Chapter 18 - damn monster

Unohana and Samael were the only ones present in the office. As Samael looked at Unohana, he reported:

"As always, your work was excellent."

Unohana replied with a gentle smile,

but in her eyes, there was a sign of doubt.

She didn't know why, but she felt something wasn't right—as if the world itself had a problem.

Every time she saw her lieutenant, Samael, the feeling grew stronger.

Her instincts screamed that there was something strange about him, but how could that be?

Wasn't it she herself who had personally chosen Samael as her lieutenant?

She had selected him for his exceptional mastery of Kido, and over the past hundred years, Samael had never disappointed her.

Maybe it was just an illusion… Unohana sighed, but she didn't know that in her lieutenant's eyes, there was a hint of shock hidden.

While she thought Samael, like her, was lost in thought, the reality was something else entirely.

"This damn monster…"

For the first time, Samael was a little scared. Beads of sweat were dripping from his forehead.

Retsu Unohana—no, this beast with her animalistic instincts had somehow sensed that something was wrong.

But how could that be? How could a soul detect a distortion in reality purely by instinct?

In the original version, Unohana was one of the few who sensed something was off about Aizen.

Although she didn't know exactly what it was, she felt something was wrong.

Yet Kyōka Suigetsu could only deceive the five senses, while Samael had rewritten reality itself.

So how could Unohana sense this?

For the first time, Samael realized just how terrifying this former Kenpachi truly was.

A spiritual being who hadn't even reached the level of an angel, yet she could feel the distortion of reality?

Retsu Unohana… what a terrifying woman.

"If you have no further orders, I'll take my leave, Captain."

Samael said in a calm and respectful tone. Unohana simply nodded:

"No, I have nothing else. You may go."

Samael gave a short bow and left the office under her suspicious gaze.

Once the door closed, he walked the streets of the Soul Society and pondered how surprising these mortals could be.

A human soul… how could it possess awareness equal to that of an angel?

A being with not even a trace of divinity—how could it have such a godlike sense?

When the clone of the Demon Lord used the power of the Omniscient and Omnipotent to seal the Ancient One, Samael, as the original body, had felt it.

But as he knew, using such power came with a great cost—that was why he was even more eager to obtain The Almighty.

This divine ability, without any cost, was extraordinary.

The Almighty allowed its user to see the future, perceive all infinite possibilities, change destiny at will, and even deny their own death.

Moreover, anything the user understood the structure of could not harm them.

In other words, if Samael understood the structure of a black hole, not only would it not harm him, but he could also use it as a weapon—even summon it and annihilate his enemies.

Yhwach not only possessed this ability, but also other divine powers.

He was like a treasure containing infinite potential.

Now Samael understood why Yhwach was so arrogant—anyone with such power would claim to be a god.

If the Soul King represented the God of the Cross, then Yhwach was the Son of God.

No, he was both the Son of God and God Himself.

He was the heir to a divinity that, although partially human, in essence and power was closer to a god.

After absorbing the Soul King, he had nearly reached divinity—and had the absorption been complete, he would undoubtedly have become the Omnipotent and Omniscient God.

Now, Samael had two paths to obtaining The Almighty:

1. Understanding its structure and creating a similar ability in the divine dimension.

2. Devouring Yhwach and stealing all his powers.

For now, he had chosen the first path. But if it yielded no results, he would undoubtedly try the second.
