Ivanna tapped the ground under her creating sound to attract them,
But Only silence replied.
Panic started to set in –
'where could her beloved kittens be?'
Ivanna's face lit up with a warm, gentle smile as she finally spotted the kittens
huddled together in the bushes,
their big round eyes peeking out at her with familiar curiosity.
"Finally found them here," she silently mouthed in relief,
her lips curving upward as she exhaled a held breath.
Her hands reached out slowly, palms open and gentle,
to caress their soft, fluffy fur –
a touch they usually welcomed eagerly.
But to her surprise and growing concern,
the kittens backed away from her touch,
their eyes wide with fear –
a reaction Ivanna had never seen before in all their time together.
They were always hesitant with strangers,
watching them warily from a distance,
but never afraid of her –
their caregiver, feeder, and playmate.
