Chapter 80 - Chapter 80 : What To Comes Next ?

I'm not attending another meeting ever again. What possessed me to agree to attend it is beyond me. Well, actually not—it was that annoying quest I had to complete.

The meeting—or War Council, as people call it—is just a fancy name for people who want to kill other people in a large group. Anyway, the meeting turned out to be a lot more boring than I first thought it would be.

A lot of brainstorming on my part, after seeing the dimwit, stubborn old fools of the North who call themselves lords trying to break their brains against the otherwise fantastically big wooden table Stark had in the war council, in the pursuit of getting answers to their problems, somehow…

Ironically, even after almost everyone knowing them, it was I who voiced those questions.

Their names resolve around Budget, Weapons, Manpower, and Ration. Something has to be done to acquire all of these things before the war really starts, otherwise the North as it is right now couldn't stand a chance to defeat the Whites.

Well, I do believe we've got a pretty good chance to beat the Night King—especially with me around. Even if Mjolnir can't kill him, which is a big if by the way, I still think it didn't work on the Undead due to them being low-level back then. I can still just carry a dragonglass weapon or Valyrian steel weapon with me when I go after the Night King.

Hammer him until he's down and then boom, like Arya said, stab them with the pointy end.

Unfortunately, again, my powers are kind of tied to this ridiculous system of missions. Like the system was designed for me to grind. Some RPG game level design shit.

Fortunately, the last journey went pretty well for me. I liked the journey itself—killed two, three super annoying characters in the story pretty early and upgrade points…

Cool.

Hard work paid off. Nothing is more satisfying than seeing one's progress after a grind.

Unfortunately, however, that's where my happiness ends. And more grinding begins.

A new Main Mission immediately after the first one was completed.

Main Mission [Prepare For Winter]

Help the North prepare for the upcoming war.

—-

That is a little confusing. What kind of preparations is the system asking for?

Probably the same questions I raised earlier. Should've kept my mouth closed. Sigh.

Weapons, Money, Manpower, and Food. That's what's needed in the North right now. With enough knowledge from the original story, finding most wouldn't be that hard.

We need dragonglass weapons, and we could only get those in Dragonstone.

We need food, which could either be provided to us by the fertile lands of Highgarden in Westeros or imported overseas from Essos.

The manpower problem was the easiest and hardest at the same time. There is literally a force of one hundred thousand beyond the Wall in the form of wildlings.

If we don't get them in time, then we would eventually face them either when they are forced to travel south due to the advance of the White Walkers or even worse, as walking dead in the Undead legion.

Nope, I refuse that. I'll have to do something about that. However, it's easier said than done. Those Free Folk are one heck of a stubborn bunch. Making them see reason would be hard, to say the least.

There was also the fact that I can get some good soldiers from overseas. But again, that would need money. Or I could pull a Daenerys onto them, but for that too I need a living, breathing dragon. That or a lot of thunder…

Let's not let my mind roam towards mass murdering for now though. The biggest trouble in all this is, again, money. The eternal truth, if there ever existed one.

Where can I get money to acquire food, manpower, and if required, dragonglass?

One thing at a time… Thor… one thing at a time. Or rather just forget it for the time being. I just came back from a long journey, I very well deserve a good rest.

It was nighttime. I found myself in one of the impressive rooms of Winterfell—a much-needed upgrade from my last accommodation here. Saving the lord and the ladies of the house earned hefty brownie points, huh? Who would have thought?

For the time being, the lords of the North are planning to each send men and resources to the Watch. Much-needed thing to do, but that won't be enough.

It was getting late, so a detailed plan of action hasn't been determined. But I do know that the North alone can't beat the Night King.

I really wonder how the TV series ended. Perhaps I could have gone down that route. But then again, who knows if the directors fucked it up.

It's not like that was a sure-shot way of winning after all. I have changed way too much already. For instance, Arya in this world would never learn under the Faceless Men. Ned Stark is alive. Both Baelish and Varys are dead. Mountain too may have turned into a moron—or perhaps he died; there was no official word about his condition after the Tourney.

Those are good changes, at least according to me. However, there are also some unexpected and bad changes which I can't foresee coming.

Bran somehow got kidnapped by none other than Sandor. They also happen to go beyond the Wall. This was surprisingly like canon, only Sandor wasn't there.

Jon Snow defected from the Night's Watch to look for Bran, and Samwell Tarly went with him.

If that wasn't enough, then Jaime Lannister of all people has gone beyond the Wall with none other than Benjen Stark. What madness clouded his mind to do that? The man was a walking red flag… Sigh.

And in all this time, I still don't know what's going on with the biggest player in the game.

How is the Mother of Dragons faring? Did the story change for her too? I wonder…

And… how are Mother and Father?

Not my parents, of course, but apparently, it wasn't just the memories I inherited, but also the emotions.

Can't say I would consider them as my parents, but I've come to care for them as I learn more of Thor's memories.

Wouldn't mind going back there if I got the chance. Even if that means dealing with Loki's shenanigans again.
