Chapter 27 - Chapter 27

Two weeks later, the island trip was today, and everyone seemed to be excited except Kaylee. She replayed so many memories of her time with Ivaander repeatedly in her mind.

Which all led back to his eyes changing color, and what she had researched on her laptop. It didn't make any sense to her, but fear and curiosity seemed to take advantage.

Her emotions were conflicted whenever she could remember their hands touching one another. His smile and how his scent always felt heavenly and safe.

It was weird to her that she, for some odd reason, couldn't stay away from him. They always seemed to run into one another without trying. At least that is what Kaylee assumed.

There were moments she wanted to run into him, but it would always be at the worst times, in her opinion. Then, he would run into her, and she couldn't shake the feeling that it was planned on his part.

Regardless, Kaylee felt relief hearing he decided to come, which meant she could keep an eye on him much more closely. This trip would tell her something about him, and perhaps she could actually ask him.

The only issue with that was they weren't going alone. Though she felt that would be safer because she didn't know what Ivaander was capable of.

What exactly was he? Is he a friend or foe? How old is he really? Did he come here for a purpose, or was he simply some alien lifeform from a different planet in search of some food?

"Ugh…." Kaylee remarked aloud, sitting up quickly in her bed after staring at the ceiling deep in thought for such a long time.

"Hey! Hurry up! We are leaving in 10 minutes!" Tiffany shouted at Kaylee, pounding on her door for her to quickly hurry up.

"Okay!" Kaylee arguably shouted back towards Tiffany as she crawled to the edge of her bed to get up.

Kaylee couldn't believe this was happening, but she inhaled deeply and exhaled, hoping that this trip wouldn't turn bloody. After careful packaging, Kaylee and Tiffany both left their apartment and headed for the trip.

After two hours, the entire group met up not with Ivaander and all packed up their bags, and hit the road. Finally, they all arrived at the airport, sun and beach ready, prepared for a nice hot trip.

Kaylee and the group, including Ivaander, who had arrived a bit later, all jumped into the private jet that would take them there. Tiffany sat beside Bradley, Mark sat beside Ivaander, while Justin sat with Kaylee.

"Man, I'm so psyched for this trip!" Mark stated as he removed his headphones from his ears.

"Yeah…. It would've been better if Mr. Horse face here didn't tag along." Justin glanced over towards Bradley and Tiffany.

"…. You mad you don't got a bitch to fuck on the trip or what?" Bradley mocked with an arrogant laugh and tone.

Justin unhooked his seatbelt before Mark jumped into the argument once again.

"Yo, chill! Chill!"

Kaylee shook her head at them once again, with a somewhat chuckle in her throat. Before her orbs would land on Ivaander, who seemed not to care for the commotion.

Rather, his mind seemed to be in a book that was in his hand. Kaylee noticed he had been reading that book for almost the entire plane ride. She was curious to know what was so interesting about it that he couldn't seem to put it down.

The ride went on for the entire day, until the group landed the next day in the early morning. Tiffany immediately unhooked her seatbelt and rushed to a window to look out.

"Hey! Guys, wake up! We're here!" She shouted excitedly.

Some grunts here and there from the others, as they all looked out the window to see the marvelous island below. Kaylee, looking in awe a bit at how big and beautiful it all seemed.

She still couldn't grasp the fact that Tiffany's father could afford such trips like this. She would never be able to in her entire lifetime.

Sometimes, she disliked the fact that she hung around Tiffany at times, because it made her feel poor. It was like having a rich, wealthy friend who did nothing but brag about her materialistic lifestyle.

Eventually, the group landed on the island as the pilot escorted them to the private mansion that was owned by Tiffany's father. The mansion was massive itself, as well as vehicles for them to use.

Many waterfalls along the way and around the mansion itself, as well as nothing but land and trees for miles and miles. The group got out of the cars that brought them here, and Tiffany turned to look at them all.

"Well???….. what do you all think?" She said, smiling.

"Whoa…." Mark spoke.

"We're gonna be staying here?" Justin said with a grin and a nod.

Kaylee said nothing as she looked at the mansion, and shifted her gaze to Ivaander as the two looked at one another simultaneously. Kaylee looked away after realizing Ivaander looked at her at the same time.

"Mhm! This place is dope! We are gonna—" Tiffany was about to explain before Bradley immediately chimed in and rushed inside the mansion.

"Then stop talking and let's go… shit I gotta fucking pee man— and then I needa smoke."

"For once… I agree with his ugly ass… I do need a smoke." Justin stated before walking past everyone else and heading inside with his bags.

"You brought those packs?" Mark asked Justin as he caught up with him and took his bags as well.

"…Uh.. okay, ugh well—" Tiffany said, fumbling over her words a bit upset that no one was listening to her as she headed inside as well.

Kaylee sighed at her friends as she watched Ivaander look around at the sensory. Watching him carefully, before she finally found the words to say to him.

"…..Looking for a way to escape?"

Ivaander turned his eyes over to her, as the two were a little distance away from one another. Ivaander, finding a bit of amusement in her question, replied.

"Ah..ha….is it that obvious?"

Kaylee couldn't help but form a small grin at his remark as she looked down briefly and backed up at him, holding her bags.

"…Yeah.. you probably should've decided that back before we got on the plane."

"…..Nah… I couldn't do that.." he replied towards her.

"...Why's that?" Kaylee responded in a soft yet curious tone.

The two eyed each other without even an inch of movement before Ivaander formed a small smirk of his own.

"…..Because you're here…and what kind of gentleman would I be to leave a woman who dearly wants the same thing…"

Kaylee hears his response, all while feeling the calm and soothing wind blow her hair. She felt that feeling once again inside her heart, skipping with his words.

Although she remembered their last moments together and that feeling of warmth turned into sorrow as she choked up a bit.

"...You didn't seem to care about that the last time…."

Ivaander, listening to her response, exhaled with a sigh of disappointment. Before responding back towards her sharp, piercing words.

"….It was for your own safety…"

"Whoever said I needed you to protect me?" Kaylee quickly replied to him.

Ivaander couldn't help but chuckle at her remark while briefly looking down and back up at her as he shook his head a bit.

"...Why must you be so stubborn…?"

Kaylee softened her orbs after hearing his soothing, charming, and mesmerizing voice before Tiffany came out of the mansion and saw them both.

"….Are you two coming inside or do you want me to pitch you two some tents?" Tiffany remarked to them both as they both turned to look at her.

Ivaander kept his grin a bit at Kaylee before grabbing his bag and walking past her into the mansion. Kaylee, smelling his scent once again, as if it filled her nostrils with a lavender fragrance.

He always smelled heavenly, and she couldn't deny she was a sucker for men's cologne, but something about Ivaander having it on made her smile more. She immediately turned around as well and gripped her bags to head inside.
