"I wonder... Was it necessary to make it so bloody?" Aang averted his gaze after seeing how badly wounded Unagi was the first time.
He didn't hunt animals for food, though he did eat their by-products. His culture's vegetarianism wasn't rigid; they could eat meat if necessary or if it was offered to them in certain contexts.
However, he wasn't accustomed to the brutality that could arise when hunting animals. Still, Aang knew he had to adapt. Katara and Sokka were natural-born hunters. Just as his culture had made him a vegetarian, the Southern Water Tribe needed a great deal of meat to survive.
"Sokka... he seems injured," Katara muttered when she saw Unagi's gigantic body. Though worried, she was also amazed by her brother's technique.
Aang had to pay attention to the fight despite how disgusted he was by all the flying blood. Sokka's technique made even the Avatar feel a deep sense of danger.
'If he catches me off guard, he could injure or even kill me,' thought Aang, who had always been aware of his mortality and frailty as a human.
Although he boasted a power that could transform the world, his body was still flesh and blood. Avatars were not immune to damage; even the first Avatar died from battle wounds and exhaustion. This fact reinforced the idea that Avatars were not invincible.
So Aang could understand the power Sokka demonstrated, even though it seemed complicated to execute. Not every technique would have the perfect scenario to manifest, but if it did...
'Sokka created something pretty cool,' Aang thought. His gray eyes sparkled with excitement. After all, even though he was a pacifist, he liked fighting, or rather, the fun that could be had during a fight.
"Fuck! He killed Unagi!" exclaimed Saori, who, along with her companions, had watched the entire fight from a distance.
They were waiting to see how Sokka would fight the giant creature. Sokka retreated after doing a huge amount of damage to Unagi. Even though Unagi would most likely recover, at least during that period, they wouldn't be overwhelmed by it.
They never expected her to land a critical blow to the head! Not only that, but she did it with a technique whose power could be felt despite the distance.
"He looked quite handsome, don't you think?" one of the warriors murmured to another. The other nodded in agreement.
"Too bad Suki caught him first..." one of the girls complained. Suddenly, someone among them said words that sounded like Vaatu's whisper.
"Hey, wasn't harem something legal in the South Pole?"
A terrible silence engulfed the warriors. All of them had shining eyes, and even Saori looked at Sokka with a hint of lust.
After all, we must respect the culture of others.
...
Suki quickly approached the shattered head of the already slain Unagi. When she jumped on it, her feet became soiled with blood, chunks of flesh, and bone fragments. However, she wasn't focused on that; she was focused on Sokka.
The young hunter hummed a little song as he calmly plucked the bone shards from his arms. The blast from his spear didn't take him by surprise, nor did the pain.
He had been hurt much worse on other occasions. When he remembered one such occasion, his back seemed to burn all over again. Sokka noticed Suki and, with much nonchalance, raised his hand in greeting.
"Hey, what's a beauty like you doing in these parts?" Perhaps because he was dizzy from blood loss, Sokka's body shook slightly as he spoke.
Suki stopped advancing and looked at him in disbelief before smacking his face. She suppressed the urge to hit the boy several times in the head with one of her metal fans.
"I'm worried about you, and you're making jokes," complained the warrior. Finally approaching her boyfriend's wounded body, she looked at his wounds sadly.
"HAHAHA! I'm as fresh as that old man's cabbages, very good, by the way. Don't worry. See? Now Avatar Kyoshi can't separate us," joked Sokka again before trying to stand up. His ankles faltered, and he almost fell into the sea. Luckily, Suki managed to catch him in time.
"Don't move. I'll take you to the beach. You need to disinfect your cuts and put on bandages," Suki declared. She crouched down next to the boy and hit several key points on his arms, rendering them insensitive.
She also stopped the flow of blood to Sokka's arms, preventing him from bleeding out. Then, she placed the hunter's body over her shoulder with relative ease. Perhaps she did this to avoid possible naughty hands.
"Suki, I never noticed it before, but you have a much better back than mine," said Sokka. Instead of focusing on her toned rear, which was marked by the wetness and tightness of her dress, Sokka decided to focus on the muscles of her back.
"You...!" Sokka! You don't say things like that to a girl!" she growled. Inside, she was proud and glad that her makeup was thick enough to hide her blush.
"But I already said it, Suki. What can I do? By the way, can someone bring Unagi's body ashore? I'd like to taste her flesh and use her bones to make weapons," Sokka requested, making Suki roll her eyes as she used chi to walk through the water.
"Are you seriously thinking about food and weapons now? While injured?" asked Suki, lightly patting Sokka's butt. He let out a groan.
"I try not to get an erection! You know, it's the adrenaline from wrestling and having contact with you, not to mention the way you walk and the way you shake your sexy ass.
Seriously, what did you do to keep the exercise from making your buttocks bigger? It seems like everything that should have gone to your breasts went to your ass!" Sokka was somewhat delirious from the previous bleeding and, as he had said earlier, from the euphoria of a grueling battle that had ended in a successful hunt.
"You're a fool, Sokka!" she shouted. Wanting to throw the boy into the sea, she reconsidered, knowing it might worsen his condition. She kept walking.
'Luckily, the rest of the girls aren't here. Imagine how they would act if they heard Sokka's nonsense. Although it's kind of cute that he's making that effort,' thought the warrior Kyoshi, who was happy inside despite her outward frown.
