Chapter 45 - Chapter 045: Fugaku, Do You Really Know Itachi?

Three days have passed since the battle between Mirai and Obito, but the discussion about that battle in Konoha had never stopped.

The whole village was filled with excitement.

It was just because that battle was so shocking.

Looking up from one-third of the way to Konoha, one could see that purple thunder sea in the southeast.

The raging violent current was like a punishment sent by the gods.

After this battle, the originally dense forest had disappeared, leaving only a giant basin several meters deep.

Regarding the two fighting parties, the villagers have roughly figured out through the discussion in the past few days.

The person who unleashed that terrifying attack was none other than Naruto's uncle, the Blue Flash, Namikaze Mirai.

This strong person who had been dormant for three years once again showed his ferocious side to the world.

The other person was the culprit behind the Nine-Tails Riot Night.

After knowing the inside story of this battle, most of the villagers were trembling with excitement.

The pain caused by the Nine-Tails Riot had not completely subsided. Not only had the ninjas died that night, but also a large number of villagers who were sleeping in their houses unaware of the tragedy that befell them and their loved ones.

After this battle, Mirai's reputation in the village skyrocketed.

Some villagers even compared him to the First Hokage.

Correspondingly, Danzo's reputation dropped to rock bottom, he became so notorious that calling him a street rat was an understatement.

Just before the battle broke out, there were rumors in the village that the culprit behind the scenes was Danzo's experimental subject.

This extremely coincidental battle pushed Danzo's notoriety to its climax.

He became the object of hatred for everyone.

Danzo felt extremely aggrieved by this.

It was really frustrating for him.

It was clear that he had done nothing, but the unwarranted blame he bore was getting brighter and clearer.

'Should I take the blame for everything in the world?!'

When outside discussions were getting more intense.

In the Uchiha clan.

The Clan Leader's Residence.

The protagonist of the incident, Mirai, was sitting cross-legged with Fugaku on opposite ends of the low table, sipping tea leisurely.

The aroma of tea leaves spreads in the room, adding an elegant atmosphere.

"Mirai, regarding Itachi's apprenticeship..."

Fugaku put down the tea cup in his hand, and the words came to his mouth, but he didn't know how to speak.

In the battle a few days ago, Mirai had already shown his strength.

Fugaku knew that even if Minato was resurrected, he won't be able to compare to his younger brother.

In terms of strength, he being Itachi's teacher was more than good.

Only...

There was a trace of confusion in his eyes.

"Sarutobi Hiruzen found you, right?"

Mirai picked up the tea, took a sip, and said casually.

"Yes, I really can't hide these things from you."

Seeing that Mirai had taken the initiative to speak out, Fugaku seemed relieved and nodded.

Just two days ago, Hiruzen also found him and talked to him in detail about Itachi's entry into Anbu.

Once Itachi joins the Anbu, he would become a direct subordinate under Hiruzen, and naturally it was impossible for him to become Mirai's disciple.

Fugaku was deeply entangled.

On the one hand, Itachi's apprenticeship with Mirai would naturally be of great benefit. With Mirai's strength, it was more than enough to guide Itachi.

But letting Itachi join Anbu also seemed to be a good choice.

First, it could ease the increasingly tense relationship between Uchiha and the village.

Secondly, Itachi could also serve as his spy who inserts himself beside Hiruzen and delivers information from the top of the village to the clan.

Two choices, almost two completely different directions.

Fugaku had trouble making up his mind.

Fugaku's hesitant look was clearly visible to Mirai.

He put down the tea in his hand.

"Fugaku, you probably want Itachi to act as Uchiha's spy next to the higher-ups, right?"

There was a hint of dryness at the corner of Fugaku's mouth.

"Sure enough, you are very sensitive in these matters."

He was almost transparent in front of Mirai.

"Fugaku, have you ever thought about whether Itachi will really act according to your thoughts?"

Mirai said calmly.

"Huh? Why do you say that?"

Fugaku was confused. He was Itachi's father and Itachi should act according to his thoughts.

Isn't this normal?

Seeing Fugaku's expression, Mirai knew that he did not realize the seriousness of the problem at all.

So, Mirai changed his angle of speech.

"What I am trying to say, do you really know your son?"

Fugaku was even more confused. Itachi was his son and he had watched it grow up.

Of course he understands.

"Mirai, I really don't understand what you mean."

"I'll just say it bluntly!"

"Itachi has his own mind and his own thoughts. If you can put him in a high-level position to act as a spy, the high-level officials can also let him act as a spy to pry into Uchiha. What do you think he will choose in the end?"

Fugaku's expression became serious.

"Itachi is my eldest son. Even if he really faced that choice, he would probably choose the Uchiha clan."

Being a double agent, this was a situation Fugaku had already considered.

Choosing between clan and village.

Having grown up in Uchiha, he would undoubtedly choose his clan.

"I don't think so."

Mirai shook his head.

"Why?"

"I saw deep confusion in Itachi's eyes, like a ship sailing in the dark sea. You letting him act as a double agent will undoubtedly greatly aggravate his inner confusion."

"In this desperate situation, once Itachi finds some direction, even if it is a ridiculously wrong direction, he will treat it as his last hope and go on regardless of the consequences."

"Fugaku, you don't want Itachi to cause some irreparable consequences, right?"

Mirai looked at him deeply.

A chill ran down Fugaku's spine.

He wanted to reply on behalf of his son, but suddenly felt that he knew too little about Itachi.

Was the eldest son, who had always been sensible and obedient, in confusion and pain?

He, as his father, actually didn't notice at all.

Outside the door, Itachi, who was holding freshly brewed hot tea and planning to change the tea kettle for the two of them, was standing quietly, and silently listening to the conversation between the two.

"Itachi is a precocious and sensitive child, and his depth of thinking is far beyond that of his peers."

"What is a clan? What is a village? What measures their worth? I think Itachi should be thinking about these things all the time."

"Because of this, he needs someone to guide him, like a candle lit in the dark night, to find the right path for him."

"This is something Hiruzen cannot do correctly. He is a politician and conspirator. His position is only based on his own interests."

"But I think, I should be able to do it."

Mirai looked at Fugaku opposite him solemnly.

*Slide*

The wooden sliding door was opened.

Fugaku turned his head and looked in shock.

It was Itachi who was holding the tea tray, his dark eyes already a little red and moist.

*Crack*

He dropped the tea tray to the ground, and the steaming tea spilled from the broken tea kettle all over the floor.

Itachi suddenly knelt down and pressed his face deeply to the floor.

The voice was trembling but very earnest.

"Mirai-sama, please accept me as your disciple!"

A glint appeared in Mirai's blue eyes, and he looked at this scene with a smile.

With the ability to sense the bio-magnetic fields, he had already noticed Itachi's approach.

Those words just now were meant for Itachi.

'But, isn't it far smoother than expected?'
