolently slandering someone else.

Considering the incredibly robust physique of Advanced Level Beings, forget girls—even if you brought over a few Fox Demons, Su Yan could sort them out decisively.

He would launch devastating blows, knocking out a Fox Demon with each punch, leaving them kneeling and begging for mercy.

A surplus of yin? Avoiding women? Hah, such absurdity.

Su Yan was not a petty person.

Even though Li Hang was publicly mocking him, he felt no anger.

However, not being angry didn't mean he enjoyed being ridiculed.

He had always considered himself a gentleman, and gentlemen don't let grudges last overnight—they settle them on the spot.

Therefore, retaliating whenever provoked suited his style.

"Li Hang," Su Yan said with a smile, "to die for love is a romance even for a ghost. But for someone like you, single since birth, I suppose that's hard to comprehend, isn't it?"

While Su Yan said this with a smile, Li Hang, listening, felt like he wanted to cry.

The simple phrase "single since birth" directly shattered Li Hang's defenses.

It dealt a ton of critical damage.