"Hmm? Yes, I have never denied that I am a fool. But now I'm your fool, Suki." After saying those words, Sokka felt his mind growing more and more foggy. He could barely concentrate, but he was lucid enough to listen to Suki's answer.
"You know, Sokka, we've known each other for a long time. I know you're reckless, but I never thought we would kill Unagi. I thought we would just chase him away after hurting him." Suki decided to be honest with Sokka. It was the least she could do since he was being honest with her.
"I know. My sister warned me last night about my actions. I think Avatar Kyoshi didn't believe in my ability, but I did it. In my culture, hunting important prey to dedicate to your mate is a gesture of commitment and seriousness.
My father single-handedly hunted a polar bear dog and gave the pelt to my mother. She still wears it as a coat to this day. There are stories of an Avatar from my tribe who did the same; she hunted a large creature for her husband.
Suki... I like you, even if I don't seem to show it. I don't know how I found the courage to tell you yesterday. Is it because of the pressure of the new age? The Avatar has woken up and will push for the changes that have been happening since Shishui started acting on behalf of the Fire Nation.
I'm afraid, but I knew that the courage and energy I had at that moment to hunt Unagi was more than enough to protect you from any danger.
Although we already have something. I never said it outright. Suki, do you want to be my girlfriend?" asked Sokka. But her consciousness stopped, her eyes closed, and a smile crept onto her face because of the last thing she heard.
"Of course I do. After all, you said you were my fool."
...
"I never thought the first person I would heal with waterbending would be you, Sokka," Katara said an hour later as she knelt in front of her brother, using the element to soothe the hunter's wounds.
Sokka, who had regained consciousness, ignored his sister's complaint and stared at the wooden ceiling, trying to ignore the itchiness of his wounds.
He knew the itching was due to the healing process and that he shouldn't scratch it. So, he took his mind elsewhere, especially to the moments before his brief blackout. He had awoken from it only several minutes ago.
'I said that nonsense!' Now that he was sane, Sokka regretted all the words he had said to Suki, or rather, the embarrassment of his more risqué remarks.
He wasn't sorry or ashamed that he had asked her to be his girlfriend. What was great was that she accepted! This made the boy happy; he wanted to jump backwards on the spot. However, his sister kept healing his wounds.
"You'll get some nasty scars. I haven't mastered healing very well. I still can't believe Shisui removed Princess Azula's and her friends' acne with Waterbending," Katara commented, finishing healing her brother's wounds.
"Scars are the marks of a warrior. Do you remember the claw marks on Dad's chest?"While Katara carefully bandaged her arms, Sokka asked her this question, making the brunette nod.
"Yes! I still remember when I first saw them. It was when I inadvertently walked into our parents' room, and..." The girl stopped talking and lowered her head, her face completely flushed.
"Peace to your mind, little sister. Peace to your mind," Sokka murmured sorrowfully, causing Katara to squeeze his bandages tightly and make him groan in pain.
"You were very brave against that thing, but now you're complaining about a little pain?" Katara looked her brother in the eyes and smiled, knowing he was exaggerating.
"My engagement hunt," he said suddenly, causing his younger sister to raise her eyebrows and open her mouth in astonishment.
"You! I have to send a letter to Mom about this!" Having received such unbelievable news, Katara abandoned her brother without hesitation.
Although she knew part of Sokka's motivation was to make a name for himself, she never thought he would propose to Suki. In their culture, a proposal is a serious commitment. This was different from what she thought the two of them had when she heard from her brother last night.
Their relationship wasn't normal anymore! Katara left, leaving Sokka alone, staring at the ceiling in boredom. Minutes passed, and he felt hopeless because he couldn't meditate to pass the time. Then, he heard the sound of the door opening.
"Katara? Did you finish writing your gossipy letter already?" he asked before turning around and realizing that it wasn't Katara who had entered the room but Suki.
"I'm not your sister, but I did finish gossiping with my classmates," the girl said as she sat down next to Sokka and stared him in the eyes.
"Women," the boy replied before receiving a slap on the forehead from Suki.
"You seem to have too much energy to talk nonsense. Maybe you have more energy for other things," Suki said, blinking several times as her makeup-free face turned crimson.
That afternoon, Sokka stopped being a boy and finally became a man.

OMAKE:
"Here we have a statue of Sokka The Great. He hunted everything that could be hunted and married all the Kyoshi Warriors of his generation, having dozens of children with each of them.
It is say the population of Kyoshi Island and the South Pole increased by 300% because of him. Now, they must find mates in other parts of the world to avoid inbreeding because, essentially, they could all be cousins, only for him." In Republic City, there was a huge statue of Sokka next to those of Avatar Aang and Sage Shishui.
Sokka was depicted holding a bone spear in one hand and what appeared to be a stone family portrait in the other. The portrait had all of his wives and children painted on it.
The man leading the schoolchildren's field trip had dark skin, blue eyes, and a haircut closely resembling Sokka's.
Except for those who possessed features from other nations, the children in front of him appeared to be dark-skinned and blue-eyed. They regarded Sokka's statue with particular respect.
After all, it was the statue of their grandfather. Even the fearless Korra, a talented Waterbender, gazed with reverence at the magnificent statue of her grandfather.
'When I grow up, I'll be just like him. All the boys and girls will be mine! HAHAHAHAHAHA!' the little spawn thought wickedly, just like her grandfather in the past.
Apart from 'The Great,' Sokka was known for one phrase during his lifetime: 'They are all mine.'
