Synopsis
Alexander Gray, a fifteen-year-old teenager on the verge of his awakening and subsequent entry into the Hunters Academy, is one day taken away in a cosmic mana wave that passes through Earth’s solar system during a school trip from Earth to Mars. This was a magical wave that killed a person once exposed to it. Luckily, the displacement wave placed him close to their destination where he was found, alive and well to the disbelieve of everybody. Unbeknownst to him at the time, the cosmic mana wave had awakened a gift within him that would propel him to the ranks of hero hunter and beyond, granting him the strength to lead humanity in their efforts to determine the cause of their universe's change and its implications. ............. "For some reason, I can't level up." Alex began to feel frustrated as he was stuck at Class F, the lowest rank a hunter could have after awakening, despite his momentum when he first awakened. Even with his awakened talents and the benefits he received from the 'accident' that should have killed him, he now finds himself stuck and unable to level up as mana does not work on him like everyone else. Follow Alexander Gray as he discovers his abilities and learns about himself in a chaotic universe and beyond. ...................... Join the discord: https://discord.gg/vXC8vWJxHN

Chapter 1 - Prologue

Humans of Earth had come a long way. Throughout its long history, the world has experienced several conflicts, each with its own reasons.

As these conflicts progressed, humanity reached a point where it was on the verge of destroying itself with the weapons it had created.

Learning from the errors of their predecessors, what remained of humanity banded together to create a new world where there were no borders or nations, just a group of people who wanted to live without the threat of war, racial discrimination, or disease.

In the millennia that followed, humans reached the peak of technological advancement in all fields of science — from engineering, computing, biology, and chemistry. The issues of food and disease were eliminated.

And at their height of growth and enlightenment, the interstellar era began. Humans had achieved hyperspace travelling technology, making space exploration and colonisation possible.

Quickly colonising their immediate solar system and expanding from there, humans began exploring the rest of the galaxy, including all the nearby ones.

Advancements in cosmology had confirmed the presence of other lifeforms in the Milky Way galaxy and those in its vicinity.

The lifeforms found turned out to be other humans, just like them -- two variants that were also humans.

Though initially hindered by the barrier of communication and conflicting interests, humans were able to establish some decorum of an alliance, a fragile one, but still one, nonetheless.

The two new species of humans they came across were the One-Horned humans and the Dark-Sclera humans.

The One-horned humans had similar physical features to themselves, except for the five-inch pointed horn on their foreheads.

While not much of a difference, this horn feature could absorb solar radiation, which these humans used to strengthen themselves. In all aspects of physicals―strength, speed, stamina, reaction time― these One-Horned humans were superior.

And to top that off, they had an average height of 2 metres when they hit adulthood. They were warriors and had a similar level of advancement in all aspects in which normal humans excelled.

The Dark-Sclera humans were, in all aspects, just like Earth humans, but they had eyes with sclera that was a shiny, dark colour. This feature of theirs granted them the ability to see the entire electromagnetic spectrum.

Along with this feature came a level of intelligence that was difficult to beat. Technologically, they were more advanced than Earth humans.

Enhanced vision, scientific discoveries, gaining insights into the intricate mechanisms of life processes, security protocols and surveillance, navigation and transportation, communication and data transfer were their major breakthroughs.

However, this particular breed of humans preferred to keep to themselves and only expanded within the bounds of their solar system.

After a few years of interaction between these human species, they were able to overcome the language barriers by creating a universal language that everyone could adopt.

But like all good things that came by, bad things followed.

As history tended to repeat itself, the greed and ambitions of some beings led them to try to do the impossible―take over all the other races by force. This brought about an era of galactic warfare.

The destruction brought about by the fighting claimed lives in the trillions, and planets were pushed out of their orbits, disrupting the harmony of solar systems.

In the following hundreds of years, the conflicts were brought to a halt when disasters befell their universe, leaving them with no choice but to quell the fighting if they were to survive.

A phenomenon that was later known as a cosmic mana wave swept over the universe, displacing a multitude of galaxies.

Violent collision events, the destruction of stars, the formation of black holes, and the loss of trillions of lifeforms across the galaxies the humans had colonised, as well as the appearance of new lifeforms —lifeforms devoid of any signs of life.

Humans had no idea where they came from.

Creatures of unknown origin―Void Creatures, came in all shapes, sizes and strength levels, destroyed and devoured all things they came across.

The cosmic mana waves revealed tears in the spacetime barrier from which these void creatures came out.

These veil tears also culminated into unique spaces filled with the essence of these void creatures and energy of unheard-of levels.

No one who had ventured into these spaces lived long enough to tell the tale. It supported no forms of life. This raised the question of where precisely the void creatures came from.

Humanity, seeing how pushed back they were, decided to band together to create a utopia where the remaining galaxies, somehow still intact, would form a galactic empire.

With their combined strength, humans fought back but with little success.

When humanity reached the height of their despair, the same phenomenon that brought new and strange energy into their universe also imparted magical abilities to some of the surviving humans, awakening a new breed of humans.

With their newfound strength and magical abilities―abilities that were once only works of fiction- humans were finally able to fight the void creatures.

The influx of this new form of energy gave rise to new and unique resources, such as precious metals and plants with special properties, as well as new universal regions rich in these resources, waiting to be discovered.

With these abilities came the curiosity to know more. As humans began fighting back, they learnt of the biology of their new abilities and that of the void creatures.

The conclusion? Void creatures were not much of a lifeform but more of a form of energy that had taken shape.

How they functioned and thrived was a mystery. However, when these creatures died, they left behind a body that was a treasure trove of resources.

The bodies of the void creatures could be used to create weapons, ships, combat suits, and a whole lot of other applications.

The fluid they had within them, which humans assumed to be blood, came with all kinds of attributes of the elements―fire, water, wind, metal, earth, lightning, healing and all sorts of attributes.

Attributes that, when implemented into their technology and weapons, produced a greater effect overall. Along with this was their core―a solid amalgamation of their energy.

A small core from a low-level void creature was enough to power a massive spaceship, as well as the ability to perform hyperjumps capable of covering millions of light years in one go.

After years of fighting, growth and development, humanity managed to create a decent level of order in the chaos that was their universe.
