Chapter 1 - The Dream and the Journey: Aryaman's Path to Gurukul

A teen lurking all alone in Darkness. Wandering through the endless abyss searching for a Shred of Light. All of a sudden, he sees a person standing in distant. Rays of Light gazing from his back. The teen with curious eyes trying to figure out who the majestic shadow belonged to.

(He was curios who that person was) He runs towards him to see his face, but all he sees a pitch-dark shadow standing in the path of light rays, blocking them from reaching the teen.

He asks him- "Who are You? What are you doing here? And where are we?

What are we doing here?

Where are we?

Does that all matter? All that matters is....

I …. am your Death.

Saying this the man pounces on the boy in order to cut his throat with his sword. The boy saves himself from the sword by inches.

"Why are you attacking me? That could have killed me."

The man bursts out in laughter. "Your time hasn't come yet little one. We will meet again soon."

"Next time I will kill you once and for all. Prepare while You can. You will get all your answers from the Gurukul."

Then an alarming noise comes from the sky- "Aryaman! Aryamann! Aryamannn!".

Aryaman wakes up from his sleep. All thanks to his mother, his nightmare came to an end.

"It's been hours since the dawn came and you are still asleep. Get ready as its time for you to go to GURUKUL."

Aryaman went to take a dip in the river but all he had in mind was about the nightmare he just experienced. He wondered if he will all his answers in Gurukul or not.

[Aryaman (meaning noble-minded) was a 17-year-old boy who was going to attend GURUKUL (Gurukul was a schooling system of ancient India) from now, was excited to learn all sorts of fighting techniques. Being born into a "Kshatriya" family it was always his dream to become the greatest warrior of "Aryavart" (Ancient name of India). Aryaman's father's name was Arun (meaning Dawn or sunrise) and his mother's name was Nalini (meaning pure).]

He was all set to leave for Gurukul. Before leaving he touched his parent's feet to take their blessings. His father went back into his room and brought back a sword with him. It was Aryaman's family sword used by his ancestors.

Aryaman kneels before his father to accept the sword. His father unsheathes the sword and proudly gives the sword to his son while saying these words-

"From this day till your last day, you must take care of this sword and the sword will protect from heaven's harm. I, Arun blessed by the godly grace of the decent of Parshuram (Indian deity) and I the Chief of Swordsmen, hereby name you VAJRADHAR (the owner of "VAJRA) (name of the sword)""

Saying these lines Arun gives Vajra to Aryaman and he touches the sword to his head to show his respect and accept the sword with honour.

Vajra was made out of one of the finest steels of that time known as "Sarvadhari".

His father was very happy and proud as well as his son was now the new wielder of their ancestorial sword.

Aryaman takes his leave from his parents and leaves on his way to Gurukul.

It will take him approximately 3 days to reach the Gurukul and according to Guru Vasistha (one of the gurus in the Gurukul and a close friend of Arun) Aryaman has 5 days in hand before The Gurukul Starts.

This Gurukul was the greatest Gurukul in "Aryavart" and it was near the king's palace. All the sons of the superior people go there to learn the art of fighting and learning to become a noble man like their respective elders.

After sometime of walking he came by a village. He saw some people gather around in the streets and quarrelling and shouting for some reason.

Aryaman asked a commoner passing through that place about what happened. He said that some mother and daughter were being abused because her husband murdered a certain villager and ran away. The villagers wanted the woman and her daughter to atone for her husband's mistake.

A man was about to drag(grab) the woman's hair when all of a sudden, a teen boy comes and stops the man.

No one recognises him as he was wearing a cape and a mask. He asks all the villagers to back out. The man became angry and was about to hit him.

The boy swiftly points a sword at the man threatening to carve his eyes out for raising hand at a royal person.

The boy takes the mask out and it was none other than the eldest princess of The King. Princess Lakshmika, (name meaning prosperity, beauty and fortune) was one of the only 2 daughters of The King.

She is well known for her skill and interest in swordsmanship.

As soon as everyone recognises her, they bow down in honour and respect. (LMAO no respect only fear for the king)

She warns every villager- "Whoever touches the woman and her daughter shall hear from my father. And as for the murderer I will kil him myself and give you all justice."

I have known the princess since my childhood as my father is a chief of swordsmen (one of the five chiefs of war who serves directly under the King).

She has always inspired me to become a better person, I can't call her my rival though as I don't consider her of my level. My real rival is her twin brother, Varun.

After the princess gets done with the villagers, I go near her to give my greetings.

"How are you Princess and are you here alone or have you come with Varun?"

She doesn't like me calling her princess when we don't have any company but I often address her like that to annoy her.

"How many times do I need to tell you, that you can call me Lashmika when we are alone."

"Hahahaha… ok as you say my Princess"

"Again?? Seriously?? Anyway, I suppose you are on your way to Gurukul."

"Yeah…. Don't tell me..."

"Yes, I and Varun have also decided to leave for Gurukul today. How dare you leave without us."

"Sorry for that, but if that's the case then where the hell is Varun."

Breeze of wind passes by; Varun comes from behind and touches Aryaman back.

"Hahahaha…now I lead the score by 31:30 in the game of tag".

"Dammit, you caught me off-guard, Varun."

"Your fault, you must always stay on guard. Didn't chief Arun teach you these things."

Lakshmika- "Enough of this nonsense already. Playing a game of tag at this age. Ridiculous... We better hurry as there is still a long way ahead of us before we reach Gurukul."

Thus starts the Great Journey to the Gurukul.

Who knows what lies ahead in their journey….
