Chapter 15 - Interrogation

It was lunchtime, free activity time.

After lying on his bed, Liens entered the instance, the time being this morning.

He was prepared to 'ask' his 'good roommate' Wooly what exactly was going on.

"Hmm, alright."

The scene replayed; the same cold response came from Wooly's mouth, but this time Liens wouldn't let him finish speaking and leave.

"Hey, Wooly, why the cold expression? We're roommates, and our beds are next to each other. Why the cold attitude? Are you unhappy with me?!"

Liens strode forward and clapped Wooly's back, stopping him from leaving, then put on an "I'm angry" expression and said to him.

Perhaps taken aback, Wooly froze for a moment before immediately responding.

"No, I'm just a bit tired, not in a good state, so please don't bother me."

With that sentence, anyone could see Wooly's firm attitude of distancing himself.

However, he had wasted his sword practice time to come here, not to hear that sentence.

It was just that Wooly was determined not to communicate with him further, so he could only give up on peaceful communication to extract information.

He wasn't very good at verbal tricks anyway, and he didn't want to waste too much time, so it was better to use some "unconventional methods."

Thus, Liens switched to an instance at a different time; this current time wasn't good for taking action.

With other people present, any conflict would only be stopped, and if he directly resorted to force, he might not even win.

Therefore, he decided to switch to nighttime, during sleep, so he could directly attack Wooly while he was sound asleep.

First, go out and find a heavy stone, then use a bedsheet to tie up Wooly, and finally, hold the stone against his head to threaten him.

Liens thought this and was preparing to do exactly that.

The scene shifted.

As his ability activated, Liens returned to the middle of last night.

Liens woke up from his bed; in reality, at this time, his consciousness should have been in the instance.

However, there was no "instance within an instance" situation; he simply woke up normally from sleep.

The instance recorded the body's experiences; when he used the instance in reality, his body was sleeping.

After a brief period of blindness, Liens quickly adapted to the dark environment of the dormitory.

This was mainly because the dormitory wasn't completely dark.

Last night, they hadn't closed the window before sleeping, which allowed for ventilation, preventing the dormitory from becoming too stuffy.

It also allowed the moonlight from outside to shine through the window, adding a bit of light to the dormitory at night, preventing it from being completely dark.

Liens carefully got up from his bed and left the dormitory, trying his best not to disturb his sleeping roommates on either side, especially Wooly.

Otherwise, he would have to start over, which would be too much of a waste of time.

Stones were not difficult to find; after a little time, he found a suitable one.

It was of suitable weight and had sharp edges; smashing it hard on a head should achieve the "cracked skull" achievement.

After finding his threatening weapon, Liens returned to the dormitory and began tying up Wooly.

This process was much more troublesome than before; a moment of carelessness while tying him up could wake Wooly, directly ruining the plan to tie him.

Even if his limbs were tied and Wooly's movements were restricted, if he was a little slow in gagging his mouth, Wooly could make a sound and wake the others.

Liens tried several times before successfully replicating the entire threatening process perfectly.

"Quiet!"

"Don't make any unnecessary movements, and don't try to make any sound."

"Otherwise, the stone in my hand will smash heavily onto your head. Believe me, Wooly, it will definitely leave a big dent in your head."

Liens said softly to Wooly, who he had just woken up.

His voice was very soft, and his tone was calm, as if he were stating a very ordinary matter to a friend.

But the content of his words and the sharp object resting on his head made Wooly dare not make any unnecessary movements.

"Liens, what are you trying to do?"

Wooly asked Liens softly, somewhat trembling.

He had no idea what madness had possessed Liens to suddenly attack him in the middle of the night.

Could it be that Liens felt he couldn't hold on any longer, so he wanted to drag someone down with him before he died?

Thinking of this possibility, a few more traces of fear appeared in Wooly's apprehensive expression.

"Why are you and Wendell and the other five distancing yourselves from the other people in the dormitory? Are you hiding something from us?"

Liens asked coldly.

Hearing this, Wooly was a bit confused; they did intend to distance themselves from others to avoid exposing their secret, but it was just an intention.

They had just finished discussing things and returned to rest; they hadn't even had time to show that attitude. How did Liens know they had this idea?

"Speak, are you hiding something very important from us? Are you trying to harm me?"

"If you don't speak, I'll kill you!"

Liens maintained his calm tone as he questioned Wooly, while the stone in his hand lightly tapped Wooly's forehead a few times, indicating a threat.

Feeling the tapping on his forehead and hearing Liens' threatening words, although he still had some doubts, Wooly had no time to think carefully.

To avoid enraging Liens, this "madman," Wooly hastily denied, "No, no, no, we have no intention of harming you."

Because he was anxious, his voice raised slightly. Fortunately, everyone else was sleeping soundly, otherwise Liens might have had to start over again.

"Quiet."

"So, what exactly are you hiding from us?"

Liens told Wooly to speak more softly, then continued to question him, seemingly convinced that Wooly and the others were definitely hiding something.

To this question, Wooly remained silent for a while, seemingly unwilling to answer.

But when Liens saw Wooly's silence, he used the stone to slide back and forth on his forehead a few times, making him realize the situation: not speaking would have very serious consequences.

"We are discussing a plan to escape the Training Camp."

"You should also have that feeling, right? With our physical condition, it will be very difficult to survive the cruel training in the Training Camp."

"So, whether it's you or us, only by escaping can we possibly survive."

"I originally intended to invite you to join us, but you went straight to bed as soon as you returned to the dormitory, not giving me a chance to speak."

"But it's not too late to join now. One more person means one more strength. With your addition, our hope of escaping will increase by another point."

Under the threat of death, Wooly finally responded and tried to pull Liens into their plan.

Unfortunately, Liens had no intention of joining them.

"Alright, thank you for your answer. Finally, I wish you all success."

After Liens finished speaking, he left this instance.

Escape the Training Camp?

Liens had considered this idea, and had even used an instance to investigate the high walls and main gate of the Training Camp, but he had temporarily abandoned this idea later.

Firstly, it was very difficult to escape; secondly, he had no ability or means to resolve that "contract," so even if he did escape the Training Camp, he would still die.

After leaving the instance, Liens opened a new instance again, but it wasn't for sword practice, but to confirm whether Wooly's words were true.

This instance began at the time before sleeping last night.

This time, Liens didn't go straight to sleep after returning to the dormitory; instead, he found Wooly and had some communication with him.

After a simple conversation, Wooly invited Liens to attend a late-night gathering later.

The gathering briefly discussed the escape plan, but because they had been there for too short a time and their understanding of the Training Camp was limited, no one offered any brilliant ideas.

However, the leader of the gathering stated that in addition to their dormitory, other dormitories also had people from escape teams.

Finally, after admonishing everyone not to reveal the secret, this simple recruitment gathering ended.
