Chapter 269 - Second Daughter II

(Third Person POV)

"T-This cannot be...." Saera sobbed as she tried to wipe away the tears, "No.....I....no...."

Maegelle walked into the room, seeing that Saera was sitting down on a couch, still wearing the nightgown she wore during giving birth. Saera's hair was a mess while her eyes were red from sobbing constantly.

"Saera..." Maegelle walked over and sat down next to her, "What is wrong?"

"I failed....." Saera sobbed, "I failed My Love...."

"What makes you say that?" Maegelle grabbed her hand, "Don't say such things."

"I gave her a daughter....." Saera looked at her sister, "A daughter....I promised him a son....I wanted to give him a son.....Maegelle....I gave him a girl...."

"Is it so wrong?" Maegelle said with a smile, "She is so precious, that little girl...."

"I...." Saera said as tears poured down her eyes, "No....I could not.....I failed him....I promised him a perfect warrior....a powerful being that could rival his sons...."

She hunched over, her lips quivering as her entire body trembled completely, the anxiety and emotions swelling up inside her.

"Saera...." Maegelle rubbed her shoulder, 'Calm down....just...you need water, let me get you something..."

"No!" Saera shouted, "I don't deserve to live....I am a failure....I hate myself.....I could not....I could not do what was expected of me...."

"Don't say that..." Maegelle frowned, "Sister....please, you're breaking my heart."

"Mine is already shattered...." Saera sniffed, her lips trembling, "I....fuck, why am I such a stupid failure? I spoke so.....so boldly....I claimed that I would give him something he would love more than Riktor, more than Sylas.....but I failed...."

"You set expectations really high for yourself, Saera..." Maegelle placed her hand on her lap, "They were nearly impossible to meet."

"I...." Saera looked at her, "I am not you, Maegelle.....I.....I am not wanted by him...."

"What?" Maegelle frowned, "What are you saying?"

Saera sobbed, "He doesn't love me like he loves you...." She managed, "Like he loves Daranne....or Mya....I am just....I am just sexual release for him...."

"No, that's not true...." Maegelle said

"It is...!" She said as she covered her face, "I am just a body he can release his carnal desire....I am nothing else....He hates me.....he probably doesn't want to look at me...."

"Saera..." Maegelle said, "Look at me...hey, look at me."

She pulled her hands away and had her sister look at her.

"W-What...?" Saera asked as tears kept flowing

"Do you have any idea how long Mya or Daranne waited for a child to be put in them?" Maegelle asked her, "Hm? Longer than you think. It was difficult for them to convince him to do that. Even when Drakken had claimed them as his women, he was still skeptical. And me? He waited for me...yes....but even then.....it was still a long time..."

Saera sniffed, "S-So what?"

She patted her cheek, "My dear sister." She said with a smile, "The moment you joined us, he immediately took you. He wasted no time. Perhaps that was sexual release, but putting a child in you? You waited the shortest amount of time to receive that privilege...so be proud of that...."

"But..." Saera said, "I gave him a girl...."

"What does that matter?" Maegelle asked, "You were too caught up in your disappointment that you did not see his face, Saera! The way he looked at her, it was unlike everything I've seen! And I've been there for Riktor and Sylas's births! There was nothing but love behind those eyes, he was not disappointed in the slightest."

"But.....he said....that.." Saera managed, trying to calm down, "Expectations...."

"That is him talking...." Maegelle leaned in and kissed her cheek, "You want to feel better? Let me tell you something....and this is important.....he named her."

"Eh?" Saera said, a bit surprised, "What does that-"

"Riktor and Sylas, their mothers named them." Maegelle explained, "He didn't care what they were named. Vaella, too, he didn't mind. He didn't care to think of one. Sure, with Vaella, he was a bit more accepting and he held her unlike the boys.....but your daughter? He named her! He thought of a name, and he gave it to her! Do you understand how big a deal that is??"

"M-My Daughter?" Saera said softly

"Your daughter...." Maegelle nodded, "He named her. That is important to think about, Saera...."

"I..." Saera said

"She needs sleep." a voice said, "Let her rest."

They all looked over to see Drakken standing in the entrance of the room, holding the child in his arms.

"M-My Love....." Saera said softly, standing up slowly, "I....please....please forgi-"

"Go to sleep, Saera." Drakken told her seriously, "We'll speak tomorrow."

"But...." Saera said as tears flowed down, "I...."

"He is right, sister." Maegelle grabbed her shoulders and gently pulled her alongside, "Let's get you to bed."

"But....My Love..." Saera said softly, "I...."

"Shhh, it's okay." Maegelle said as she reached the bed and gently lay her, "Don't worry about a thing. Just sleep, and then when you wake up, I'll bring you something to eat, alright? I'll take care of you, don't worry....."

"I...." Saera said as she slowly closed her eyes

Maegelle leaned in and kissed her forehead, "Sleep, my sister." She said softly,

"Just rest."

********************

"Postpartum Depression." Drakken said as he placed Astorias in the cradle, "That is what she has."

He was in Maegelle's chambers, taking his newly born daughter with him and laying her in a cradle next to Vaella's. According to him, it was better if the child slept with both he and Maegelle that night, saying that he wasn't sure if it was ideal for Saera to be in the same room as the girl.

"What...?" Maegelle asked, "Saera....?"

"The symptoms are quite obvious." Drakken straightened up, "Emotions swirling all around that head of hers...disappointment....anxiety.....and sadness....she set herself with nearly impossible expectations and it's coming to bite her in the ass."

Maegelle was sitting down in the bed, "I see...."

"If she had given me a son, what then?" Drakken asked, "What guarantee is there that the boy would be greater than Riktor? Riktor is special, he is my firstborn.....he will be something beyond understanding....but....oh well, she deluded herself."

"You allowed her...." Maegelle said softly, "To delude herself...."

"I tried to snap her back to reality." Drakken told her, "But she is a stubborn one, your sister."

Maegelle looked at him, "Will she be okay?"

"Depends on how it lasts." Drakken said, "This is the early stage, I guess. She could get worse....or better....I don't know."

"She needs our support." Maegelle said, "I understand that giving birth to a child may affect a woman differently....I am glad that I did not go through that affliction...."

"Let her rest for now." Drakken walked over and sat next to her, "She needs it."

"Go with her." Maegelle said

Drakken looked at her, "What?"

"Go sleep with her. So she gets better." Maegelle said, "I'll stay with the girls."

"I don't know." Drakken said, "I-"

"Are you disappointed?" Maegelle asked, "That she gave you a daughter?"

"No." Drakken said without hesitation, "Not really."

"Then go to her." She said,

"Show her that you are not disappointed like she thinks you are."
