Sienna's POV
The strange being's hand froze inches from Caius's glowing heart. Everyone in the cabin held their breath. Then the being turned to me, its eyes turning from gold to deep ruby red—the same color as mine.
"The Ruby Wolf," it said, voice like thunder and whispers all at once. "The last of her kind. Or so everyone believes."
My heart pounded in my chest. I looked around the room—at Kieran, no longer an alpha but still standing tall; at Ronan, the darkness of the Midnight Queen contained but not defeated inside him; at Caius, his vampire heart exposed and glowing gold against all nature; at my brother Zeke, his eyes shining with the same power that ran through my veins.
"What do you want?" I asked, surprised at how steady my voice sounded.
The being smiled. "I want what was promised to me ages ago. A choice."
Outside, the black moon cast strange shadows through the windows. The wolves who had gathered stared in fear and wonder.
