Chapter 2 - Sports Festival (2)

The audience cheered as Tokoyami and Shoji entered the arena.

Present Mic: "3… 2… 1… FIGHT!"

Tokoyami and Shoji immediately rushed toward each other. Tokoyami used Dark Shadow to try to attack Shoji, but Shoji narrowly dodged Dark Shadow's attack.

Shoji then used his quirk to grow extra appendages to try and grab Tokoyami. Tokoyami used Dark Shadow to try and break free from Shoji's extra appendages. Shoji kept trying to grab Tokoyami while Dark Shadow was trying to break free. Tokoyami was struggling to keep up with Shoji.

Shoji: "It's over Tokoyami… give up already"

Tokoyami refused to give up, and Shoji continued to press Tokoyami.

Shoji: "It's no use, give up already"

Tokoyami: "NO! I won't give up yet!"

Shoji continues to attack while Tokoyami struggles to defend himself. Tokoyami keeps blocking Shoji's attacks.

Shoji: "Why won't you give up?! Just give in already!"

Tokoyami stays silent as he continues to block Shoji.

Shoji: "Why do you persist? You've already lost"

Tokoyami: "I am not weak!"

Shoji: "You're losing this fight, face the facts"

Tokoyami: "Not yet! I can keep going!"

Shoji: "The only thing your doing is tiring yourself out"

Tokoyami tries to keep defending against Shoji

Shoji:"You can keep going for now, but in the end you're going to tire out and lose anyways"

Tokoyami:"Shut it Shoji!"

Shoji: "I'm only stating the obvious"

Shoji continued to press Tokoyami. Tokoyami continues to use Dark Shadow to defend himself.

Shoji:"You're getting tired, just give in already"

Tokoyami:"I won't give in!"

I watched as the two continued this charade. 'Honestly, this fight was completely boring. Just use Dark Shadow on a large scale and keep Shoji moving away from you and potentially catch him off guard and get him out of bounds.'

Shoji:"What's the point at this point? You're clearly already tired and you can't keep up with me"

I stopped paying attention at this point. 'No offense to the both of them, but it was just sad. Maybe this is just my thinking but if you can't win there's no shame in admitting your defeat. Pride means nothing in a battle.'

Tokoyami:"I-I can still keep going!" he says as his voice cracks from the effort of keeping up

Shoji: "You're struggling to even keep your voice at this point. This clearly is too much for you"Tokoyami: "Shut it! I-I can still do this!"

Shoji:"You should conserve your energy for now and stop fighting. You're not going to get anywhere. Just give in"Tokoyami:"Tch! Fine then…"he says out of breath

Present Mic:"I can't believe my eyes! Tokoyami actually surrendered! Shoji advances to the next round!"

'Wow! It's almost like I thought that surrendering was the best option- When did Tokoyami gain mind reading powers?'

Present Mic: "Alright let's move onto the next fight!"

I watched as both Shoji and Tokoyami left the arena.

Present Mic: "And now, we have… Kirishima Eijirou vs Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu!"

'Great! Rock vs Metal, how interesting... Thank god they actually fought in this world, even if it was just a battle of brawns.'

"And all because of your ambitions? Your goals? That's a dumb reason to endure pain like this! You're just taking a beating like a punching bag!" That's what stuck out to me as Tetsutetsu beat the ever living shit out of Kirishima.

Tetsutetsu: "Hmph… You can't even see that half of your body is falling apart huh? Look at you… You're even starting to get shaky. You'll collapse any moment now"

'If I'm being entirely honest, I don't think the Kirishima of this world will win. This fight is just Kirishima going on about ideals and ambitions while Tetsutetsu actually has a brain. I'm actually happy, this is way better than some arm strength contest, this shows that metal beats rock.'

Kirishima: "Don't treat me like I'm weak! Yes, I'm shaky and I'm cracking, but you haven't broken me down yet!"

Tetsutetsu: "I'm gonna break you, even if it takes a million hits!" he continues to barrage Kirishima with multiple hardened punches, cracking his hardened body even more.

'That's how this whole fight has been, no offense or hate to Kirishima, but this is just pitiful. But I guess it's good character development.'

Tetsutetsu: "You're still going? You're hopeless. You're not gonna win, you know that right? Your ambitions won't help you here, they just make you stubborn"

Kirishima:"Tch! You're just trying to mess with my head! I won't let that happen! I will never give up no matter how much pain or suffering I endure!"

...

Tetsutetsu: "But that's the problem, your ambition and ideals blind you from your pain. They make you irrational, you can't even see that you're only making things worse for yourself"

Kirishima: "I don't care if I'm not being rational! I don't care if I'm not thinking straight! I care about giving it my all and staying true to my ideals!"

Tetsutetsu: "Ghh, you're being reckless! Haven't you realized how pointless this is yet?! Once you reach your limit you're gonna pass out! Why do you keep pushing yourself?!"

Kirishima: "Because I won't accept defeat! I refuse to accept defeat unless I'm completely knocked out! Until I'm physically incapable of moving!"

Tetsutetsu: "You're literally at your limit right now! Look at yourself! You're shaky and your body is cracked and bruised, how much longer do you think you can go on?"

Kirishima: "I-I don't know, but I'll keep going for as long as I have left! I-I won't lose, I have to prove these ambitions of mine!"

Tetsutetsu: "You're not accomplishing anything! All you're doing by fighting like this is torturing yourself! You're just making a fool of yourself, don't you see?!"

Kirishima: "Tch! You only say that because you're not ambitious like I am! You have no reason to go past your limit because you don't have a goal to prove!"

Tetsutetsu: "You don't know anything about my ambitions! And besides, this isn't about my ambitions, this is about your stubbornness and recklessness! Why can't you understand that?!"

