The soft glow of moonlight filtered through the curtains, painting silver streaks across the room. The aftermath of heat still lingered in the air—skin damp, breaths slow, bodies tangled together in the massive bed.
Mei Mei lay curled against Liam, her bare skin pressing into his warmth, her fingers tracing lazy patterns on his chest. She was sated—utterly satisfied, blissfully at peace. But more than that, she was devoted.
Her violet eyes, filled with a rare kind of tenderness, gazed up at him with something deeper than love—worship. It was a dangerous thing, to adore a man like Liam so completely, but she never once questioned it.
She belonged to him.
Liam's fingers traced slow, lazy circles down the small of her back, the touch featherlight yet possessive. Every now and then, he let his nails drag just enough to make her shiver.
"Mmm… just like that," Mei Mei purred, nuzzling closer, her lips ghosting over his collarbone. "You spoil me, you know that?"
Liam smirked, his fingers slipping lower, making her arch into him. "Do I?"
She hummed, pressing herself deliberately closer.
"Like a naughty kitty," She teased, enjoying the way he toyed with her, both physically and mentally.
His touch never wavered, slow, controlled, deliberate. "Maybe I just like hearing you purr."
A soft giggle left her lips, her fingers trailing up his stomach, appreciating the taut muscles beneath her touch. "And here I thought you liked me for my brains and business sense."
Liam chuckled, pressing a lazy kiss to her forehead. "That too. But mostly, I like you because you belong to me."
Her heart skipped a beat.
Damn him.
Even after all these years, even after he'd broken and rebuilt her into something his, he still had the ability to make her weak with just words.
She smirked, propping herself up on her elbow. "Speaking of business, I have a suggestion."
Liam gave her an amused glance, dragging his knuckles over her side, watching as goosebumps followed his touch. "You're thinking about business right now? After all that?"
Mei Mei giggled, flicking his forehead lightly. "I'm always thinking, darling. Even when you're distracting me in the most sinful ways."
Liam caught her wrist, flipping her onto her back in one swift motion. He loomed over her, dark amusement gleaming in his eyes. "Sinful, huh?"
She licked her lips slowly, eyes filled with playful challenge. "Absolutely."
He leaned down, brushing his lips over hers but pulling back just before she could close the distance.
"Then what makes you think I'm interested in talking about business right now?"
Mei Mei exhaled a slow, shaky breath, her body responding to his teasing instantly. But she wasn't one to let him win so easily. "Because it's important."
Liam stared at her for a moment, then sighed dramatically, rolling onto his back. "Fine. Talk."
She smirked in victory, resting her head on his chest, tracing random shapes against his skin.
"Yuki Tsukumo."
Liam raised a brow. "What about her?"
"You and her have similar goals," Mei Mei said, voice casual. "Wouldn't it make sense to work together?"
Liam didn't respond immediately. He merely continued tracing circles along her spine, silent, thoughtful.
Mei Mei tilted her head, studying him. "She could be a powerful ally. And she's beautiful, sexy, strong—"
Liam cut her off with a sharp chuckle. "Are you offering me another woman, Mei Mei?"
She grinned mischievously. "You do love taming strong women, don't you?"
Liam smirked, fingers skimming down her side, making her squirm. "Maybe. But no, Yuki isn't someone I'd bring in."
Mei Mei blinked, slightly surprised. "Why not? Her vision of a curse-free world is just as grand as yours."
Liam exhaled slowly, his fingers still idly caressing her.
"Her goal is noble," He admitted, "but unrealistic."
Mei Mei frowned, shifting so she could look into his eyes. "How so?"
Liam turned his gaze to the ceiling, his expression unreadable. "She wants to create a world without cursed spirits by removing cursed energy from humans altogether. It sounds simple, but the execution? Impossible."
Mei Mei propped herself up, resting her chin on his chest. "How so?"
Liam's fingers absently trailed down her back, but his voice was distant, lost in thought.
"There are only two ways to achieve a world without curses," He murmured. "Either humans stop feeling negative emotions entirely—"
Mei Mei snorted. "Yeah, that's never happening."
"Exactly," Liam smirked. "Or… we erase cursed energy itself. But even if we could—which is a stretch—how would we cover the entire world? It's not just about Japan. Every nation, every human, every corner of the earth would need to be touched. It would take sacrifices. A lot of them."
Mei Mei fell silent, contemplating. She knew Liam wasn't one to back down from destruction, but something about this made him hesitate.
"You don't think it's worth the risk?" She asked softly.
Liam exhaled sharply. "I think… even if we succeeded, human nature wouldn't change."
His voice turned colder, darker. "Greed, selfishness, cruelty. Even without curses, those things will never disappear. There will always be people who take power and use it to control others."
Mei Mei's fingers tightened against his chest. "Like the Jujutsu clans."
Liam nodded. "Exactly. That's why I'm destroying this system first. So power isn't concentrated in the hands of a few who can decide life and death on a whim."
Mei Mei let out a slow breath. "And after that?"
Liam was silent for a long moment. Then, he gave her a rare, quiet smile. "That... I need more time to decide."
Mei Mei studied him for a moment before chuckling. She rolled on top of him, straddling his waist, her hands pressing into his chest.
"You know," She murmured, leaning down, her lips hovering just above his, "You're so sexy when you think like this."
Liam arched a brow. "Sexy?"
"Mmm," She hummed, brushing her lips against his jaw, deliberately teasing. "Irresistible."
He smirked, flipping them over with ease so she was beneath him once more. "You just want me to spoil you again."
She grinned. "Is it working?"
Liam leaned down, catching her lips in a deep, slow kiss. When he pulled back, his voice was dark and low.
"Always."
Mei Mei sighed, utterly content, running her fingers through his hair. "No matter what path you choose, Liam… I'll follow you."
Her voice dropped to a whisper.
"After all… I belong to you completely."
Liam stared down at her for a moment before smirking.
"I know."
And then, he claimed her again.
