Chapter 55 - I’m Fine

The Qin family has good upbringing; in front of the little succubus, Qin Mom wouldn't say anything unpleasant, only expressing herself in a euphemistic way.

But Bai Ningning is indeed a little succubus, and on this point, Qin Mom doesn't want to be euphemistic at all.

So charming that it made the eldest daughter lose weight!

Thinking of this, she said it directly: "Yueyue, you still say you're living well. Look at you, you've lost quite a bit of weight in such a short time."

Qin Yue was slightly taken aback: "Where have I lost weight?"

"Still saying you haven't."

Qin Mom glanced at her chest, thinking that her eldest daughter's former pride doesn't seem as impressive as it used to be.

Qin Yue noticed her gaze and tugged at the corner of her mouth: "Mom, that's just your illusion."

"An illusion?"

"I measured myself a couple of days ago to make new clothes," Qin Yue said lightly, "There's no change from before."

In fact, it's even slightly bigger.

"Is it, is it?" Qin Mom was also stunned.

But she clearly felt it had shrunk a lot.

Bai Ningning looked at Qin Mom, then at Qin Yue, and then down at herself, and understood.

"That's very normal, Auntie," she said softly, "Size is never an absolute value; it's just a feeling based on comparison."

Battleships and aircraft carriers are always a bit different, even if it's just a little bit.

Qin Mom felt a bit unhappy; it sounded like this little succubus was implying that her daughter was not as good as her?

Although in this regard, it's indeed not as good… but as a child of the Qin family, how can one be overshadowed by others?

Fortunately, at this moment, the maid pushed the dining cart over, easing the awkwardness.

"Madam, Miss, Miss Ningning, please have your meal."

After sitting at the dining table, Qin Mom suddenly remembered there should be one more person: "Where's Xinxin? Aren't we waiting for her to eat together?"

"I don't know," Qin Yue picked up her chopsticks, "She often eats alone."

As soon as she said this, Qin Yue regretted it; sure enough, when Qin Mom heard this, she immediately became worried.

"But she's your biological sister, blood is thicker than water, Yueyue. Your sister hasn't come home and hasn't eaten; you should care a bit!"

Qin Dad and Qin Mom have always been concerned about the "sisterly bond." This time, Qin Mom's second main purpose for coming was also to worry about the relationship between the two sisters. Now seeing the situation at home, with the younger sister not even eating with her older sister, it made her anxious.

Now that the younger sister wasn't there, she could only advise the older sister more.

Qin Mom earnestly spoke, from blood ties to family, from ethics and reasoning to emotions, even bringing up childhood memories to tug at the heartstrings, saying how when you were only ten years old, you watched your sister grow up, and how your sister loved to cling to you when she was younger, how beautiful that time was, blah blah blah.

Qin Yue felt more and more of a headache; she began to regret why she didn't bring Qin Xin back earlier today.

One hand can't clap alone; she wanted to be a good sister… or rather, she had no resistance to being a good sister, after all, it's not a difficult task, but the problem is that her sister doesn't give her the chance.

Every day is a civil servant-like life, besides sleeping, it's eating; besides eating, it's going to school. When she gets home, she immediately goes to her room to do homework. How can they communicate and cultivate their relationship?

A clever woman can't cook without rice.

At this moment, Bai Ningning suddenly spoke up: "Junior Qin Xin should be going to the club recruitment today."

And she is the new one.

Qin Mom was slightly taken aback: "Club?"

What is that? Is it more important than sisterly bonds?

"Yes, a club, a university interest club," Bai Ningning explained, "Although there are no credits or other requirements, theoretically every student needs to participate, as there is pressure from semester GPA."

Oh, that does sound quite important.

"We'll talk about Xinxin's matter when she comes back," Qin Mom said, "For now, let's discuss the issues between the two of you."

...

At Xicheng University, the annual club recruitment was in full swing. From the wide northern playground to the long corridor next to the boys' dormitory, from the steps in front of the teaching building to the grand auditorium next to the library, there were club booths everywhere.

The girl, dressed in black knee-high socks, strolled through the bustling campus. The weather was nice today, neither too hot nor too cold; a short skirt paired with long socks was just right.

No matter where she walked, the recruitment pitches were incessant.

"Literature Club, Literature Club, a club with a solid foundation and positive energy. We can't say much else, but just look at our name; we have guaranteed funding and school recommendations every year."

Traditional clubs, emphasizing a laid-back vibe, can be considered campus civil servants.

"Math Club, with a solid foundation…"

Same as above, but not truly delving into profound academic research, just coasting along.

"Astronomy Club, for those who love gazing at the stars."

They don't even have a high-precision telescope or an observatory; what's the point? Watching videos on a computer? It's better to just go home and watch; the Qin family has an observatory.

"ACG Club, yes, it's the largest club newly established this year. We have the most funding and the best resources; anyone who likes anything related is welcome to join."

Qin Xin paused for a moment by the roadside.

The ACG Club, the one where Ningning senior is. If she joins, she could spend more time with her senior.

Should she go?

The girl took a step forward, paused in silence for half a minute, then pulled back.

No, even if they were together, what would it matter? When she goes home, wouldn't her senior be at home too? What's the point?

Not only would it not benefit her, but seeing her sister interact with her senior would also hurt her heart.

She felt too weak; it was all because she lacked strength. If she had no strength, what difference would it make how much time they spent together?

The girl continued walking down the corridor, the shade of the trees growing denser, as if she were walking on a road of an unseen abyss of despair.

Go Club, Chess Club, Ludo Club, Tennis Club, Basketball Club, Table Tennis Club. With so many clubs, which one could possibly help her…

Huh, why is it suddenly quiet?

Qin Xin looked up and saw a club booth by the roadside that was different from all the others. They had no speakers or loudspeakers, just a man and a woman sitting upright, their expressions solemn, like the guardians of an ancient temple.

They were wearing Taekwondo uniforms, exuding an impressive aura.

Qin Xin's heart skipped a beat as she approached and asked, "Is this the Taekwondo Club?"

Maybe, just maybe, she could find the strength she was looking for here.

"No," the girl behind her said clearly, "This is the Mixed Martial Arts Club!"

...

"Problem?" Bai Ningning tilted her little head, "I have no problem."

What do you mean discussing the issues between Qin Yue and me? What problems do I have?

Qin Mom was momentarily speechless: "You have no problem?"

Bai Ningning spread her small hands: "What problems could I have?"

Qin Yue remained silent.

"When I came on Sunday, you two spent the entire night together, which caused you to sleep all day the next day, and you have no problem?"
