Star Forest
After passing through a dense forest, the view before Ye Feng and Xiao Wu suddenly opened up. Ye Feng narrowed his eyes, taking in a breathtaking sight that words could hardly capture.
A clear, tranquil lake lay before them, its presence thickening the air with moisture. The lake's surface reflected the towering ancient trees around it, while the golden sunlight shimmered across the water, casting a radiant glow that made everything sparkle with crystal clarity.
Off to the side of this picturesque scene stood a massive creature that resembled both a mountain and a beast.
Its dark fur glistened faintly under the soft light of the stars and moon. Though it stood on all fours, its shoulder height exceeded seven meters. The creature resembled a mix between a gorilla and a chimpanzee, its body entirely black except for a pair of enormous amber eyes that glowed like lanterns. Its massive frame was a tapestry of muscle—bulging and chiseled, each curve like a small mountain. It was a perfect fusion of raw power and majestic beauty.
"Xiao Wu!" the massive creature spoke, its deep voice booming across the clearing.
The giant ape tilted its head to look at Ye Feng, its glowing eyes landing on Xiao Wu with surprise. "You're back."
"Er Ming, long time no see," Xiao Wu greeted him with a soft smile.
"Who is he?" Er Ming's tone turned sharp as his gaze shifted to Ye Feng, a clear edge of hostility in his eyes.
"He's my brother… and my future husband," Xiao Wu answered without hesitation.
"Husband?" Er Ming's expression darkened, the hostility in his eyes intensifying.
Splash—
Ripples spread across the calm lake. A massive figure rose slowly from beneath the water's surface.
It was a spirit beast with the head of a bull and the body of a snake.
Its bull-like head alone was at least four meters in diameter. Two large lantern-like eyes sparkled with intelligence and power. Its serpentine body, colored in deep shades of black and blue, was several times thicker than a water tank.
"Xiao Wu, are you getting married?" the bull-headed serpent spirit beast asked in disbelief.
"Mm." Xiao Wu nodded, but there was a hint of reproach in her gaze as she looked at Ye Feng.
Ye Feng had taken advantage of her more than once, yet he hadn't formally proposed. This thought left Xiao Wu rather displeased.
She stepped forward and introduced the two spirit beasts. "Da Ming, Er Ming, this is my brother and my future husband. His name is Ye Feng. Brother, these two are the rulers of the forest—the Titan Giant Ape, Er Ming, and the Sky Blue Bull Python, Da Ming."
"Da Ming, Er Ming, nice to meet you," Ye Feng said politely.
"Hello, human," Da Ming replied coldly.
Er Ming gave a small nod. "Human."
The way they addressed Ye Feng with a mere "human" was enough to reveal their deep-rooted distrust. Despite being Xiao Wu's fiancé, he was still seen as an outsider.
Ye Feng didn't take offense. He simply voiced his purpose. "Aside from visiting you two, we've come for something very important. I want to meet your master."
"What?" Da Ming's tone instantly turned cold.
"What did you say?" Er Ming added, glaring.
The air grew heavy. A suffocating pressure burst forth from Da Ming and Er Ming. It was like facing a mountain crashing down or a tidal wave sweeping in—both forces directed solely at Ye Feng.
But Ye Feng stood firm, unmoved. He didn't release any power in return. He didn't even flinch.
Xiao Wu quickly stepped in, sensing the rising tension. "Da Ming, Er Ming, my brother means no harm to the master!"
"Xiao Wu," Da Ming snapped, "have you forgotten who you are now that you live among humans?"
Er Ming followed suit, unusually stern with her. "I won't cover for you this time. You've gone too far. How could you reveal the existence of the master to a human? Do you have any idea how important the master is to us spirit beasts?"
"Please," Xiao Wu pleaded, "my brother just wants to talk. He has questions only the master can answer."
"No," Da Ming said flatly.
"Xiao Wu," Er Ming added, "you're lucky it's just us on duty today. If Di Tian and the others were here, they might've attacked you on sight. Go back before it's too late."
Xiao Wu bit her lip. Her heart ached at the situation. Would she really have to fight her old friends over this?
Before she could speak, Ye Feng stepped forward, placing himself protectively in front of Xiao Wu.
"No one can stop me from doing what I must," he said calmly. "Silver Dragon King, come out and face me."
The surface of the Lake of Life remained still.
"No?"
Ye Feng raised his hand. A divine aura burst from him, and ten glowing halos appeared behind his back. The pressure from Da Ming and Er Ming shattered instantly under the weight of this divine force.
The divine energy from Ye Feng not only disrupted the oppressive auras but also caused Da Ming and Er Ming to stagger, their legs trembling beneath them.
Rumble—
Suddenly, the entire forest shook violently.
The lakebed cracked open with a thunderous sound, forming a massive fissure. At first, it was only ten meters wide, but it quickly spread and deepened as the earth collapsed further.
From within the growing crevice, a radiant silver light surged upward—thick, dazzling, and otherworldly.
Then came a sound—deep and distant at first, but growing clearer.
A dragon's roar.
Boom—
A massive silver claw pierced through the crack's edge, gripping the cliffside. The impact left behind a colossal claw-shaped depression stretching across hundreds of square meters.
The claw was beautiful yet terrifying. Silver, with five thick fingers, each knuckle adorned with a round silver gem-like protrusion. Elegant spiral patterns covered its surface, making it appear almost ornamental.
Boom—
Another claw emerged, identical to the first.
With both claws gripping the earth, the creature hauled itself up. As the ground trembled, the cliffside sank beneath its weight, revealing the full majesty of the spirit beast.
It was a dragon—an enormous one, nearly a thousand feet long.
Its body was covered in shimmering diamond-shaped scales. Each scale had raised ridges forming a cross-like pattern at the center, giving off a chilling sense of sharpness and strength. Just one of its scales was larger than a man.
Wings unfurled behind its back, and its massive head bore silver spikes that trailed down its spine to the very end of its long, spiked tail—like a gigantic mace.
Its eyes, a brilliant shade of violet, gleamed with both wisdom and compassion.
This was the supreme ruler of all spirit beasts—the Silver Dragon King.
