Chapter 66 - Lin Yue Integrates Medicine into Culture, Li Yi Aids Tang's Prosperity

As time flowed on, the Tang Dynasty, propelled by Li Yi and Lin Yue, saw its cultural prosperity become increasingly resplendent. However, with the vigorous development of culture, new challenges emerged one after another.

One day, Li Yi arrived at Lin Yue's medical clinic with a grave expression. Sensing his furrowed brows, Lin Yue's heart tightened, and she quickly asked, "Your Majesty, what has happened?"

Li Yi sighed deeply and said slowly, "Yue'er, though culture thrives now, the path of inheritance is fraught with difficulties. Many skills face the risk of having no successors. If this continues, they may be lost forever."

Lin Yue wore a worried look upon hearing this. After a moment of contemplation, she replied, "Your Majesty speaks truth. We must find ways to cultivate more talent so that these cultural treasures can endure."

After much discussion, the two decided to establish specialized inheritance courses in cultural academies across the land, inviting masters from various fields to teach in person. Li Yi took charge of coordinating resources and arranging the curriculum, while Lin Yue leveraged her connections to invite experts in medical culture to give lectures.

During the preparation of the inheritance courses, Li Yi shuttled daily between the imperial court and the academies, often working late into the night. He knew the weight of the responsibility to preserve culture and did not dare to slacken for a moment. Whenever he faced obstacles, he would recall Lin Yue's determined gaze, which filled him with strength. He silently vowed to pave a bright path for the cultural inheritance of the Tang Dynasty, no matter how arduous the journey.

Lin Yue was equally busy. She traveled far and wide through folk villages, seeking out reclusive doctors and artisans with unique skills. For each person she found, she would patiently persuade them to join the inheritance cause. Once, she heard of an old doctor in the mountains who mastered a unique acupuncture technique. Despite the rugged and treacherous mountain roads, she made the journey herself to pay a visit.

Upon meeting the old doctor, she said earnestly, "Venerable sir, your medical skills are unparalleled. If passed down, they will surely benefit more people. Now that Tang's culture flourishes, we need talents like you." Moved by her sincerity, the old doctor agreed to leave seclusion and teach.

The inheritance courses opened smoothly, attracting many young people to study. Li Yi and Lin Yue often visited the academies to interact with the students. Gazing at their vibrant faces, Li Yi said to Lin Yue with great satisfaction, "Miss Lin, looking at these young people, I seem to see the future of Tang's culture." Lin Yue nodded with a smile, "Indeed. May they carry forward our culture and make it thrive."

However, just as the inheritance work proceeded in an orderly manner, a sudden epidemic disrupted the peace. The disease spread rapidly, plunging the people into panic. Lin Yue was overcome with anxiety and immediately threw herself into the anti-epidemic efforts. Drawing on her medical knowledge and integrating health-preservation concepts from medical culture, she formulated a series of anti-epidemic plans. Li Yi also actively organized forces in court, allocated supplies, and supported the anti-epidemic work. Watching Lin Yue's busy figure, he felt deep concern but also knew her firmness and perseverance. He silently cheered her on while striving to coordinate resources to provide a solid backing for the anti-epidemic efforts.

During the fight against the epidemic, Lin Yue discovered that while traditional medical treatments were somewhat effective against the disease, they needed to be combined with psychological counseling from cultural practices. She therefore collaborated with musicians to play soothing music during treatment to ease patients' anxiety and worked with painters to create promotional posters about anti-epidemic knowledge, which were posted throughout the streets and alleys.

Li Yi, despite opposition in court, pushed through a series of policies beneficial to fighting the epidemic. He encouraged ministers to donate money and goods to support the affected areas and organized officials to go deep into rural areas to pacify the people. Through his efforts, the court and the people stood united in the battle against the epidemic.

After a period of strenuous work, the epidemic was finally brought under control. The people's gratitude toward Li Yi and Lin Yue knew no bounds. This crisis also deepened their understanding of the importance of integrating medical and cultural practices.

In the post-epidemic period, Li Yi and Lin Yue continued to devote themselves to cultural inheritance and development. They continuously improved the inheritance courses by adding practical sessions to help students master skills better. They also encouraged students to innovate on the basis of inheritance, aiming to push Tang culture to new heights.

As time passed, the students who had attended the inheritance courses gradually grew into leading figures in their respective fields. Some became renowned poets, celebrating Tang's prosperity with beautiful verses; others became outstanding painters, depicting the dynasty's magnificent landscapes with their brushes; and some became excellent doctors, carrying forward medical culture to benefit the people.

Looking at their students' achievements, Li Yi and Lin Yue felt immense pride. They knew their years of hard work had not been in vain. On a sunny day, they visited the site of the former cultural festival, recalling every step of their journey.

Li Yi sighed, "Yue'er, we have witnessed the prosperity of Tang's culture and poured countless efforts into its inheritance. Now, seeing all this, I have no regrets in life."

With tears in her eyes, Lin Yue smiled and said, "Yes. Our efforts have forged Tang's brilliance and left a precious legacy for future generations."

Years later, even after Li Yi and Lin Yue passed away, their story continued to spread throughout the land of Tang. Their names became symbols of cultural prosperity and inheritance, inspiring generation after generation of Tang people to pursue progress unceasingly, ensuring that Tang culture would be passed down and forever shine brightly in the river of history.

Guided by them, Tang culture continued to grow and expand, influencing the development of world culture and becoming a dazzling pearl in the history of human civilization.
