"I was merely asking. You dont have to tell me," Evans said after a long silence. He resumed his steps with his hand clasp together behind his back.
Edith watched his back for a while, his question still lingering in her thoughts. The context of his question was worth thinking about, and she needed to find an answer to that question, too. She thought he was just someone who she couldn't rely on, albeit just momentarily, but today, that didn't seem to be enough anymore.
Her reaction to knowing he would be getting married to someone else left her feeling.... strange.
It wasn't a good feeling and she didn't like it.
Perhaps finding the answer to Evans' question would help her understand her own feelings better.
