Chapter 22 - A Strange Dream

Tang Yuanxiao wished to melt her inside him, so that he never had to let go of her again. He probed with his tongue deeper to mask her words. No, he didn't want to hear Tang Fanghua's name from her mouth.

As he pulled away, looking at her struggling to breathe, he pinched her chin, forcing her to look at him.

"Call me Yuanxiao."

Jiao Qingxiao seemed to be confused. She parted her lips in a daze.

"Master! Master." Tang Yuanxiao opened his eyes. His eyes darkened as he sensed the servant who woke him up.

Long Ju was petrified immediately. Despite knowing master couldn't see, he couldn't but feel as if his soul was being stared into.

"Master that, fourth prince has sent you a message."

Tang Yuanxiao nodded his head. Like a hot potato Long Ju handed over the scroll to him before running away for his life.

"Why did I have such a dream?"

Tang Yuanxiao's question restarted Xiao Kui who was momentarily taken aback.

"What dream?"

"You didn't cause it?"

"Master, did you dream of anything important?"

"It was about her."

Xiao Kui almost had a startle. Stabilizing itself, very carefully, it tried to sound cheeky as usual.

"Oh, so host was having that kind of dream, hehe."

Tang Yuaxiao glared at the koi fish.

"You caused it or not?"

"Of course not. But master can buy this potion from the store for regular such dreams. Only at the cost of…

"Why did it appear as I have travelled to my past life?" He asked coldly, cutting the koi fish's enthusiastic sales pitch off.

"Master, dreams can be weird. How can Xiao Koi know about this?"

Xiao Koi pretended to be as carefree as possible. He couldn't believe this. No no…the host must not know anything yet.

Tang Yuanxiao glared suspiciously at the fish. If it were a human he would be confident in his abilities to get words out of its mouth. But to fuss with a fish was too ridiculous.

"What all missions do I have left till now? And what's my current account balance?"

"Master, it's great that you have finally asked. Since you borrowed the extra tools from the store when paying that lady a visit, you have had ah 3 here, 2 there, and here… yes, so total 5 major missions and 5 sub missions. Does master want to see all the details at once? Or see each mission one by one?"

Tang Yuanxioa considered for a second. "Show all the missions first."

"Sure host" Xiao Kui professionally opened a neat page.

All the information on it was arranged beautifully in a table.

After glancing over it briefly he had a rough understanding of everything. The most important one was to find the token of the fourth prince and hand it over to the system. The rest were to find the emperor's secret scroll, to find the ancestral tomb of Concubine Li, To retrieve the war map from the neighbouring kingdom and to …

As he looked at the last mission, he frowned. He has never really wanted authority. Or power. But, it was also the mission that had to be completed. Without completing this mission he won't be able to break free of the system and accompany her for the rest of her life.

Xiao Kui sensed his hesitation. "If host wants to skip the last mission, he is free to do so. Just accept missions in a different world for the next few decades and..

"No. I will accept the mission."

After cutting off Xiao Kui, he now glanced at the sub missions. They were all fairly easy to understand and interconnected to the main missions. He finally asked Xiao Kui to close the page.

As Xiao Kui went to charge itself, he also focused on the scroll he had received from the fourth prince. He could already guess the content of the letter.

He traced each character swiftly with ease.

As expected, he had asked him for strategies to evade a flying arrow so that it wouldn't hit any fatal spot.

He couldn't help but laugh at his fourth brother's cowardice. Concubine Li indeed was dealt with a bad hand, with a son like him.

In his last life, if not for her entering the palace as his concubine he would have never supported Tang Fanghua. He wanted her to have the sky under her feet, even if he wasn't the one standing beside her.

That was the case in the past, and that will be the case in the future as well.

Inside a dark corner of the newly opened pawn shop,

Tang Lei kept his eyes on the young lady coming out of the shop. After an entire day of following her around, he was proud to say that he now knew all the pawn houses in the entire province despite never having had pawned anything off in his entire life.

What an achievement for the top guard under the third prince!

"Young master, here's the pearl you have asked for."

The shopkeeper carefully handed over the glowing pearl to Tang Lei. How lucky he was to have encountered this rich man. Getting five taels for a silver pearl was way too high. Although the pearl was expensive, even the biggest pawn shop would only offer 1 tael at most.

Tang Lei held the pearl near his eyes to check it once before putting it away inside his sleeves.

"Good. If that young lady or anyone else comes here for this pearl, inform me at the earliest."

"As you say young master."

The shopkeeper had an integrating grin on his face as he looked at Tang Lei walk away.
