Wen Congrui held a flower lantern in his hand, somewhat absent-minded. He had thought Wufu was in the tavern but found he had stepped into empty space.
He looked up and out, but his gaze suddenly sharpened, he stepped forward and looked at a boat on the river.
On the deck, a man and a woman were looking at each other and laughing, their smiles pure and at ease, utterly sincere, without a trace of falsity or pretense.
Wen Congrui's grip tightened slightly.
The people on the boat seemed to notice his gaze, looked over, and nodded at him.
"Who are you waving to?" Wufu saw Ah Jiu's expression and couldn't help but turn to look. There were so many people coming and going on the street that it was hard to tell who he had seen.
Ah Jiu laughed, "I just happened to see Lord Wen, that's all."
"Really?" Wufu looked around, "I can't see him."
