"Father, it's us."
"My sons," Odin's soft voice echoed. "I've been waiting for you."
"We've come to take you home." Thor said.
"Home? Yes," Odin said thoughtfully. "home."
"Loki, lift your magic." Thor hissed, assuming Loki must have done something to Odin, he never recalled his father acting like this.
"Your brother has not used any magic on your father." Frigga cut in. "Though I am sure that if anyone other than me could, it would be Loki." She said, giving Loki a proud smile.
"Your mother is correct," Odin chuckled. "on both points."
"Father, I know we failed you, but we can make this right." Thor began. "I…"
"No, no my son, it is I that had failed you." Odin cut him off. "I have failed all three of you." He said in a sad voice. "It is upon us, the destruction of Asgard, ragnarok."
"No," Thor shook his head. "I stopped ragnarok, I put an end to Surtur."
"No," This time it was Odin who shook his head. "it's already begun, she's coming. My life was all that held her back, but… my time has come. I cannot keep her away any longer." He said in a sombre voice.
"Father, who… who are you talking about?" Thor asked, undeniably not knowing what Odin was talking about.
"The goddess of death, Hela." Odin said. Harry - who had been standing a short distance back and trying not to get in the way of this family moment - snapped to attention at those words. "My firstborn child, your sister." He added. Thor and Loki exchanged looks before turning to Frigga, the unasked question was met with a nod from Asgard's queen.
"What?" Thor breathed, looking like he still hadn't fully processed what he had heard.
"Her violent appetites grew beyond my control," Odin sighed. "I couldn't stop her… so… I imprisoned her, locked her away." If he looked behind himself then he would have seen Harry staring at him with narrowed eyes. "She draws her strength from Asgard, once she gets there her powers will be… limitless."
"Well… we… whatever it is, we can stop it together. We can face it together!"
"No," Odin shook his head, taking a small breath before he continued. "I'm on a different path now."
"So you're just going to leave them with your mess?" Harry spoke up, causing all four of them to turn to him. "Why are you dying anyway? What's wrong with you?"
"We thought he had more time," Frigga admitted. "the spell he has cast to keep Hela imprisoned, it draws on his very life force. In mere moments the spell will be broken."
"I…" Odin's words became lost as a shiver went through his body. "… I believe it has just been broken."
"She's coming." Frigga quietly realised.
"Yes. My time… my time is now." Odin said. "I… I love you my sons, my wife. I love the three of you." He said before bowing his head, preparing to meet his fate.
"No," Harry said under his breath as he shook his head, "no, no, no, no!" He rushed forwards and grabbed Odin, wrapping one arm around the elderly king's neck while his wand appeared in his other hand, Harry pressed the wand tip against Odin's chest.
"What are you doing?!" Odin gasped as a bright, golden light began shinning from Harry and transferring to Odin through the wand. The other three quickly jumped to their feet in shock.
"The living aren't through with you yet." Harry said through gritted teeth, tiring quickly.
"Harry! What are you…"
"He's preventing your father's death!" Frigga said, cutting off Thor. "He's transferring his life energy into Odin!"
"Is that even possible?" Thor blurted out in shock, though part of him was very glad that Harry was trying to keep his father alive.
"Not if he tries it with your average mortal." Loki told Thor just before Harry let go of Odin, Odin fell off the bench and on to his hand and knees while Harry collapsed down onto his own hand and knees.
"You… you fool!" Odin said in-between heavy breaths. "Do you realise what you just did? The… spell was already broken! I…" Whatever Odin was about to say was cut off as green, cloudy portal opened.
A few seconds later a woman walked out of the portal. She had pale skin, long black hair, a green and black body suit that appeared to have small rips all over. Her lips curled up into a smile, one that got bigger when she saw the group in front of her, specifically when she saw Odin stand up.
"Hello Father," She spoke, her voice ripping through the air. "I'm back."
