Hello.
Its me Valerian, the writer of Reincarnated as Selim III.
This work, Reincarnated as Selim III, is a work of fiction. Though it draws heavily from real historical figures, timelines, and Islamic civilization—particularly that of the Ottoman Empire—it remains, first and foremost, a story. A reimagining. An exploration.
I've chosen to tell this story through the lens of reincarnation, alternative outcomes, and what-ifs. This does not mean I am rewriting faith, nor rewriting sacred law. Islam is already perfect; what fluctuates is human understanding, context, and the choices we make as societies evolve. As my teacher once reminded me:
"Islam is perfect. Muslims are on a journey."
In that spirit, I approach this tale not to preach, nor to judge, but to reflect—to imagine what might have happened had the Ottoman Empire taken a different path, one rooted in reform, unity, and dignity across faiths and cultures.
I love Islamic history. I love alternate history. And above all, I love imagining how the past could teach us about our present.
That said, any interpretation of religious law, character portrayals, or decisions made by real figures in this narrative are fictionalized. If you find differences from recorded history, know they are intentional—crafted not to insult, but to ask: What if?
Please take this story as it is: a passionate fusion of research, creativity, and imagination.
May it inspire thought. May it spark discussion. And may it remind us that the past—real or rewritten—still holds power to move hearts.
With gratitude,—Valerian
