"Can I get some salt?" Anna inquired, turning with purpose as she guided Emo toward her mother.
"Salt?" The mother raised an eyebrow, intrigue sparkling in her eyes. "What could she possibly want with salt?" she wondered, exchanging a quick, curious glance with her husband.
"Yes," Anna affirmed, her tone earnest. "Do you have any?"
Stopping in front of the couple, she motioned for Emo to sit beside her mother.
"I want to try out a trick my mother taught me when I was growing up," Anna explained, weaving a tale to improve her confidence. Her plan was to demonstrate that the figure in the corner was indeed a siren.
