Chapter 12 - THE MORNINGS

The next morning, I awoke to the soft, golden light of dawn filtering through the curtains, casting a warm glow over the room. As my eyes fluttered open, I felt the gentle weight of her head resting on my chest, her breath steady and calm. She was still deep in sleep, her bare skin pressed against mine, and in that moment, she looked even more beautiful than ever before. The usual spark of her playful energy was replaced by a serene, almost angelic stillness. Her hair was tousled, cascading over her shoulders, and her lips were slightly parted as she breathed softly. I couldn't help but smile, my heart swelling with affection.

As I shifted slightly, trying not to disturb her, she stirred, her fingers instinctively gripping my shoulder. She let out a soft groan, her voice muffled by sleep. "It's Sunday… no gym today," she murmured, her words barely audible. I chuckled softly, my hand gently brushing a strand of hair from her face. "Okay, princess," I whispered, my voice low and tender. "I'm all yours today." With that, I settled back into the pillows, pulling her closer. She responded by wrapping her arms around my waist, her cheek nuzzling against my chest as she drifted back into a peaceful slumber. The warmth of her body against mine was intoxicating, and I soon found myself succumbing to sleep once more, my arms holding her tightly, as if to protect her from the world.

By 8 a.m., the room was bathed in the soft light of morning, and she began to stir again. This time, she yawned softly, her eyes fluttering open as she lifted her head slightly to look at me. Her fingers began to playfully poke at my shoulder. "Wake up, sleepyhead," she teased, her voice still heavy with sleep. I groaned in mock protest, my hands instinctively finding her waist as I pulled her down beside me. "Five more minutes, princess," I murmured, my lips brushing against her ear. She grinned, her eyes sparkling with mischief, and I couldn't resist pulling her even closer, my hands gripping her waist as I nuzzled into the nape of her neck. The scent of her skin was intoxicating, and I felt myself drifting back into a drowsy haze.

She turned to face me, our noses almost touching, our breaths mingling in the quiet space between us. For a moment, we simply lay there, lost in each other's presence, the world outside forgotten. Her eyes were half-closed, her lips curved into a soft smile, and I could feel the steady rhythm of her heartbeat against mine. It was a moment of pure, unspoken intimacy, a silent acknowledgment of the love we shared.

After another half hour, she finally woke up fully, her fingers gently tracing patterns on my chest. "Come on, lazy," she said, her voice now more awake and playful. I groaned again, reluctantly opening my eyes to see her sitting up, the sheets draped around her body. She looked at me with a mock-stern expression, and I couldn't help but laugh. As I got out of bed, I grabbed a bathrobe for myself and handed her one as well. It was mine, but it looked surprisingly good on her, the fabric hanging loosely around her frame. "Come on, panda," I said, reaching out to take her hand. "Let's go brush our teeth."

She pouted playfully, her eyes narrowing as she looked up at me. "Actually," she said, her tone dripping with faux seriousness, "because of someone who made me so tired last night, I can't walk. I request that you carry me to the bathroom." I grinned, shaking my head but unable to resist her charm. Without a word, I scooped her up into my arms, her laughter ringing out as I carried her to the bathroom. We stood side by side at the sink, brushing our teeth, our eyes meeting in the mirror as we shared silent, knowing smiles.

As she prepared to step into the shower, I leaned against the doorframe, a mischievous glint in my eye. "Shall I join you?" I asked, my voice low and teasing. She turned to me, her cheeks flushing slightly as she gently pushed me away. "I know you," she said, her tone playful but firm. "If you come in, all the water will be wasted, and I'll be even more sore." I laughed, raising my hands in mock surrender before stepping back and letting her close the door.

While she showered, I sat on the edge of the bed, scrolling through my phone, though my mind was far from focused on the screen. My thoughts kept drifting back to her, to the way she looked at me, the way she laughed, the way she felt in my arms. When she finally emerged from the bathroom, her hair damp and her skin glowing, she stood in front of the mirror, drying her hair with a towel. She caught my eye in the reflection and smiled. "What do you want for breakfast?" she asked, her voice soft and inviting.

"Anything," I replied, my gaze never leaving hers. She nodded, her smile widening as she reached for a comfortable t-shirt and a pair of track pants. As she began to change, her eyes met mine again, and there was a playful challenge in her gaze. "Aren't you going to leave the room?" she asked, her tone teasing. I shook my head, a smirk playing on my lips. "Why should I? I've seen every inch of you already," I replied, my voice dripping with mock innocence.

She rolled her eyes, though I could see the faint blush creeping up her cheeks. "It's a girl thing," she said, gently pushing me toward the door. I laughed, allowing her to shove me out of the room, though not without a final, lingering glance over my shoulder. As the door closed behind me, I leaned against the wall, a smile tugging at my lips. She was my everything, and in moments like these, I couldn't help but feel like the luckiest person in the world.
