Chapter 401 - Chapter 401: Press Conference and Bob Lee Swagger

After leaving his mother's box, the match had already ended more than 20 minutes ago. William saw the guests from the Tianchao Construction Group chatting not far away.

William walked up and greeted them with a smile, "Let's go, gentlemen. Today, you are also the stars of the show."

"No, no, Mr. Devonshire, this is Stamford Bridge. You are the star here; we are just the supporting cast," one of them replied.

William laughed heartily, "Haha, let's hope this flower of mine is a crystal flower that will never wither."

Seeing William's humorous response and how familiar he was with Tianchao proverbs, the group couldn't help but laugh along, their impression of William growing even fonder.

After chatting pleasantly for about 20 minutes, Anthony received a report from one of his subordinates and approached William, whispering, "Boss, the post-match press conferences for both teams have just ended. We can head over now."

"Alright," William nodded and then addressed the Tianchao guests. "Let's head over, gentlemen. It's time for us to take the stage."

Leading the group from the construction company to the prepared press conference hall, William was greeted by applause from the assembled reporters as soon as he entered. These journalists had been dying to interview him for quite some time, and now that they had the chance, they were naturally excited.

Moreover, if the rumors circulating outside were true, tomorrow's newspapers would be filled with major headlines, a reporter's dream.

As the hall buzzed with noise, the arrival of Duke Westeros caused an uproar. The moment the journalists saw him, they knew the rumors were true.

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, William and Grosvenor shook hands and sat down at the podium. The lawyers from both sides brought out the prepared documents and placed them in front of William and Grosvenor. Amidst the flashing of cameras, the two signed their names.

Once the signatures were complete, the two stood up, exchanged contracts, shook hands, and posed for photos with smiles on their faces. After a few minutes of this, they sat back down, and William tapped the microphone before speaking.

"I would like to thank Duke Westeros, and I am honored to announce that the Devonshire Group has reached a land exchange agreement with Grosvenor Group.

I will be investing £300 million, and within two years, we will build a new modern stadium next to the old one that will accommodate 60,000 people. Additionally, we will construct a 200-acre state-of-the-art training facility in Surrey, about 50 minutes from Stamford Bridge. Once the new stadium is completed, the old stadium will be demolished, and a residential community will be built at an estimated cost of £200 million, as compensation to the Grosvenor Group."

As soon as William finished speaking, all the reporters raised their hands, shouting, "Mr. Devonshire! Mr. Devonshire!"

Ignoring their questions, William tapped the microphone again and continued, "Lastly, all of these projects will be handed over to a certain Tianchao construction company. The total project timeline is two years. Oh, and I almost forgot, a £200 million Devonshire Family private museum will also be built. The total value of all projects will be £700 million. Thank you."

With that, William stood up and signed the contract with the construction company, which had already been prepared.

During the Q&A session, William only addressed why he had chosen a Tianchao construction company for these projects. When he revealed that the budget proposed by London and other international construction companies was 40% higher, and that their estimated timeline was twice as long—around four years—those who had been critical quickly quieted down.

After spending about ten minutes answering various questions about the project, William, along with Duke Westeros and the Tianchao guests, shook hands and said their goodbyes. With Anthony and his security team escorting him, William left the press hall, as he had another person to meet.

Arriving at a small private meeting room, William instructed Anthony and his team to wait outside. He knocked and entered the room, where the elder Swagger paced anxiously, while the main subject of this meeting, Bob Lee Swagger, sat quietly in a chair, looking helplessly at his father.

"Hey, old Swagger and Bob," William greeted them warmly, walking up to Bob Lee Swagger. "How many years has it been, Bob?"

Seeing William enter, Bob Lee Swagger stood up quickly, clasped his hands in front of his waist, and nervously looked at William. He still couldn't believe that the little guy he used to help as a child had become such an important figure in less than a year. "About seven years, I think. I haven't been back to London since I moved to the USA."

Old Swagger, concerned about his son, didn't think William would seek out his childhood friend without a reason, so he quickly asked, "William, what do you want with Bob?"

"Mr. Swagger, could you give Bob and me a few minutes alone?" William smiled, reassuring the anxious elder Swagger. "Don't worry, it's nothing difficult for Bob, and I promise I won't force him to agree."

Seeing William's serious expression and hearing his assurance, old Swagger looked at his son, who nodded. With some reluctance, old Swagger left the meeting room.

"I'll get straight to the point to save you from guessing," William said, sitting down next to Bob. "Have a seat, Bob. As I said earlier, if you don't want to do it, I won't force you."

Bob nodded and sat down, waiting for William to explain.

William took out a pair of glasses and motioned for Bob to put them on. Once he put on the futuristic-looking glasses, Bob immediately saw images and heard a voice.

"Mr. Swagger, the person you see is named Kasova, the head of a Sicilian mafia family. He's done every bad thing you can imagine. Maybe because he knows how much evil he's committed, he always has ten bodyguards with him around the clock. This makes it very difficult for us to get close to him. If you're willing, we hope you can help us take him out from a distance."

As soon as the voice finished, the images in the glasses disappeared. William took the glasses back from Bob and said, "This mission is from the British Special Forces. They approached you recently, but you declined. Since they knew we had some connection, they asked me to persuade you. It's your decision whether to take the job. I can assure you that this Kasova is truly a vile person."

Bob Lee Swagger thought for a moment and said, "If Kasova is really as bad as you say, I'll help you take him out. I'll do it as my duty to my country."

"Excellent. If you need anything, just call this number," William provided 007 Craig's number and repeated it to make sure Bob had it memorized. "Once the mission is completed, the British Special Forces will pay you £100,000. If you ever need anything, you can also reach out to them or to me."

Bob Lee Swagger didn't say anything, just nodded.

"Alright, my task is done. See you, Bob," William shook hands with Bob and, just before leaving, added a friendly reminder, "Next time someone approaches you for a mission, remember what happened to you five years ago. Don't be so naive."

"Goodbye, Bob." Without giving Bob a chance to ask more questions, William opened the door and left the meeting room.
