Was there really a wolf, or was it just "crying wolf"?
The commotion on that side was quite intense, causing Sonam to hesitate for a moment before deciding to go and take a look.
Chen Ying and Dao Meihua also followed, but as outsiders, they didn't dare get too close and stopped about seven or eight meters away.
"Brother Ying, do you think there really is a wolf, or is it just an excuse they've come up with?"
Chen Ying squinted at the distance, then looked at the sheep pen the family had enclosed.
"It might be both."
Chen Ying raised his hand, pointing to the sheep. "Look closely, the flock isn't leisurely dispersed and grazing; several of the younger rams look alert. Also, their two dogs are constantly watching the front fence, which means some animal must have come in the middle of the night and taken sheep."
But whether it ate that many sheep, or whether it was indeed wolves, it was too early to say.
