Chapter 96: Third Soul Skill – Vector Control + Wind's Extreme Speed
Han Li turned to check on Dugu Yan and noticed that her aura had stabilized. Without wasting time, he quickly slipped into the nearby bushes.
After some hesitation, considering the return trip, he decided to take his master's advice and put on the open back outfit. Internally, he made a firm decision to order custom made clothes as soon as he got back. Wearing this was way too uncomfortable.
By the time he returned, he saw that Dugu Yan had already completed her soul ring absorption and was excitedly chatting with the other two.
"Han Li! Your blessing really worked!"
The moment she saw him, Dugu Yan excitedly ran up and grabbed his arm, eager to share her experience.
"Oh? So, what soul skill did you get, Yan ? Tell us about it."
Han Li smiled and played along.
"My third soul skill is called Blazing Feathers! When activated, it boosts my speed by 50% and increases my fire attack range. At the same time, it rapidly launches a barrage of flame condensed feathers in front of me. Pretty awesome, right? I inherited all of its abilities!"
Dugu Yan declared proudly.
"That's indeed impressive not only does it enhance your speed, but it also includes a large scale attack. That's really strong, Yan !" Han Li gave her a thumbs up.
"Hehe, of course!"
"Right, Han Li, what about your third soul skill? And my grandpa told me you've got wings now show me!"
Dugu Yan curiously glanced at Han Li's new outfit. Guang Ling and Dugu Bo also looked over with interest.
Without hesitation, Han Li summoned his martial soul. The black purple black arrangement of his soul rings gleamed prominently.
A flash of light passed through the third soul ring, and three energy condensed arrows appeared in his hand. He handed them over to the three onlookers.
"Here, you can feel it for yourselves."
As soon as they received the arrows, they immediately sensed something was off. The surface of the arrows shimmered with a layer of blue green light, and as they held them, the weight kept shifting one moment light as a feather, the next as heavy as a mountain.
"This is my third soul skill. The name doesn't really matter ╮(╯_╰)╭ I haven't thought of one yet. Its effects: arrow flight speed is doubled, and it inherits the Shadow Eagle's ability to manipulate its own mass. I'm not sure of the upper limit yet, but based on estimates, I can modify its weight anywhere from three to ten times. Also, I can control the arrow's velocity as it flies."
As he spoke, he swiftly drew his bow and fired three rapid arrows at an empty patch of land.
Despite being fired in succession, all three arrows landed at the same time.
Then, he fired another arrow this time, it floated forward gently at first but suddenly accelerated midway, piercing the ground and causing a small explosion.
"Hiss "
The three of them sucked in a breath of cold air.
The arrow had seemed so light at first, like it could be pushed aside with a single finger. But in the blink of an eye, it struck with terrifying force, blasting open a crater in the ground.
Why did it feel like Han Li's attacks were getting sneakier?
That thought simultaneously popped into all three of their minds.
"What about your dual blades? What's their soul skill?"
Guang Ling instinctively asked.
"Their ability is similar. Aside from doubling my attack speed, I can also control their mass independently. Unlike the arrows, though, their weight shifts won't affect me I'll still feel them as their original weight."
This time, Han Li didn't bother demonstrating. It wasn't necessary.
The three listening to him felt a bit of a headache coming on.
They could already imagine Han Li swinging what seemed like a feather light blade only for the enemy to suddenly be forced to their knees, their feet sinking into the ground under the sheer impact.
"Forget it. As long as you're satisfied," Guang Ling finally muttered after a long pause.
"Wings! Wings! Han Li, let me see your wings already!"
Dugu Yan excitedly moved behind him, lifting his cloak. But as soon as she saw his open back outfit, she burst into laughter.
"Alright, stop laughing. I'm ordering custom clothes the moment we get back!"
Han Li gritted his teeth in frustration. Why is it funny for a man to wear an open back outfit?!
He completely failed to realize that Dugu Yan was laughing not at the clothes but at how awkward he looked wearing them.
"Enough about clothes. That can wait. Tell us what abilities did your wings give you?"
Dugu Bo waved a hand dismissively. He was far more interested in the soul bone's effects.
Han Li took a step back, and in an instant, a pair of enormous blue eagle wings unfurled from his back.
The wings were nearly twice his arm span, radiating a thick aura of wind elemental energy. They appeared as if they were sculpted from sapphire, each feather meticulously carved with intricate patterns. A luminous azure glow continuously flowed across them, making them appear almost ethereal.
"So beautiful…"
Dugu Yan gasped in admiration.
She stepped forward and ran her fingers across them, expecting a hard gemstone like texture, but was surprised to find them soft and flexible. The sensation was incredibly pleasant.
"Stop touching them. I can feel that, you know."
Han Li flapped his wings lightly, nudging her away though he didn't notice how her eyes lit up even more.
"I'm calling them Azure Plume since Master caught the soul beast for me, it's my way of commemorating that. The wings only have one ability: granting me extreme speed. The flight speed matches that of a Shadow Eagle of equivalent age, and I can completely ignore air resistance."
With a single powerful flap, a streak of azure light flashed Han Li was gone.
A second later, another streak flashed, and he was back.
"No more using fire propulsion to fly!"
He was very satisfied.
The only downside? He was missing a lightning attribute. Otherwise, he could've called them Storm Wings.
But that was fine. Fire on the left, ice on the right he could always simulate lightning effects later.
With enough training, he could even attempt something like Nitro Boost Mode.
Or, better yet, he could use his ice blades to imitate a legendary anime technique Wind Extreme: Falling Slash.
Now that would be amazing.
"Thank you, two great deities. Your gifts are truly excellent."
Relying on his exceptional physical coordination and strong spiritual power, Han Li practiced flying for a while, quickly mastering his wings. While integrating them into combat would take more time, basic flight was no longer an issue.
With that, the soul hunt concluded successfully.
After a brief discussion, the four decided to fly straight out of the forest.
Dugu Yan, however, was still a bit slower. Since her speed boost only activated with her soul skill, and she didn't have the soul power reserves of a Titled Douluo, Dugu Bo ended up carrying her as they made their way toward the nearby town.
