"Lightning Style: Chakra Mode?!"
Gaara frowned slightly as he looked at the lightning flashing across Sasuke's body.
He didn't expect this Konoha Genin to actually know the Raikage's Lightning Style Armor, which was not good news for him.
After activating Lightning Style, Sasuke's speed increased tremendously—he almost turned into a bolt of lightning.
"Swish!"
Sasuke vanished in a flash, and when he reappeared, he was already behind Gaara.
"What are you looking at?" Sasuke said coldly and stabbed his kunai at Gaara's back.
"Hmph!" Gaara snorted but didn't move: "Idiot!"
Just as Sasuke's kunai was about to pierce Gaara, a surge of yellow sand erupted from Gaara's body, completely blocking the strike.
"What?!"
Sasuke was stunned. He pushed harder, but he couldn't break through the sand's defense.
With no other choice, he leapt back.
As soon as he moved, a giant sand hand burst from the ground, crushing the spot where he'd just stood.
"Hmph, you escaped fast." Gaara said coldly.
"You're afraid of death!" Sasuke growled, watching the sand flow around Gaara.
This is bad, Sasuke thought. That sand around him has insane defense. And I don't have high-impact attacks…
"Damn it!" he cursed to himself.
"What? Nothing left to try, little bug?" Gaara smirked madly. "Then just die!"
The cork popped off Gaara's gourd. A flood of sand poured out and rushed toward Sasuke.
"Sand Rain!"
The sand turned into dozens of dense, high-speed bullets that blasted toward Sasuke.
"Sasuke, watch out!" Naruto shouted, wanting to help.
"Don't move!" Sasuke shouted, halting him.
He was frustrated. Naruto and Sakura had already finished off their opponents, yet he was struggling. Am I the weakest one on the team now?
"You forced me!"
Sasuke dodged the sand bullets, then pulled a card from his ninja pouch, held it to his chest, and muttered, "Use!"
"Swish!"
The card turned into a beam of light and vanished into his eyes.
Gaara narrowed his eyes. What is he doing? Does he think a card can help him defeat me?
"Go to hell!" Gaara snarled, sending more sand toward Sasuke.
But Sasuke didn't budge. His hands trembled—not from fear, but excitement.
Is this the Mangekyō Sharingan?!
Sasuke trembled from the heat in his eyes. What power... he muttered with a manic smile. If only this wasn't temporary… I could go kill Itachi right now!
Sasuke opened his eyes.
The incoming sand shattered on contact with the sheer pressure of his aura.
Gaara froze. Sasuke's eyes weren't just the ordinary Sharingan. A six-petaled flower spun in his pupils—enchanted and terrifying.
"That card...!" Gaara realized. That's what changed him!
"Hmph. No matter how powerful that card is, you're still no match for me!" Gaara snarled and launched another sand wave.
"Is that all?" Sasuke mocked from atop a tree, his head held high.
To him, Gaara's movements now seemed sluggish—easy to dodge, effortless.
"There's no need for this to go on."
He vanished from the tree.
"Swish!"
In the blink of an eye, he was right next to Gaara.
Gaara's sand only just began to move as Sasuke struck, kicking him under the chin and launching him into the air.
"It's over!"
Sasuke jumped up, spun, and slammed his heel into Gaara's ribs. The sand barely began to rise from the ground to defend—but too slow.
"Boom!"
Gaara slammed into the ground, a crater exploding beneath him.
"How…?" Gaara gasped, barely conscious.
"Snap!"
A cascade of sand fell and buried him.
"Huff…"
Sasuke stood on a nearby tree branch, panting.
Then—he fainted.
"Sasuke!" Naruto shouted, rushing forward to catch him.
"Sakura, we need a safe place to treat him!"
"Right!"
They snatched Temari's scroll and carried Sasuke away through the forest.
"…So that's the power of the Mangekyō Sharingan…"
A raspy voice murmured from deep within the shadows nearby.
