Ares held back a groan against the pain in his chest as consciousness clawed its way back into him. While the wind still carried the distant noise of the war outside, the air in here was still, heavy with spent magic. The eerie glow that had once flooded the room from the Red Moon was replaced by a strange stillness that pressed in from all sides. The Red Moon had passed, and with it, the terror that was Zareth'Morr.
Ares' vision swam as he pushed himself upright, breath hitching from the strain. The world sharpened, and the first thing he saw was one of the Red Moon coven members—cloaked, with a bloodied hand and an unfamiliar face—bent slightly beside Jodie as he gently lifted a fallen earring to her lobe. The man followed with a bracelet which he clasped around her wrist with reverent fingers.
Confused, he sat up straighter, eyes narrowing as he briefly scanned the room for Valiah Hundra.