Kirishima: "Tch! I'll never understand because I know that ambition is more important than my well being!"

'Dude, the Kirishima of this world is fucking retarded, holy fuck! As a hero doing this in a fight against a villain, that would be cool and all. But as a sports festival this shit is just pitiful, maybe I'm just a hater.'

Tetsutetsu: "And that's why you're stupid and reckless! You're just a mindless brute who can't even see reason! Why can't you accept defeat and admit that I win? You're just giving yourself more suffering by trying to fight against your limits!"

Kirishima: "I won't be convinced by someone who doesn't have any ambition or drive! I have an indomitable spirit and I can keep going for as long as I need to!"

Tetsutetsu: "You don't have an indomitable spirit, you have an indomitable EGO! You're so stubborn you can't even admit that you've lost this fight!"

Kirishima: "I won't admit that I've lost! Not until I am physically unable to move or pass out, which will NEVER happen!"

Tetsutetsu: "You're so damn stubborn! You refuse to admit defeat even when you're trembling and bloody! This is getting us nowhere, just give in and admit that you lost!"

Kirishima: "Absolutely not! I will never do such a thing! I'll continue fighting even if I have to take every hit you throw at me! My spirit is unbreakable!"

...

Kirishima: "Whatever ambitions you have clearly aren't enough to inspire you! You lack the drive and willpower to keep going for your dreams! That's why all you can do is call me foolish! You simply don't understand, you can't understand because you're weak!"

I looked at the announcer box where Aizawa and Present Mic were.

Present Mic was starting to laugh while Aizawa looks over at him

Aizawa: (under his breath) "What's so funny?"

Present Mic: "Those two kids are really going at it, don't you think?"

Aizawa: "They're both so stubborn it's actually kind of pathetic"

Present Mic: "Oh come on, don't say that Aizawa! Even if they're stubborn, it's great seeing them go all out like this! They're really giving it their all!"

Aizawa: "Stubbornness and recklessness aren't positive qualities in a hero, if they keep this up they'll only end up hurting themselves"

'Dude... am I the next Aizawa? Or is it just universal common sense? Either way, my respect for Aizawa has increased as my teacher.'

Present Mic: "Aw, they're just some first-year students, let them enjoy themselves! You're acting like an old grump, Aizawa!"

Aizawa: "Those "first-year students" need to be taught some self-restraint or they'll just end up as reckless heroes who don't know how to prioritize their well-being"

Present Mic: "You sound like you're just nitpicking at this point. These kids have all the time in the world to learn and grow, it's important to let them have a bit of fun while they're young!"

Aizawa: "Fun? This isn't fun. This is reckless behavior that puts both of their lives at risk. They're pushing themselves past their limits, they could end up with serious injuries"

Present Mic: "Aizawa, you're totally overreacting. They're just kids, they can handle a few bruises and scratches!"

Aizawa: "They're going beyond 'a few bruises and scratches.' They're taking each other's strongest hits head-on, I guarantee they'll suffer serious internal damage if they keep this up"

Present Mic: "You're acting like kids don't have any limits! I'm sure they know what they're capable of, right? If they're still going at it, that means they can handle it!"

Aizawa: "Mic, these kids are literally throwing themselves into danger. They're disregarding all logic and reason in favor of recklessness and stubbornness, that's not the behavior of sane or rational students at all"

Present Mic: "You make it sound like these kids are willingly walking into a suicide battle or something. They just really want to win. Can't you see how determined they are?"

Aizawa: "That's not determination, that's irrational behavior born from a need to feel accomplished. It's foolish and irresponsible"

Present Mic: "Aizawa, you're being too harsh. So what if it's not rational? They're young kids! They're meant to be reckless and energetic. Let them enjoy themselves"

Aizawa: "That's the point, they're too reckless and energetic without thinking of the consequences they're inviting upon themselves. They're going to get themselves hurt at this rate, and the only thing they're really accomplishing is showing everyone how foolishly stubborn they are"

Present Mic: "Aizawa, you're such a pessimist! Lighten up a little! They're kids, they're meant to make mistakes and get hurt. It's the only way they'll learn"

Aizawa: "I'm aware that they're kids, Mic, but their behaviour is clearly irresponsible and irrational. They're going to end up getting themselves injured if they keep this up. Plus, what lessons are they even learning by throwing themselves at each other with everything they've got?"

Present Mic: "They're learning resilience and determination! They're pushing themselves past their limits, that's what's truly important!"

Both Kirishima and Tetsutetsu were at their limit and collapsed to the ground, bruised and beaten. The match had ended in a draw.

Present Mic: "Alright everyone, the fight between Kirishima and Tetsutetsu has ended in a draw! Both fighters are unable to continue"

Aizawa: "They both pushed themselves too far. They're being evaluated by Recovery Girl to check the extent of their injuries

Present Mic: "Yeah, I'd say it was a pretty intense battle! Those two really gave it their all! Both of them have potential to be great heroes if they keep up with that kind of resolve!"

Aizawa: "They both lack rational thinking and need to learn self-restraint. They could have prevented all this recklessness, but this is what happens when you let blind ambition and stubbornness drive you"

Present Mic: "Come on Aizawa, give 'em some credit. Those kids are trying their best. They might be reckless, but they've got passion. I think it's great to see students full of determination!"

Present Mic announced the next match

Present Mic: "Alright folks, this next match-up is Bakugo vs Midoriya, both first year students from Class 1-A. This is sure to be an exciting match!"

'Ah shit- they better get ready to make sure Midoriya doesn't get killed by Bakugo. This about be some real Main Character shit now.'
