Bloomley's face twitched in frustration, and he sighed, "Alright, bring him to the reception room. I'll be there shortly."
After hanging up, Bloomley, looking somewhat helpless, turned to William and Catherine and said, "Sorry, I need to step away for a moment. There's this Asian man who lost his daughter in the bombing. He's been coming here every day, and if I don't see him soon, it's going to look bad—he's a victim, after all."
Catherine nodded in understanding. When a victim's family comes seeking answers, it's best to meet with them to offer some comfort, lest they spread bad rumors. "Yes, go see him. Try to calm him down and avoid giving the media any fodder for gossip."
"Got it," Bloomley nodded.
William, who had heard the mention of an Asian man who lost his daughter in the bombing, immediately thought of someone. He muttered to himself, "Damn, could it be Uncle Long playing Guan Yuming?"
As Bloomley opened the door to leave, William said, "Wait, I need to use the restroom."
With that, William hurried out of the office. After walking several steps and noticing that Bloomley wasn't following, he turned around and said, "Come on, haven't you heard people have three urgent needs?"
Bloomley chuckled and caught up to William. "You're walking too fast. I didn't even get a chance to tell you that my office has a restroom."
'Of course, I know,' William thought. He wasn't really in a rush to use the restroom; he just wanted to see if the person was Guan Yuming. "It wouldn't be polite to use it while Catherine's still in there."
Bloomley thought for a moment and agreed. "That's true." He pointed out the restroom's location to William before heading to the reception room.
After using the restroom, William could see from a distance that Bloomley was talking to a gray-haired Asian man in his fifties or sixties.
Without needing to see the man's face, William knew it was Guan Yuming. He had grown up watching Uncle Long's movies—his appearance was unmistakable.
At the same time, William felt a bit helpless. He had warned Guan Yuming not to stay in London, but the unfortunate event had still happened.
Standing in the hallway for two minutes, William watched as Guan Yuming, visibly exhausted, left the reception room. When Guan Yuming looked up, he saw William leaning on the railing, staring at him from about ten meters away.
A wave of exhaustion, pain, and sorrow washed over Guan Yuming. He could no longer hold back his tears, but he knew now wasn't the time to speak. His already slightly hunched back bent even lower as he walked past William, discreetly taking the phone William handed to him behind his back.
About ten seconds later, Bloomley approached William, looking at Guan Yuming's sad and tired figure with a sigh. "Sigh, Guan is truly a pitiful man. William, I know you're a genius. Would you be willing to help me look over the evidence and videos? The sooner we catch the culprit, the sooner we can give justice to Guan and the other victims' families."
William smirked, clearly uninterested, but Bloomley's eyes lit up as he added, "Finding the culprit sooner could also ease Catherine's burden. And don't forget, no one was spared in the bombing. Who's to say the next attack won't affect someone you care about?"
"Hmm?" William turned to Bloomley, pretending to consider his words before nodding. "Alright, you're right. Lead the way, buddy."
Although William already knew who the mastermind was, he couldn't reveal that knowledge without a plausible explanation. He needed to review all the evidence first, then claim to have figured it out through investigation.
Arriving at the command center, Bloomley instructed one of his subordinates, "Bring up all the clues we have so far."
"Yes, sir." The subordinate, surprised to see the famous William in the room, gave a brief nod before pulling up the video footage and explaining the known clues as William watched.
After reviewing the information and video, William smiled and thanked the subordinate. He then pulled Bloomley aside as they left the command center. Bloomley, clearly hoping for some insight, listened intently. "I have a lead. Send me the suspect's video, and I'll post a bounty in the underworld. Let's see if we can get any useful information. You know, sometimes money can solve problems that you can't."
"No problem," Bloomley agreed without hesitation. He understood that with enough money, the underworld could find people faster than they could. And when it came to terrorists, Bloomley wasn't above using such methods. "Someone will send the video to you shortly. Oh, and I didn't hear any of what you just said."
"Haha," William laughed, patting Bloomley on the shoulder. "Buddy, since you're being so cooperative, I won't forget to share the credit when we crack the case."
Bloomley rolled his eyes. "You're one to talk about credit. I almost lost my position because of that last incident. You owe me."
"Hey," William thought, 'I owe you nothing.' But he didn't press the issue. Considering his relationship with Catherine, Bloomley was now more or less on William's side. There was no need to stir up trouble. "Alright, alright. I owe you. I'll take the rewards, and you can take the credit. No problem?"
"No problem," Bloomley agreed happily. With William, a billionaire, secretly investigating, Bloomley was confident that they'd find leads soon.
The two returned to Bloomley's office and discussed the details of the chip incident with Catherine. Afterward, William excused himself.
Once William left, Catherine asked, "Did he agree?"
"Yes," Bloomley nodded with satisfaction. "You and Gary really know him well. As soon as I mentioned your career and the safety of the people he cares about, he immediately agreed. With his money and connections, a bounty in the underworld should help us find the culprit quickly."
Catherine shook her head, and seeing Bloomley's puzzled expression, she explained, "It's not surprising that he cares about my career, but the only reason he'd put in real effort to find the culprit is because of his mother.
If Lena Devonshire weren't currently staying in London, and he wasn't benefiting from us, that stingy William Devonshire wouldn't lift a finger."
"Then we should be thanking Mrs. Lena," Bloomley chuckled. "But who cares? As long as he helps."
"True. The more people investigating, the faster we'll find the real culprit," Catherine said, placing one of the detectors William had given her on the table. "This is actually more important. Keep this with you. If you detect anything, don't act immediately. We don't want to alert them or risk retaliation. Once we've identified the mastermind, we'll move in all at once. Be careful."
Bloomley nodded. "Understood. You be careful too."
Taking Bloomley's private elevator to avoid others, William descended to the parking lot. As he drove away from the command center, he spotted Guan Yuming standing by the roadside.
"Beep beep." William stopped the car beside him, and Guan quickly opened the door and got in.
