Chapter 270 - Ch 270 : Tsunade last day 2

The entire afternoon, Tsunade was extra cautious in serving Makoto, afraid of making another mistake.

Watching Makoto completely focused on his work made Tsunade feel somewhat conflicted.

After all, he was so busy because of the village.

The little time he had to rest had been disturbed by her.

She told Samui about accidentally dirtying the pillow and said she would take it home to clean it.

Samui had no objections.

By evening, most of the staff in the Hokage building had left.

Seeing that Makoto had also finished his work, Tsunade hesitated for a moment before stepping forward and saying, "Lord Hokage… today is my last day."

Makoto glanced at her and said, "Mm, your debt is cleared."

Hearing this, Tsunade finally let out a sigh of relief.

Everything had ended smoothly.

She added, "Um… I'll take the pillow home and wash it properly."

Before leaving, she entered the lounge and took the pillow from the bed.

The saliva stain had long since dried, making it barely noticeable.

As she stepped out of the Hokage building, the cold night air made her instinctively hug the pillow tightly.

The moon hung high, the streets were sparsely populated.

She turned back to look at the now-dark Hokage building, her emotions complicated.

Everything that had happened over the past few days felt unreal.

She couldn't believe she had actually gone through all of this.

Although she had been called the Hokage's assistant, in reality, she had been nothing more than his personal maid.

But at least it was over now.

After tonight, tomorrow would be a brand-new day.

When she arrived home, Shizune looked at her in confusion, wondering why she was carrying a pillow.

Tsunade said that this was the Hokage's pillow, and she had accidentally dirtied it, so she needed Shizune's help to wash it.

"The Hokage's pillow?"

Shizune gave Tsunade a strange look, her expression clearly implying—how exactly did you dirty the Hokage's pillow?

Of course, Tsunade couldn't explain.

If she admitted that it was because she drooled in her sleep, the misunderstanding would only get worse.

She immediately glared at Shizune, signaling her not to ask too many questions.

But this reaction only fueled Shizune's curiosity even more.

After dinner, Shizune washed the pillow clean, but it was obvious that it wouldn't dry overnight.

Tsunade was troubled—she didn't know any Wind Release jutsu, so she found a fan in her room and started fanning it vigorously.

"Lady Tsunade, what are you doing?"

"Trying to dry it faster. Get a fan and help me."

"..."

The Next Day

Tsunade, looking exhausted, carried the pillow to the Hokage building.

She arrived later than usual, and the Hokage was already there, discussing official matters with someone.

Not wanting to disturb them, she walked into the lounge as usual—only to find a new pillow already placed on the bed.

It seemed that Samui had replaced it with a fresh one.

Tsunade looked at the pillow in her hands, then at the one on the bed, and slumped into a chair in frustration.

She felt like an idiot—of course there would be spare pillows for washing.

If she had known earlier, she wouldn't have wasted so much effort last night.

With a long sigh, she lowered her head and looked at the soft pillow in her hands.

She brought it to her nose and sniffed—it had the scent of her own laundry detergent, though after being blown by the wind all night, the scent had faded quite a bit.

She picked up the pillow from the bed and sniffed it—it still had that pleasant, lingering scent of aromatherapy.

Just then, the door to the lounge suddenly opened.

"What are you doing?"

Tsunade was startled and quickly put the pillow down, standing up at once.

Feeling a little embarrassed, she stammered, "Ah… um, I just thought… the scent on the pillow smells really nice. What brand is it? Where can I buy it?"

Samui replied, "There's an aromatherapy shop on North Street. The perfumer there delivers some every month. Lord Hokage is quite particular about scents—his home is stocked with them too. He personally selects them from the perfumer."

Tsunade said, "Oh, I'll go check it out sometime."

Samui added, "This fragrance is custom-made and not for sale, but if you mention my name when you visit, the perfumer will give you some."

Tsunade had only brought it up to change the subject, so now that the conversation had shifted here, she simply nodded in thanks.

"Did you get the pillow cleaned?"

"Mm."

"It dried overnight?" Samui seemed a little surprised.

In this kind of weather, it would normally take at least two days to air dry properly.

"…Ah." Thinking about her own foolish efforts, Tsunade's lips twitched slightly.

She then said, "If there's nothing else, I'll be going now."

Staying here still gave her the lingering feeling of being a servant.

Samui bid her farewell, and Tsunade walked out of the Hokage's office.

The person who had been discussing official matters with the Hokage had already left.

Outside, in the main office, only Makoto remained, sitting at his desk.

Completely focused on his work, he didn't even lift his head.

He must have heard her footsteps, though, because he suddenly spoke.

"Pour me a cup of tea."

"..."

Tsunade's steps froze instantly.

She glanced back at the lounge, remembering that she had closed the door when she left.

Samui probably hadn't heard him.

Right now, the only people in the office were her and Makoto.

If she ignored his request outright, wouldn't that seem too cold?

Then again, their relationship wasn't exactly good to begin with.

It wouldn't be strange to act indifferent…

As she hesitated, Makoto spoke again.

"Hot tea."

That command made her reflexively turn toward the lounge, stopping at the door only to curse herself internally—why was she still following his orders?

Inside, Samui was unwrapping the pillow Tsunade had brought that morning.

Seeing her enter, she asked, "Something wrong?"

Tsunade looked at her and asked, "What… are you doing?"

"I'm going to infuse it with the fragrance."

"Oh…"

Tsunade walked over to the tea station and poured a cup of hot water.

But after hesitating for a moment, she lifted it to her lips and drank it herself.

She said, "The Hokage just said he wanted some hot tea."

As she spoke, she poured another cup.

"…I just happened to be thirsty too."

Samui smiled. "You've worked hard."

Tsunade looked at the steaming hot tea in the cup, picked it up, and walked back out, placing it on the desk.

Seeing that Makoto didn't even lift his head, she finally couldn't hold back and said, "Next time you call for Samui… speak louder."

Halfway through her sentence, Makoto suddenly looked up at her, making her voice unconsciously lower.

"I'm leaving."

"Mm."

Another indifferent response. It seemed like he always treated her as nothing more than a servant, which made Tsunade extremely displeased—but she didn't dare to lash out.

She glanced at the tea she had just poured and thought to herself, Why didn't I just give him boiling water? I should have burned that bastard's mouth!

Leaving the Hokage's office, she realized it was still morning.

For the first time in a while, she found herself with nothing to do.

Shizune could go out and play with friends every day, but she didn't really have any close friends to talk to.

She had spoken quite a lot with Samui recently, but that was all work-related.

Work, my ass!

She suddenly thought of Mabui.

She actually liked that gentle girl quite a bit, but showing up at her house today didn't seem appropriate.

With nowhere particular to go, Tsunade wandered the streets aimlessly—until she somehow stopped in front of a shop.

It was an aromatherapy store.

Even from the street, she could smell the mixed fragrances drifting from inside.

Why did I come here…?

Then she remembered what Samui had told her.

Since it was going to be free, why not take some?

With that thought, she stepped inside.
