The school was thrown into an uproar as students peeped out of their windows. "Isn't that the president?"
"What's he doing here?"
"That Hallie's father, right?"
The first time they'd all come here, it had been a secret movement, but right now, no one cared as they walked towards the hall for the parents teacher meeting.
Hallie stared from the staircase, walking everything unfold. She saw the fear on her mother's and Logan's mother's face. Almost like pity, or regret, she couldn't tell. But from all the parents, it seemed to her that only Helena and Rita were the ones with the human hearts. Motherly love? She couldn't tell, she'd never had a mother to begin with. Her grandmother was what the world meant to her, but she'd died early, her grandfather had followed weakly and then two years, later, she too.
She scoffed lightly with a small smile. Seemed the universe was desperate to wipe the young family out of the face of earth.
