"Sirus…"
Looking at Yuujin standing before her, Videl's gaze was filled with complex emotions.
Time and time again, he had surprised her. Even something as rare as a Senzu Bean—he could casually give it away. Videl was growing more and more curious about Yuujin's true identity.
Understanding what she was thinking, Yuujin simply chuckled and lightly tapped the girl's forehead—
"Videl, one day, I will tell you everything you want to know."
"But now is not the right time. Just be patient for a little longer."
"Th-then it's a promise."
Videl's cheeks flushed slightly as she spoke.
Perhaps even she hadn't realized it yet, but her trust in Yuujin had already gone far beyond that of a normal friendship.
Since Sirus had promised to tell her his true identity, then he definitely would, right?
"Now that your stamina has recovered—"
"Come at me with everything you've got. Let me see your true strength."
"Alright, but be careful!"
Shifting the topic, Yuujin took a step back, while Videl nodded seriously, regaining her composure.
Knowing the gap between them, she didn't hold back at all. Clenching her fists, she launched an all-out attack on Yuujin.
"Haaahhhhhh!!!"
After eating a Senzu Bean, Videl felt an unprecedented surge of energy. With each punch and kick, she unleashed her full power, attacking relentlessly.
Yuujin easily dodged and blocked, nodding from time to time.
Videl had never learned any formal martial arts, only basic combat skills. But it was obvious she had put in an immense amount of effort. Every move was sharp and precise, far from the flashy but impractical techniques of amateurs.
After over ten minutes, Videl finally stopped, panting heavily.
"S-Sirus… how was it?"
She asked between breaths, eyes carrying a hint of expectation. She wanted to know how someone like Yuujin viewed her strength.
"Not bad. Really, not bad at all."
Yuujin nodded, not hesitating to praise her.
"I-I just train by myself usually…"
Hearing his approval, Videl felt a little shy but was still very happy deep down.
However, she misunderstood something—her current strength was nothing in Yuujin's eyes. What he truly valued was not her current power, but her potential.
From her movements and attacks, Yuujin could tell—Videl had remarkable talent in martial arts. More importantly, she was incredibly hardworking.
To him, Videl was like an unpolished gem. If she trained under his guidance, she might even break through her limits and reach the same level as Chi-Chi someday!
"Do you have any other techniques? Show them to me."
"Okay!"
Videl nodded.
Aside from her basic combat skills, she also knew how to sense energy and use Flight. She had learned these years ago when a martial arts master gave a free lesson in Orange Star City, and she attended.
Energy sensing, as the name implies, allows one to perceive the energy of others, determining their location and strength. True experts could even predict their opponent's attacks by detecting changes in their energy—an incredibly useful skill in battle.
As for Flight, it enabled martial artists to break free from a planet's gravitational pull and move freely through the air, making it invaluable both in combat and daily life.
In fact, on Earth today, if you couldn't sense energy or use Flight, you could hardly call yourself a martial artist.
However, Videl's energy sensing was quite crude. She could barely detect others' positions and power levels, and her range was very limited. Using it in battle was out of the question.
As for Flight… well, the fact that Videl could even fly at all was a miracle to Yuujin.
"Videl, have you ever fallen from the sky before?"
Yuujin patted her shoulder and asked.
"…A few times."
After thinking for a moment, Videl admitted.
"You didn't die from it? That's amazing."
"..."
Seeing the sincerity in Yuujin's expression, Videl's face turned bright red.
She was smart enough to understand what he meant, but she had no choice! That martial arts master had only given a brief explanation, and after that, she had to figure everything out on her own. Being able to fly at all was already impressive!
Yuujin understood. It wasn't that Videl wasn't smart or hardworking—she had simply never had proper guidance.
With the right teacher, her strength would be far beyond what it was now!
"Videl, for today's first lesson, I'll teach you how to control your energy."
After assessing her abilities, Yuujin made his decision.
Rather than rushing to teach her powerful techniques, it was better to start with the basics—helping her control her energy. That way, at the very least, she could use Flight properly and wouldn't have to worry about falling mid-air.
Videl had no objections. The fact that Yuujin was willing to train her at all already made her grateful. Whatever he taught, she would learn.
Yuujin then carefully explained the basics of energy control and some simple, practical techniques. Though these were fundamental skills, they were crucial for any martial artist.
Energy was a mysterious force. Those who could understand, master, and wield it would not only improve their strength significantly but also pave the way for even greater growth in the future.
As Yuujin explained, Videl listened intently, occasionally asking questions. Yuujin answered each one patiently.
It felt as though she had stepped into an entirely new world. Like a sponge, she absorbed all the knowledge, and many of the things that had confused her before suddenly made sense.
"This is amazing! Flight can be used like this?!"
Soaring through the air, Videl excitedly spun around like a child.
Before, she had to concentrate completely while flying. If she lost focus for even a moment, she'd fall—very dangerous.
But now, even if she lost control, she could stop herself in midair.
Not only that, but she could now perform complex aerial maneuvers she wouldn't have dared attempt before. Her flying speed had more than doubled!
Watching her, Yuujin nodded in satisfaction.
She was indeed an incredibly talented girl. With just one lesson, she had already grasped so much.
Even Yuujin was starting to look forward to it—just how far would Videl go under his guidance?
