"Well, things just took a dark turn," Kent said weakly. He had a year and a couple of months that he could have used to complete the original quest when he emerged from his sword and draconic enlightenments while in seclusion.
He and the ladies alongside his legion could have used that time to enter the dungeon and clear every last floor within months. However, a message was waiting for him when he came out of his second draconic enlightenment.

That was the message, if Kent recalls correctly. The time was estimated based on the tower time, so Kent knew he still had some time.
