Chapter 126 - Pokémon: Breeding Simulator [126]

At this moment, Mewtwo's emotions were surging.

From the moment she first became conscious, she had never felt such ease.

The pain that had tormented her for so long—was finally, completely gone.

What she wanted most now was to pull Elias into this space and thank him face-to-face.

With that thought, the young Mewtwo released a wisp of psychic energy. Upon touching Elias, she gently extended an invitation.

On the other side, feeling Mewtwo's call, Elias had no intention of refusing.

He was curious too—after modifying her genetic structure, had Mewtwo's body improved?

Following her mental guidance, his consciousness reappeared in the same space he had visited not long ago.

Only this time, the moment he opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was Mewtwo, staring at him with wide, round eyes.

Elias blinked, a little stunned.

At this stage, Mewtwo really did look like a scaled-up version of Mew.

Except—compared to the childlike Mew, she clearly appeared more mature. She looked more like… a teenage girl?

She might even grow up to resemble a Gardevoir-style psychic queen someday.

The thought made Elias unexpectedly curious.

As for Mewtwo, her large, watery eyes lit up the instant she saw Elias.

And when she realized he was looking at her with some sort of thoughtful expression, not only did the hostility in her gaze disappear, but she even let out a light cough, puffed out her tiny chest, and awkwardly raised her chin with a hint of pride.

"T-Thank you… special human."

After organizing her thoughts, Mewtwo used her limited vocabulary to deliver a sincere thank you.

"It was nothing."

Elias waved a hand nonchalantly.

He wasn't just being modest—when you had the genetic map, making the necessary changes really was simple.

It was like unlocking a door. Without a key, it would take a lot of effort. But with the key? Just a twist.

Of course, Mewtwo didn't know that.

Seeing that Elias hadn't made any greedy or unreasonable demands like other humans might have, her impression of him improved even more.

Not that she wouldn't have fulfilled any such request without complaint—she absolutely would have.

"Oh, right."

Mewtwo suddenly clapped her hands as if remembering something, then turned to Elias and asked:

"If you don't mind… could you tell me why my body was in so much pain before?"

As she spoke, there was a trace of lingering fear in her voice.

The agony had left a shadow on her. She wanted to understand the cause—so that if it ever happened again when Elias wasn't around, she could handle it herself.

To that, Elias replied,

"You should be able to sense it with your psychic power—there's a little pink cat floating outside, right?"

"All your genes came from her. But because of Team Rocket's flawed technology, your DNA wasn't stable."

"What I did… was just patch the missing parts of your genetic code. So you won't have to worry about it recurring."

As he spoke, Elias gestured off to the side.

Hearing this explanation, Mewtwo visibly relaxed.

She extended her psychic sense and sure enough, saw the small pink cat Elias had described.

At that moment, Mew was flailing her tiny paws, tangled in a playful scuffle with a Gardevoir, occasionally sneaking in a few smug giggles.

Watching this creature—who seemed younger than herself and acted even more childishly—Mewtwo couldn't help the question marks popping up over her head.

So… this is the Pokémon I share genes with?

She found it hard to believe. But that familiar sense of kinship radiating from Mew couldn't be denied. It silenced her.

For a moment, she even began to question whether her bloodline was really something to take pride in.

Just then, Mew's form shimmered again—and with a sudden leap, she crashed straight into the real-world Elias's arms.

Through her psychic connection, Mewtwo clearly saw the look of contentment on Elias's face.

While Mewtwo and Gardevoir froze, Mew wrapped her arms around Elias's neck. She seemed to be preparing to enter the mental space as well.

Mewtwo's face darkened. She blocked Mew from entering the space entirely.

Even though this was their first meeting, Mewtwo's impression of Mew had already plummeted to rock bottom.

Yes, both she and Elias had a hand in creating her.

But…

Elias had given her the psychic power to protect herself.

And that cat? She gave her defective genes—and left Elias to clean up the mess.

If that were all, fine. But the worst part—Mew was getting handsy with Elias.

She had a perfectly functioning body, and still wanted to cling to Elias?

In Mewtwo's mind, this was the definition of trying to steal the whole pot.

I'll remember her, Mewtwo thought grimly. She's getting a beating the moment I get out of here.

After chatting with her for a while longer and patiently explaining a few things about the outside world, Elias finally asked:

"So… are you planning to come out now?"

Seeing the bright gleam in Mewtwo's eyes, that eager look on her face, Elias figured she might be ready to awaken.

But…

To his surprise, Mewtwo hesitated—then shook her head.

Meeting his puzzled gaze, she calmly explained:

"My body isn't fully developed yet. The fluid in the tank helps accelerate my growth."

"I want to wait—until I've grown stronger—before I come out."

A rational and cautious choice.

She did want to go with Elias right away.

But she also understood: with her current strength, she might not be able to live freely outside like she imagined.

She might not even be able to defeat that cat—and end up getting beaten instead.

So, to be safe, she chose to wait a little longer.

"Don't worry. Now that my body's complete, I'll be able to come out in just a few days!"

Mewtwo did a quick estimate, then looked at Elias and asked:

"Can I mark you with a psychic tag? That way, when I wake up, I'll be able to find you."

Faced with those pleading eyes, Elias couldn't bring himself to say no.

He nodded.

Seeing his agreement, Mewtwo visibly lit up. She carefully split off a thread of her psychic power and placed it gently on Elias.

Now, no matter where he went, she would be able to sense him.

And if he were ever in danger, she'd know right away—and rush to the battlefield.

"Wait for me, okay~?"

"I will."

With their promise made, Elias withdrew from the psychic space, leaving behind Mewtwo's reluctant gaze.

Even after returning to reality, Elias couldn't shake the feeling that things had gone too smoothly.

This wasn't like the simulated world. In the real world, he was basically a walking disaster.

The kind of human all Pokémon instinctively avoided.

For Mewtwo not to lash out at him right away—and to end up liking him, even—that was the last thing he'd expected.
