Chapter 428 - Chapter 428

One Piece World

Mariejois

Due to the recent wave of SCP incidents, the situation could no longer be suppressed—it had finally caught the attention of the Five Elders.

So on this particular day, Sengoku and Garp were summoned for questioning.

"Well then, Garp, Sengoku, do you know where these bizarre creatures that have been appearing recently are coming from?"

Saint Saturn stared at the two, interrogating them coldly.

"We sent people to investigate that Skull Island. They barely made it back alive. The spatial anomaly there is of immense value. If we can eliminate the monsters inside, it would become a critical resource for humanity. Why haven't we received any reports about this?"

Saint Mars stared down at the table, then glared at Garp and Sengoku.

"Most importantly, that strange pool... you've been calling it the Chinoike Pool, right? Why did it suddenly appear? And where did the monsters inside it come from? One of them even managed to kill Big Mom—one of the Four Emperors! Do you realize how drastically this affects the global balance of power?"

Saint Nasujuro glared intently at the two while fidgeting with the blade in his hand, clearly displeased.

Sengoku and Garp stood there like scolded children, unsure of what expression to show.

"We're still investigating. We haven't figured out what those creatures are or where they're coming from."

Sengoku tried to compose himself and offered a vague explanation.

He wasn't ready to reveal anything about the barrier or the SCPs.

"Is that so? Are you saying you truly know nothing?"

Saint Vochuli gave Sengoku a sharp look, then snapped his fingers.

Several agents emerged, carrying weapons and wheeling in a surgical table.

Upon seeing what was on the table, both Sengoku and Garp's expressions changed for the worse.

Strapped down tightly with multiple chains... was the SCP known as The Ticking Bird.

"This bird-like creature is truly fascinating. It can kill at a distance. Several of our agents died without even knowing how. Even with high-level Observation Haki, its methods are incredibly hard to detect."

Saint Saturn spoke calmly.

"Only those with extremely powerful Observation Haki can perceive its attacks and locate it. If we could tame such a creature, it would be a tremendous asset."

After speaking, Saturn pointed toward a box held by another agent.

The agent immediately opened it—revealing the SCP known as The Hallucination Predator.

"And this ooze-like thing—it can't be killed, and it can mimic anything it touches. It's clearly made for assassination."

Saint Peter looked at it in astonishment.

"These creatures don't exist in historical records. They've only started appearing recently. If you truly don't know anything, then why are the Marines across various regions receiving detailed instructions to hunt and capture them?"

Saint Vochuli shot a glare at Garp and Sengoku.

"Don't think we're clueless. The orders passed to the branches include very specific strategies and even location markers."

Saint Nasujuro's eyes gleamed with suspicion.

"If you really didn't know anything, how could you create such targeted countermeasures?"

His tone turned sharp and aggressive.

Sengoku's face began to tighten.

"And Sengoku, I heard you've eaten two Devil Fruits. How is that possible? Is there something aiding you—perhaps something you're keeping hidden in your coat?"

Saint Mars jabbed a finger toward Sengoku's chest, clearly already aware of the Tiger Talisman.

"Damn it... we really couldn't keep it under wraps for long. They must have agents embedded in the Navy as well."

Sengoku wasn't surprised. Given how unheard-of his feat was—wielding multiple Devil Fruit powers—it was inevitable the news would spread here.

"Sengoku, I need you to give us detailed information. Tell us how you're able to use multiple Devil Fruits. Shouldn't you be helping us study it?"

Saturn's voice grew sharper, his tone implying that refusing would come with serious consequences.

Sengoku's face twitched—he truly didn't want to reveal anything about the SCPs.

But clearly, bluffing his way through wouldn't work this time.

They hadn't reached the point of total confrontation... not yet.

"Pururururu... pururururu..."

Just then, a Den Den Mushi started ringing inside Garp's coat.

The sudden sound caught everyone off guard. All eyes turned toward Garp, confused.

Garp casually pulled it out and answered it in front of everyone.

"Hello, this is Garp. What's up?"

"Vice Admiral Garp! All three Admirals are currently engaged in intense battles with those creatures called Siren Heads! They're struggling!"

The voice on the other end was filled with panic.

"Oh, really? So you need reinforcements? Got it."

Garp replied casually and hung up.

"Sigh, as expected. We're still not strong enough. If Aokiji and the others worked together, they might win—but since those monsters appeared in different locations, the Admirals had to split up, which made it harder. What a pain."

Garp muttered with an annoyed face.

"I should've just gone to help them instead of wasting time here."

His words, brazen and irreverent, instantly turned Sengoku's face pale.

As for the Five Elders—they looked absolutely furious that Garp had ignored protocol, answered a call, and even said coming here was a "waste of time."

"Garp! What do you mean by that? Don't you know bringing a Den Den Mushi in here is strictly forbidden?!"

Saturn snapped furiously.

"That's right, Garp! You also have some explaining to do! We've heard rumors that you've obtained some object that significantly boosts your strength. You should tell us what it is."

Mars glared at him.

"Huh? Say something? Why?"

Garp asked innocently, as if the question made no sense.

Sengoku was so mortified his facial muscles twitched non-stop.

"That's my own thing, right? As long as I'm using it to uphold justice and hunt pirates, it's none of your business what I have."

Garp said with a puzzled look, as if he were the one being reasonable here.

His words sent a chill through the room.

Everyone stared at Garp, waiting for what he'd say next.

"Well, if that's all, I'll be going now."

He turned to leave—like nothing had happened.
