While issuing the order, they were also scanning the surroundings.
After all, it was impossible for that surge of energy to appear for no reason. There had to be some mysterious force behind it, or perhaps some creatures had come to cause trouble.
There had been similar incidents before, so for the demons, remaining vigilant was crucial.
"Thoroughly investigate any abnormalities in the area. There must be no negligence!!"
At this moment, a high-ranking demon addressed the gathered demons with a stern expression.
This matter was clearly no trivial one.
If it wasn't handled properly, they could all be doomed.
"Yes, sir!!"
Immediately, the demons stationed throughout the perimeter responded in unison, their voices firm and resolute.
However, once the orders had been issued and the demons had dispersed, only the high-ranking demon and two mid- and low-tier demons remained.
Seeing that they were alone, the high-ranking demon exhaled, but the tension on his face didn't fade.
After all, no one could be sure what exactly was behind the strange energy signature.
And "373"—whatever that meant—looked extremely dangerous.
With that in mind, the high-ranking demon prepared to ascend into the demon skies to report the anomaly to the Demon King.
But suddenly—
A beam of searing light shot toward them from an unknown direction, packed with intense, raw energy capable of annihilating everything nearby.
"Shit! Move!!"
The high-ranking demon's expression changed dramatically as he shouted.
But it was too late.
BOOM—!!
The beam struck a massive tree directly behind the high-ranking demon, erupting in a deafening explosion.
The ground trembled violently. Gravel and dust were blasted into the air, and a thick layer of the terrain was uprooted.
The tree—standing over thirty meters tall—was cleanly severed and crashed to the earth.
WHOOSH!!!
From the direction of the beam, a young man emerged, walking calmly. His expression was indifferent, posture straight, and his presence mysterious.
An endless black aura coiled around his body, pulsing with immense energy.
That beam of light? It had come from him.
That man was Finn.
He didn't speak, only stared coldly at the demons in front of him, focusing particularly on the high-ranking one.
The attack he'd just launched could have easily killed the high-ranking demon.
But he had chosen not to.
"Some strength..."
The high-ranking demon glared at Finn with deadly seriousness, killing intent radiating from his eyes.
This guy had dared to launch a sneak attack—an unforgivable offense.
He must die today.
"Are you human?" the high-ranking demon suddenly asked, suspicion flashing across his face. "Were you sent by the Angelic Order?"
It wasn't out of the question. The Angelic Order was known for its illusionary magic and deceptive appearances.
Finn only smirked. "You really are unbelievably stupid."
The demon's face twisted with rage. "You've just signed your own death warrant. Don't you realize the situation you're in?"
Finn shook his head and replied flatly, "You should be ashamed to even say that. Scum like you should be wiped off the face of the multiverse."
"Talk! Or I'll teach you what real pain is!" The demon's voice was as cold as ice, devoid of emotion, signaling his intent to kill without hesitation.
Finn merely smiled, the corners of his mouth curling slightly. "You're not just ugly—you're stupid too."
He wasn't fazed by the threat. If he had feared the demon, he wouldn't have launched the first attack.
The high-ranking demon's eyes darkened. With a guttural roar, he shouted, "Die!!"
He swung his arm forward—and in an instant, dozens of black vines materialized out of thin air and shot toward Finn.
Chi chi chi!!
In the blink of an eye, the vines closed in.
Finn's expression shifted slightly. He realized these weren't illusions.
They were real.
Swish!
He moved to dodge, stepping back hard.
But the vines had anticipated this. As soon as his foot touched the ground, they snaked up and wrapped tightly around his legs, immobilizing him.
!!!
"Heh, you're not going anywhere now, are you?"
The high-ranking demon sneered wickedly as he saw Finn trapped.
The other demons laughed darkly alongside him.
To them, this human was a fool.
He dared infiltrate their city and insult them?
He was asking for death.
"Really?"
Finn's face didn't change. Instead, a strange smirk appeared.
A crushing wave of energy exploded from his body.
Buzz buzz buzz!!!
The vines began to vibrate and—
Crack.
They shattered inch by inch, collapsing into black dust.
The high-ranking demon's pupils dilated in shock.
"What... what the hell?!"
His mind reeled.
While he wasn't as strong as Mephisto, he was still high-ranking. His demonic vine—a unique weapon among elite demons—wasn't something to be broken easily.
It was incredibly tough, laced with toxic essence, and lethal even to his own kind.
But Finn had crushed it in seconds.
"That your prized vine?"
"Pathetic."
Finn scoffed, then surged forward with sudden speed.
The high-ranking demon immediately raised his guard.
Finn's power wasn't overwhelming, but his speed and precision were terrifying. His attacks were brutally efficient.
Brush!!
Finn's fist slammed into the demon's chest.
Boom!
A muffled explosion echoed.
The demon flew back like a ragdoll and crashed into a nearby wall, embedding into it with a loud thud.
Puff!!
Blood spurted from his mouth.
He stared at Finn in utter disbelief.
That one punch nearly cracked his ribs.
"How's that?"
Finn approached with a casual smile, his tone laced with menace.
The demon's eyes widened, a mix of fear and fury etched across his face.
How had this human—with his limbs supposedly immobilized—counterattacked so violently?
Could it be...
He was hiding his strength all along?
No. No way. That couldn't be it.
He must be wrong.
"Human... who the hell are you?!"
He glared at Finn with a venomous gaze.
This man had to have a secret.
Otherwise, how had he broken the vine's bindings?
"Who am I?"
Finn blinked, then laughed. "I'm your Daddy!"
"Huh???"
The demon's brow furrowed, confused. "What?!"
Finn chuckled again. "You don't deserve to know my name. All you need to know... is that I'm here to end you."
"Arrogant human!!"
With a snarl, the high-ranking demon launched another attack.
