"Are you alright?" Lucas picked Mia up by her waist and pulled her away from the countless shards of glass that had scattered all over the floor. His eyes fell on the painful expression on Mia's face, and he felt his heart ache in a manner that he couldn't accept. He shouldn't be acting like this—not when he knew that one day he was going to break Mia's heart even worse than the glass that shattered on the floor.
"I am fine," Mia replied. She looked at her feet, which were bleeding, and then raised her head to look at Bree, whose face had morphed into that of a concerned one. Her eyes flickered, and she felt a sharp, buzzing zap in her head. For a second, her vision turned to the grainy, grey and black one as if she were watching an old movie. In the back of her head, she heard someone say,
'Are you hurt? This shouldn't be enough for what you have done! Stay away from him from now on.'
"Ouch." Mia groaned as she raised her hand and rubbed the side of her temples.
