What he heard wasn't Lily Turner's voice, but the voice of an unfamiliar man. Henry Thompson was only momentarily taken aback, not surprised or bewildered at all.
"Is this your intention, or hers?"
Henry didn't ask who the person on the other end of the line was. In his view, Lily Turner never lacked men flirting with her, and the man speaking to him now was just one of them.
The person on the other end did not ask who he was in the first sentence, nor did he show any surprise, which left Easton Holmes a bit confused and intrigued, but he didn't dwell on it too much.
"It's the intention of both us as husband and wife."
He deliberately emphasized the words "husband and wife," and when he said them, he put a bit more weight into the tone, just to make sure the person on the other end didn't ignore it.
"Husband and wife?!"
Easton's deliberate words caught Henry Thompson's attention on the other end of the line.
